Now, onto the items!
Hikari Primer - Value $19
This is a nice, thick primer that sets to a velvety, smooth finish. I would recommend it for dry to normal skin that needs a moisture barrier throughout the day. It worked very well under my mineral powder foundation and smoothed my dry lines and patches. I even went to eat lunch outside in the heat and my makeup didn’t budge. I like the pump glass pump bottle packaging and one pump gives you more than enough product.
Michael Marcus Waterproof Mascara - Value $24
This mascara stumped me a bit. I was doing the “mascara motions” but I could not get any on my lashes. The wand had some mascara at the tip but none on the rest. I ended up tapping some of the product from the tip onto my lashes and brushing it through with the brush. I figure that the wand is too short or the tube wasn’t filled enough, maybe both. This promises to be a waterproof mascara that doesn’t leave your lashes brittle, and I noticed that my lashes felt soft throughout the day. I hope my tube was just a fluke because I want this to be a good product.
Emma Cosmetics Broadway Coral Blush - Value $20
This is a bright, shimmery coral blush that is highly pigmented. I found myself blending it out because I looked way too flushed. If you have a light complexion, be aware that less is more. I like that it is natural and mineral based. The compact is easy to open and slim – perfect for travel.
Shray Skincare Queen Bee Acne Mask - Value $10
This sheet mask has the cutest packaging. You get an info card explaining how to use it and a fold-out card with the mask nestled inside. It explains that Cleopatra used raw honey to treat her skin and that it has great acne-bashing qualities. I don’t suffer from acne, but I do have some redness, so I think this will be great for me too. Just a side note, my dog wants nothing to do with me when I’m wearing a sheet mask. 🙂
Vasanti Cosmetics Power Oils Lip Gloss in Supermom - Value $15
I can’t nail down what this smells like, some kind of sweet, citrusy hard candy. Aside from the scent, this is a super moisturizing gloss with lots of pigment. It isn’t sticky and it lasted all morning for me (though it doesn’t promise to be long-lasting). It does bleed a little, so next time I’ll try a liner with it.
All of the items swatched from top to bottom: blush, lip gloss, primer.
The look with all of the products from this box.
Lola Beauty Box included a sample of Emma Cosmetics Pore Refiner. It is nice to be able to try a different product from an included company.
Verdict: Lola Beauty Box did a great job of curating some diverse products for me this month. I like that I got a skincare item, the sheet mask, and not just all makeup. And a regular, clear primer is always great. The only less-than-great product was the mascara this month. The value of this box is $88 plus a sample and free shipping.
What do you think of the this month’s Lola Beauty Box? Did you get different products?
