The postcard that was included was really cute! Perfect to send a little note to a fellow tea lover.
Each box comes with 10 loose leaf tea bags that are so convenient and nice! I love that they include these every month.
Little Berry Hibiscus – Value $3
I decided to try this herbal, caffeine free blend as an iced tea. The sharpness of the cranberry, licorice root, and lemongrass cuts through the fruity flavors nicely. I added a little sweetener to this to get it to the perfect balance of tart and sweet. It was also a really vibrant pink! This was a really refreshing tea for a hot summer day and a great way to start off this box.
Anti-Inflammatory Chai – Value $3.50
Chai tea is awesome and any anti-inflammatory properties are a bonus! I followed the information card suggestion and made this as an iced latte. I brewed it for about 15 minutes, then mixed it with almond milk over ice. This tasted like an iced chai tea latte from my favorite coffee shop. Cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and star anise are the classic chai ingredients that really make this a standout drink. They work well with the smooth Assam black tea.
Emerald City – Value $3.50
This herbal and black tea has low caffeine and refreshing flavors! Assam tea is the black tea with shiso leaf rounding out the herbal side. I’m a fan of peppermint and spearmint so I loved the flavor of this blend. Peppermint does have a nice cooling effect too so this was a great tea for a hot summer day. This also has some lemon peel in it which adds a little citrus kick. I ended up adding a lemon slice in this to ramp it up a bit.
Strawberry Lemonade – Value $3
This Ceylon tea has a ton of different fruit flavors in it. As the name suggests, the strawberry and lemon flavors are the strongest. As a hot tea, the flavors blended nicely and it was a smooth black fruit tea. I also tried this one iced and loved it. The information card suggests adding organic cane sugar. I ended up adding agave nectar for sweetener and a few lemons slices. This was a cool, fruity, Arnold Palmer type of summer drink that was really refreshing.
Verdict: Amoda Tea provides a solid sampler each month. I think you get a nice amount of tea to make a few cups of each kind and the variety across the four teas is great. This felt like a really nice summer box to me. The Strawberry Lemonade, Emerald City, and Little Berry Hibiscus were all really nice for the humid days we’ve been having this summer. I also really enjoyed the iced Chai included in this box. Amoda Tea is $20 a month which breaks down to about $1 – $1.66 a cup, depending on how much of the tea leaves you use in your brew. When I break down the price of each pouch on the site, this box is $13. I still think this is a decent deal because you do get a few cups out of each pouch and the curation has been awesome. I like the variety they’re able to include in a small sampler and this month’s box has added a bunch of delicious drinks to my daily routine!
