Mamasaurus by Stephan Lomp – Value $12.67 on Amazon (retail price $16.99)

This book is very reminiscent of the old story, Are You My Mother by P.D. Eastman. This one features a young dinosaur who got separated from his mother and asks many other dinosaurs that he encounters in the jungle if they have seen his mother. They always ask if she looks like their own mothers and he always has a reply giving one of her distinguishing characteristics. Eventually, his mom finds him; she’s been looking for him all this time too. We liked the contrast of the vivid red, orange yellow and purple drawings against the black background. The story was cute, but nothing groundbreaking.

Little Elliot Big City by Mike Curato - Value $7.16 on Amazon (retails price $16.99)

Little Elliot lives alone and often feels lost in the brown of the big city. He is not always able to do the things he wants because of his small size. Luckily he meets a mouse and together they help each other and become fast friends. Elliot is a sweet character and is featured in some other books by Mike Curato.

Verdict: The value of Bookroo this month was over $19 (using Amazon prices) which is higher than the cost of the box ($17.99 a month) but doesn't cover the additional shipping. We preferred the Little Elliot book more than Mamasaurus, but both were cute. We love getting two hardcover, wrapped books each month from Bookroo and recommend it for the child in your life who loves books.

Jessica's addiction started off slowly enough with Birchbox, but it has grown and grown over the last three years. An elementary school librarian and mom of two she loves boxes that are child-centric. But she'll never turn down a good fashion, beauty or tasty treat subscription.
