Hikari Primer - Value $19

This is a nice, thick primer that sets to a velvety, smooth finish. I would recommend it for dry to normal skin that needs a moisture barrier throughout the day. It worked very well under my mineral powder foundation and smoothed my dry lines and patches. I even went to eat lunch outside in the heat and my makeup didn’t budge. I like the pump glass pump bottle packaging and one pump gives you more than enough product.

Michael Marcus Waterproof Mascara - Value $24

This mascara stumped me a bit. I was doing the “mascara motions” but I could not get any on my lashes. The wand had some mascara at the tip but none on the rest. I ended up tapping some of the product from the tip onto my lashes and brushing it through with the brush. I figure that the wand is too short or the tube wasn’t filled enough, maybe both. This promises to be a waterproof mascara that doesn’t leave your lashes brittle, and I noticed that my lashes felt soft throughout the day. I hope my tube was just a fluke because I want this to be a good product.

Emma Cosmetics Broadway Coral Blush - Value $20

This is a bright, shimmery coral blush that is highly pigmented. I found myself blending it out because I looked way too flushed. If you have a light complexion, be aware that less is more. I like that it is natural and mineral based. The compact is easy to open and slim – perfect for travel.

Shray Skincare Queen Bee Acne Mask - Value $10

This sheet mask has the cutest packaging. You get an info card explaining how to use it and a fold-out card with the mask nestled inside. It explains that Cleopatra used raw honey to treat her skin and that it has great acne-bashing qualities. I don’t suffer from acne, but I do have some redness, so I think this will be great for me too. Just a side note, my dog wants nothing to do with me when I’m wearing a sheet mask. 🙂

Vasanti Cosmetics Power Oils Lip Gloss in Supermom - Value $15

I can’t nail down what this smells like, some kind of sweet, citrusy hard candy. Aside from the scent, this is a super moisturizing gloss with lots of pigment. It isn’t sticky and it lasted all morning for me (though it doesn’t promise to be long-lasting). It does bleed a little, so next time I’ll try a liner with it.

All of the items swatched from top to bottom: blush, lip gloss, primer.

Lola Beauty Box May 2017

Lola Beauty Box included a sample of Emma Cosmetics Pore Refiner. It is nice to be able to try a different product from an included company.

Verdict: Lola Beauty Box did a great job of curating some diverse products for me this month. I like that I got a skincare item, the sheet mask, and not just all makeup. And a regular, clear primer is always great. The only less-than-great product was the mascara this month. The value of this box is $88 plus a sample and free shipping.

What do you think of the this month’s Lola Beauty Box? Did you get different products?

Has anyone received any news of the June box already? The May box was already delivered to me by May 20th, but this month I haven’t even gotten a shipping notification yet.

One of my favorite boxes! A little disappointed with the completely dry mascara this month though 🙁

Thank you for reviewing this box! I’ve been considering subbing for a few months now, and now that Ipsy and I have broken up over them including TWO blushes (the Nyx – which is a lip disaster and is pretty much only blush, and balm) in my bag after I’ve been on permanent opt out for months, I’m thinking about going for it. I mean, If I have to swap or sell an item – I’d rather have a full sized item. *shrug*

Of course! Full sized is a wonderful thing. 🙂

How personalized is this box? Do you pick which types of products you want to receive or is it just personalized based on skin/hair type etc?

Also…had to do a double take with that info card because when I was scrolling past it I thought it said “How makeup makes men feel” LOL. I was like what kinda message is that?! haha. Maybe they need a better graphic designer….

Thanks for the review – love that you included a full look that you did with the products! 🙂

Thank you! I have sent in a note to them to see if I can get some more info about how they personalize. I will let everyone know what I find out.

I received an answer back from Lola about this. Even though the website says “Personalized” they do not offer personalized preferences at this point. I was happy with my selection even without personalization though!

So far all boxes are the same…no variations that I know of.

It’s supposed to be “me”, but yeah, it does look like “men”. At first I didn’t get it either. 🙂

Lola is one of my favorite subscriptions. My mascara was unusable as well tho. That sheet mask was the best sheet mask I’ve ever used. I left it on for a long time because I fell asleep.
I’ve subscribed to Lola since December and I’ve always found something in my boxes that I’ve loved. I’m thrilled MSA is reviewing them. I’ve contacted customer service once when I had skipped a month and ended up having enough in my budget for it and they were quick to respond and send my box.

I’m so close to subscribing to this box. I’ve been watching it for months, I just haven’t had that last thing that says yep, you need this box.

So excited that you are reviewing Lola Beauty Box now!! Thank-you!

I do really like the Hikari primer but I found the mascara to be dry too.

This May box was not as good for me as their previous last three boxes (I joined in Feb,) but so far June is promising to be awesome again!

Tiffany

I’m using the primer on a daily basis now. I can’t wait to try June!

JuJu

Are June spoilers available already?

Great review! You are stunning. My cat is terrified of me when I wear one of those dark gray clay masks.

Well thank you! I found out that my dog isn’t the only one who doesn’t like them…my fiancé finds them a little unsettling too! Ha

I wore the tiger animal sheet mask and my dogs were barking at me; it was hilarious!!
