Mother Goose’s Pajama Party by Danna Smith – Value $11.99 on Amazon (retail price $17.99)
This was a fun twist on Mother Goose’s old rhymes. The text used many of the characters from beloved Mother Goose originals and the artwork was bright and cheery. The story was entirely written in prose and had a great beat which just begged to be read aloud. I especially liked that at the end of the book all the original Mother Goose poems were included so children not familiar with them could learn those as well.
A Dog Is a Dog by Stephen Shaskan - Value $4.00 on Amazon (retails price $14.99)
A dog is a dog no matter what…unless it’s a cat! This book goes from a dog, to a cat, to a squid, to a moose and finally back to a dog. It was a cute rhyming book and had some silly pictures showing the animals in opposite places or behaviors (skinny/fat, fast/slow, etc.) but overall the book wasn’t my favorite.
Bookroo sent some coupons this month which are good towards purchase at nine different websites.
Verdict: The value of Bookroo this month was $16 (using Amazon prices) which is lower than the cost of the box ($17.99 a month), but that’s because the dog is especially bargain priced on Amazon right now. We preferred the Mother Goose book much more than the dog book. It is rare for us to not love both selections by Bookroo, they really do have great curation. I highly recommend this subscription to the young bookworm in your life.
