This month’s theme is the “Music Edition”, and it's all about 90’s Hip Hop.
Queen Baseball Hat - Listed Value $22.00
It's rare to have a baseball cap in a women’s lifestyle box. The last time I saw a baseball cap in a box was the June PopSugar Must Have Box. The black cap has “Queen” embroidered on the front with a crown above the letter “Q”. The backing is adjustable and 100% cotton. I don’t wear baseball ball caps, but I’m sure this will be welcomed by those subscribers who prefer this style.
4 Pack Pin-Back Button Set - Listed Value $8.00
This four-pack of pin-back buttons features four sayings: “Love A Black Woman From Infinity to Infinity”, “Never Trust A Big Butt And A Smile”, “I Put My Game Down Flip It & Reverse It”, and “French Vanilla, Butter Pecan, Chocolate Deluxe”. These pins would be good on a denim jacket, baseball cap, tote bag, or anywhere you want to make a statement. I don’t tend to wear buttons, but I may play around with places I can display this set.
“Peace Love & Hip Hop” Vintage Look Tee - Value $29.99?
This crew neck tee has “Peace Love & Hip Hop” printed on the front. My tee is a crew neck unisex X-Large. (When you subscribe, you indicate your shirt size.) The tee I received this month wasn’t found on the website, but I did find the same print in a women's v-neck. I linked to that tee above to give an idea of value. I’m a jeans and t-shirt gal, so I’m loving the assortment of tees I receive.
”Don’t Be A Hard Rock” Straw Tumbler - Listed Value $18.00
This 22 oz blue tumbler has “Don’t Be A Hard Rock When You Really Are A Gem" printed on it. These are lyrics from Lauryn Hill’s song, Doo Wop (That Thing). I have received a ton of tumblers, travel mugs, and water bottles in subscription boxes, so I wasn't that excited about this item.
“Crazy Sexy Cool” Cosmetics Pouch - Listed Value $13.00
This medium-sized cotton cosmetics pouch has a “Crazy Sexy Cool, reference to TLC ‘s album, printed on the front. This pouch was big enough to hold my small Ipsy bag inside, and it left for some room to add a few things. I love to change out my cosmetics bags monthly so this will go in my rotation.
Mermaid Kisses Whipped Body Scrub, 4 oz - Value $10.00
BONUS: Cherry Lip Balm - Value $3.00
The lip balm was moisturizing to my lips and tasted like cherry. I’m always using lip balm, so I can add this to my existing pile. The body scrub smelled of candy and perfume and had an exfoliating lather. The scrub wasn’t grainy like other scrubs I tried. As I showered, there was a residue of blue dye as the water drained. It didn’t stain the tub, though—it was just a subtle hint of blue that I noticed. The scrub did leave my skin feeling soft.
Verdict: The Brown Sugar Box has an estimated value of $103.99. That’s more than double the cost of the box ($39.95 + 4.95 shipping). The box held to its hip-hop theme with the various 90’s lyrics. The box brought me an assortment of accessories such as the pins and cap, a cosmetics pouch that’s roomy and fits all my essential items, a body scrub that left my skin soft and smooth, and a moisturizing lip balm. So the items in this month’s box were a hit except for the tumbler and baseball cap. This box delivers on being a lifestyle box that sends a variety of items geared for WOC. Each month I’m receiving at least 5-8 products. The products are fashionable and fun. For the most part, I have been enjoying my products (especially the monthly t-shirts).
