The Products: The Puchi Pack is a “small taste of Japan.” Each month you will receive 5-8 full and sample size snacks and 1 handmade origami. A content list with pictures is included in the pack.

Good to know: The box ships around the 15th of the month. I received mine the 13th of May. The shipping time estimate is between 10 and 20 days.

All the snacks are sent directly from Japan so all the labels are in Japanese, of course. Freedom Japanese Market sends a list of the contents with a brief description in English.
Ume Paper – “Picked plum in a paper thin form- sweet and sour!”
My husband loves plum candy and buys some every time we find an Asian store. This wasn’t a new flavor to me but I’m not sure I love it – it is quite sour. I like the plum flavor though. This was the only item in the box our 7-year-old daughter, Cira, didn’t like.
Mix Fruit Mochi – “Mini apple and pineapple flavor pieces of sweet mocha (rice cakes).”
These taste so good that I was glad I couldn’t read the nutritional facts. These are sweet but the fruit flavor is strong and yummy. I couldn’t tell they were rice cakes at all, the texture is similar to our soft chewy candy. Cira loved these too.
Premium Umaibo – “Mozzarella and camembert cheese flavored puffed corn.”
Another winner here! I loved this snack. It is similar to Pirates Booty but the cheese flavor is much more pronounced. We all liked this snack a lot.
Shimi Choco Corn – “Cute star-shaped crispy corn puffs coated in strawberry chocolate.”
We all liked these but Cira claimed them. They really are cute and the flavor is good – more strawberry than chocolate though.
UFO Ramune – “Ramune flavored hard candy in four flavors: yogurt, peach, apple, and cider.”
Ramune is a popular flavored soda. My daughter loves these drinks and gets the special treat when we eat Japanese food. These candies were great. I’m not sure which flavor I ate but it was light, fruity, and fun.
Nagewa – “Beef consommé flavored ring-shaped potato crisps are fun to play with and eat!”
I know beef consommé flavor does not sound too appetizing but we all really liked those. The thin rings are fun, the beef flavor wasn’t really strong and the crispiness of the potato was just right.
Freedom Japanese Market includes a handmade origami with every box. This month there was a katana-shaped origami for children to play with in honor of Children’s Day. This is a nice addition to the box and Cira brought it to school for Show and Tell.
Verdict: We had so much fun with our first Puchi Pack from Freedom Japanese Market! Nothing was discarded in the box and honestly (shhh, don’t tell anyone else), we ate most of the snacks in one day. We had so much fun trying them that we just couldn’t stop. We’ll have to refrain next month.
Freedom Japanese Markets tries to send a good mix of sweet, sour and savory snacks and they did just that. For us, the $14.99 seems fair considering there is no way I could find anything like this where I live and we really enjoyed all six snacks.
