Vegan Cuts Vegan Beauty, Skincare and Makeup Subscription Box May 2017

The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural, too). They also typically include a nice mix of full size and sample beauty items. Vegan Cuts also offers a monthly Snack Box and quarterly Makeup Box.

Vegan Cuts sends a single package to subscribers who get both the beauty and snack boxes.  =The beauty items are separated into a little bag. (If you do not get the snack box, I don’t think you get the little bag.)

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Vegan Cuts Beauty, $22.95 a month, box.

Luxie 510 Foundation Brush – Value $16

I am one of those people who applies foundation with my fingers.  But, I like brushes like this for adding a bit of highlighter to my cheekbones. This one seems good for that purpose so far, and of course getting a new brush means washing my other ones less often, which is always a win for me. (The purple-handled brushes were hard to find on the Luxie site so I’ve linked to a rose gold version of the same brush.)

Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Pressed Eyeshadow Single in Sweet Pea (1.8 g) – Value $14.50

This color works well for me (swatch below). I am pale, as you can see, and the pigmentation here works well with my skin tone. The eyeshadow also blends nicely.  I can see myself reaching for this fairly often.

Pair’d Beauty Dry Shampoo in Sweet Cali Orange – Listed Value $6

There is no size information on this container so I took the value from the information card. This is basically corn starch in ethanol, as far as I can tell. It smells good (apparently it has eucalyptus but I am only noticing the orange), but it is pretty drying for me. I am not a regular dry shampoo user, though, and your mileage may vary.

Nubian Heritage African Black Soap Facial Cleansing Bar (3.5 oz) – Value $4.99

I haven’t used a bar soap on my face since high school (and Dove) but I did just clean out the soap dish by my sink so I was willing to give this a try (I’m already a fan of the Nubian Heritage brand).  I do feel that it gets my face clean and I’m hoping to see an effect on the breakouts I’ve been having lately.

Salis Skincare Blackhead Removal Mask – Listed Value $7.50

This has clay, baking soda, and MSM (a source of sulfur that, at least for me, has been good in the past at clearing up my skin). I recently got one of these mask mixing kits on Amazon and now it has me wanting to use clay masks all the time.  I do think this mask cleared out the pores on my nose and I’m hoping if I use it a few times, I’ll see even more results. (There was no size information on this package so I’ve taken the value from the information card.)

Little Moon Essentials Clear Mind Mental Alertness and Energizing Mist (1 fl oz) – Value $3.15

I am not on the essential oil/room spray/aromatherapy bandwagon, to be honest, and I don’t use products like this in my daily life.  To me, this smelled strongly of eucalyptus.  I am thinking it would be good to breathe in when I have a sinus infection or allergy problems, though (really feels like it will clear out the nose), so I will see if I can adapt it for use that way.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $52.14 for this month’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. That’s actually a bit higher than average! Although not every item was right for me, I am getting a lot of use out of the eyeshadow, brush, soap, and mask, together which constitute a majority of the box’s value, so I am happy. I also think the mix of items was nice (e.g., skincare, tools, hair care etc.).

What do you think of the May 2017 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box?

I liked everything except the eyeshadow…really not much pigment. And the aromatherapy is kind of a mystery to me…what exactly do I do with this? But the skincare, dry shampoo, and the brush are all a win. Sub boxes have so many brushes, especially Luxie, that I’m a little over getting them, but this one was actually a really good one. I used to only use my fingers for foundation, but then in the last few months I tried sponges and brushes and grew to love them.
