L’Oreal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Rose Tone Cream Sample (buy a full-size jar for $18.74 on Amazon)
I couldn’t find just how much formula is inside of this packet, but I estimate there’s about an application-and-a-half. This cream is supposed to help you improve your skin’s rosy glow by stimulating cell turnover. It also has a super-subtle rose hue with a pinch of shimmer, which gave my skin a bit of a superficial dewy look. To be clear, the pink hue barely shows up, but the shimmer makes it like a gentler all-over illuminator. And the formula left my skin feeling moist and velvety.
The next sample is this moisturizer that doesn’t have oil, parabens, nor petrolatum in it. It does have hyaluronic acid, which is a really popular skin-repairing ingredient right now. There’s about two application’s worth in this sample, unless you apply this to your neck like I did, in which case there’s about one and a half. The formula comes out like a looser lotion, but as soon as it hit my skin, it felt really liquidy. I will say that it made some more sensitive areas of my face feel sort of stingy, but it also left my skin feeling smooth, almost like the feeling that makeup primer leaves behind.
L’Oreal EverPure Shampoo and Conditioner Sample Duo, 0.34 oz each – Value $0.58 (Buy a full-size set—8.5 oz—for $12.86 on Amazon)
I was surprised that this shampoo and conditioner by such a major, commercial brand is vegan, dye-free, paraben free, and even gluten-free! It has an herbacious, floral scent to it, and the conditioner in particular is designed to help nourish color-treated or damaged hair (which is perfect for me). They didn’t transform my hair in any super notable way, but the conditioner, in particular, did leave my hair feeling soft and silky in the shower and frizz-free afterwards.
Maui Moisture Heal and Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner, 0.24 oz each – Value $0.48 (Buy a full-size duo—13 oz each— for $24.95 on Amazon)
These formulas both contain shea butter, as well as natural ingredients like coconut water and aloe. They have a light, beachy, slightly fruity smell to them that I liked a lot, and I’m wild about the fact that they’re cruelty-free. The winner in this duo, again, was the conditioner. I feel like my hair felt more nourished after the shower and even after a quick blow-dry.
I love perfume samples! This scent was a lot more subtle than I expected. It’s a sensual blend of orange and peachy scents that’s brought back down to earth with a pop of earthy sandalwood and amber notes. It’s a little sexier than the scents I tend to wear, but it’s fun to have this tiny spray in my collection for a late-summer date night.
I am a big coffee drinker, so my teeth could use a product like this! I liked the at-home ease of popping these strips on my top and bottom teeth. I wore them while I worked on my laptop until the timer on my phone went off. My teeth did end up a few shades brighter, too! Wow!
This lotion is small enough to pop in a purse, or even a jacket pocket if I’m out and about. The lotion has a light, soothing, clean smell to it, and the lotion absorbs into the skin fast without leaving it feeling oily or like there’s a bunch of residue left over.
This is one of my favorite toothpastes—I’ve purchased it for myself in the past, and I really love how fresh and clean it leaves my mouth feeling. The flavor is minty, but not in an overly intense or icy way. This tube is a little smaller than the standard tube, so I’ll probably use it as my go-to travel toothpaste.
Oral B Glide Pro Health Deep Clean Floss, Trial Size, 4m – Value $0.42 (Buy 72 for $29.99 on PureLifeDental)
If anything, getting this floss was a great reminder to keep up with a good flossing routine. Having this little mildly minty pack of floss in my medicine cabinet means I have no excuse not to do it! This floss is the old school stuff—pull a nice length out, twirl it around your fingers for stability, and start flossing. It’s easy to pop into my bag, too, in case I’m out for a big lunch or something.
Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, 0.5 oz – Value $9.99
I’m only just turning 30, but I already like trying these kinds of creams because they tend to make my skin feel happier and healthier in general, wrinkles or not. This cream feels like a lotion going on and absorbs quickly. I did feel like it irritated one or two more sensitive spots on my face (I have a few dry patches around my nose that felt a little tingle of discomfort as this cream was soaking in), but on the whole, it made my skin feel soft and bouncy.
Verdict: This box cost about $12.00, but it had at least $19.00 of value (plus the two samples that I wasn’t able to price). It gets even better when you realize you basically get that price back as a credit. I was happy to get some new products to play with, as well as some oral care staples to bring along on my end-of-summer travels!
