Now, onto the items!

Sun Lounger – Healthy Glow Powder Bronzer (Value $24)

As always, I love the So Susan packaging! The retro palm leaf box is so cute!

The bronzer itself is wonderful, too. The color is a cool bronze, with a subtle shimmer. My only issue with this is the size - it is pretty small for a full-size bronzer.

Lockdown Luster – Shimmery Shadow Binder (Value $25)

This is my favorite discovery in the box. It's a shimmer primer base that really stays in place! You can also layer it over matte eyeshadows if you want to add a little shimmer. (Swatched in the lower photo.)

Lumi Lip – Iridescent Lip Topper (Value $19)

Unfortunately, this lip topper was a miss for me. It's sparkly, with a lot of iridescence and shine. It's really gorgeous, but the glitter is a little too much lip look for me.

(Swatched in the lower photo.)

Metamorphosis Palette – Radiance Enhancing Palette (Value $39)

This eyeshadow palette (UPDATE: turns out this is a highlighter palette) had so much potential, but...

It wasn't too fun to open! (The good news is you can repair a broken pressed powder with a little rubbing alcohol, but I'm still going to reach out to So Susan for a replacement.)

Even with the broken palette pieces, I was still impressed with these eyeshadow shades. These are three shimmery icy blues with excellent pigment. Very Frozen! And they look lovely blended together.

Here they are swatched beneath the bronzer, eyelid primer, and lip topper:

And each So Susan Lip Love comes with a new makeup bag:

Limited Edition Makeup Bag - Value $12

Every month includes a makeup bag. In the past, the bags have been canvas, but this year they transitioned to a water/spill proof plastic material. I really liked the canvas bags, but I like this version even more - it's very practical for makeup! (And it is lined inside!)

Verdict: This month's So Susan Lip Love bag has a value of about $119! I think that value is fantastic for a $21 ingredient-conscious beauty subscription box. The Lumi Lip is too bold for me, but everything else is very wearable.

If you are looking for a vegan, ingredient conscious makeup subscription, I can't recommend this one enough. The value is great, the formulas are great, and the bonus bag is always super cute!

I just got the June bag and it’s ANOTHER brown powder, ANOTHER highlighting powder, ANOTHER shadow primer, and a useless squeezy gel thing. Plus, the bag has a typo: “Well behave women rarely make history”

I have to say, all these powders that are all the same are such a waste of money. I’ve already canceled, just waiting for them to stop coming.

The “squeezy gel thing” is a silicone sponge. And I think the brownish powder is an eyeshadow that’s supposed to be a plummy color. I was ready to subscribe to this bag but once I saw a few subscribers mention the bag typo, I decided to wait it out.

I just got mine today and I absolutely love the Lumi Lip! I also love colored highlighters, and using them as eyeshadow too is a great idea.

My blue was also broken, and I’ve already taken pics, cleaned it up (though I put mine into a tiny jar before reading this about the alcohol hack), and emailed asking for a replacement. I’ve heard that this has been an ongoing problem with them, which is really too bad because they are one of my favorite boxes.

I got mine and I LOVE it! The white color in the highlighter palette is amazing! It has a purple pink blue iridescence! I put it on my cheekbones, eyebrow bones and nose. Then I put some over the Lumi lip topper and it gave it a really cool look! I used the blue over dark pink eyeshadow on my eyelids and it turned purple and gave it great depth and sheen. The lip topper smells declicious and is so sparkly! The shadow base stays put! I won this bag on instagram and I must say I think I may have to subscribe now!

My April palette was broken. They shipped a replacement but it was more damaged than the first. I just took it as a loss and will work to repair either one. I have never had problems with their customer service. My May palette was intact but I have a very warm based complexion and probably won’t use this color scheme. I am afraid to swap this as it may break. I love the tips on layering these colors though!

So if you’re unaware as stated in many comments above the palette is meant for a highlight. Colored or tinted highlights are very in at the moment. Just look at Anastasia and a Jeffree star highlighters. Also lip toppers and glitter eyeshadows are super trendy right now. If you’re not into the latest trends then maybe this bag isn’t your forte. In my opinion I think it’s fabulous for those who are trying to stay in the know of the latest trends but aren’t sure what to buy or wouldn’t pick these for themselves. So it great to see items that arent boring and in every other subscription out there like black eyeliner, brown or nude lipstick and and a boring highlight. That’s what sets this apart. Also can I add that Jelly pong pong is amazing and I discovered them thru birchbox. Their lip products are awesome. So if you want something boring and and vanilla then you might as well just go buy your normal products as usual. Can’t wait to receive my bag it will be so much fun!

Yes, sorry for getting it wrong when I first posted this review, but I since updated it to reflect that it is a highlighter palette!

Time to look at some youtube tutorials with blue highlighters! 🙂

Toni

I agree with you they definitely make better eyeshadows than highlighters

Jennifer Young

OH Liz it’s fine! Honest mistake. I think it’s used for both! I was just commenting to other subscribers who were saying they don’t like the bag! I’m excited to try it ! I’ve never tried a colored highlight so it should be interesting!

Mary K

I guess they should’ve made the highlighter palette out of diamond. Thanks, I’ll be here all week.

That’s not an eyeshadow palette it’s for the face.

This is definitely my favorite sub. I love the highlighter/shadow palette. It looks great on the cheekbones or on the eyes with some Mac fix plus.

Elizabeth

I wasn’t too excited about the bronzer because I can’t seem to make them work on my pale skin, but this one looks like it will make a lovely eye shadow!! Thanks for the swatches, Liz!

This is my second box. I doubt I’ll get much use out of the palette or lip topper, but I’m happy to have them in my collection for ‘special effects’ type looks. I’ve been on the hunt for a new eyeshadow primer so we’ll see how this one performs. Really hard to believe the bronzer is considered a full size but the color is beautiful. I’m pleased overall, but now that I’m off the waitlist for Boxycharm I’m on the fence about continuing with Lip Love.

I used to love So Susan, but after 6 months I have had enough.

The eyeshadow palettes and blushes are so small it’s not even funny. The lip products have strange textures that never apply well. Highlighting crayons look like from a kid’s pencil case. The bags had stickers half peeled off. A lot of redundant items.

The prices – how do I say it nicely – are bloody inflated. It’s a fun box for teenagers, but quality-wise it’s close to Claire’s.

One positive thing: the outer paper packaging IS adorable.

If you didn’t like this box I would love everything but the bronzer if you’d be willing to sell it!

I cancelled a year ago.

Cyndi

This is my third lip love bag and I’m having fun with the items they’ve sent. For the most part, these are not items that I would normally purchase for myself –that lip gloss is too sparkly for me too; one of my daughters can use it though. And the Lockdown Luster smells good enough to eat, which is strange to say about eyeshadow primer, right?

Alex

I always love the reviews of this sub. I’ve got to get it. I’m waiting in a good deal *crosses fingers*

The palette is actually a highlighter palette. At least that’s my understanding.

Liz Cadman

Oh!! That didn’t even occur to me – I was just thinking, “what a great sized eye shadow palette!”

Thanks for letting me know!

Yes, the product usage info states “Brush on dry over cheeks and brow bones to achieve a transformational glow.”

AAC

Yes, which is insane because who uses bright blue highlighter??? It’s literally electric blue. After my CS nightmare last month, I will be so glad to be done with my prepaid sub.

Reply ButtonReply

Bonnie

That blue highlighter is probably super pretty for an inner corner of eye highlight. Also maybe browbone. I do agree though…not on my cheeks or nose. But I’m pretty golden bronze.

Dorian

Oddly enough I adore blue highlighters, if you didn’t want them I’d love them, just let me know how much you’d want for them 🙂

Ash

Yes, you’re correct.

Swoon! I love the lip topper! Shimmery primer will be fun too. This continues to be one of my favorite boxes. I’d be interested to know how customer service handles the problem of your broken eyeshadow.

Missy

I am also in love with the lip topper and I’m 40! And it smells so delicious!! I also love the lip Primer it looks nice on it’s own! I love this sub, every month I just get excited for this one and I probably get over 30 subs so that’s saying a lot!

All of my items were in perfect condition this month and I love them! I did have a broken palette in a previous bag. I sent a picture to CD and they shipped out a replacement right away. They were very quick with the resolution.
