Now, onto the items!

Allure-beauty-box-april-2017-0016

AHAVA Mineral Body Lotion – (Travel Size 40 ml) Value $10

This lotion absorbs quickly, and left my skin feeling super soft - it's an amazing formula. The scent is a powder/floral fragrance. Not my favorite, but I don't mind it either.

Allure-beauty-box-april-2017-0017

Skin & Co. Roma Truffle Therapy Eye Concentrate – 5 ml Value $22

This eye concentrate cream is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and mineral oils! It is designed to help minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and this sample is 1/3 the size of the full-size version, so hopefully, I'll have enough product to sample to see results!

As far as immediate results go, I like that there is no detectable scent in this cream, and it instantly made my skin feel more hydrated.

Dr. Brandt Skincare PoreDermabrasion™ Pore Perfecting Exfoliator – .25 oz Value $7.25

Allure-beauty-box-april-2017-0019

(Good to know for subscription box swaps: this item has an inner foil seal.)

Allure-beauty-box-april-2017-0020

Dr. Brandt makes amazing exfoliators, and I'm always happy to see these samples in subscription boxes. Unlike the Age Defying exfoliator, this scrub has no discernable scent, and it is a clear (not white) formula. I also felt like scrubbing particles were a little finer.

I can't get over how smooth this exfoliator makes my skin feel - if you haven't sampled this yet, you are in for a treat!

The BrowGal Dual-Sided Highlighter in Nude/Toffee – FULL SIZE Value $20

Allure-beauty-box-april-2017-0012

This pencil is matte on both ends, so the "highlighter" term seems a little misplaced. (I was expecting some shimmer!)

The formulas are really creamy and have excellent pigment. I tried the toffee side on my brows, and the crayon works to both add pigment and keep brows in place. The color isn't perfect for me, though. I think I actually may end up using this as a contouring stick!

Here are both shades swatched:

Toffee, Nude, and at the bottom is the next item:

Allure-beauty-box-april-2017-0013

LaRitzy Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Cabernet – FULL SIZE! Value $18

Allure-beauty-box-april-2017-0014

(LaRitzy products are all cruelty and paraben free.)

Allure-beauty-box-april-2017-0015

As you can see in the swatch photo, this lip liner has great pigment. It had decent staying power, too. I was pleasantly surprised that a darker red shade ended up being really wearable for me.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $77.25. That's good for a $15 beauty box and a step up from last month's value. 2 full-size makeup items plus 3 high-end skincare brand samples is a good mix for me, too.

What do you think of the April Allure Beauty Box?

This box is regularly $15 a month, but you can use this link to save $5 off your first box. (If you sign up before the end of April, your first box will be the April box.)

Iv had allure for her over a year now and I use to love every single box I got. Untill maybe about 4 months ago:/ from then till now the boxs just got horrible I gave everything away. Such a shame because the old box was the best out there

I just cancelled. The customer rep offered me the next 4 months at $10 but I politely refused. I will continue to see if the value improves for me but as of now the box has been steadily disappointing which sucks because it used to be a fave.

I am extremely disappointed with the April box. The eyebrow pencil was a complete fail. I am dismayed that Allure would send out a product that is normally tailored to your unique brow color. The “nude” looks yellow over my brow. And the description is completely misleading. The booklet enclosed in the box describes the highlight potion as being shimmery, and leaving behind a golden highlight. They must have tested a different product because mine is a flat, matte nude. Like a concealer stick. Also, I want to add that I reached out to the Allure customer service to see if anything could be done about replacing it with different shade and the most there were able to do, after being on the phone a considerable amount of time, was to send out the same item. I don’t know what that is going to remedy this mishap but… oh well.
After my subscription is over I vow to never renew.

I subscribed to Allure (resubscribed, rather – I was a subscriber the first several months of 2016) during the holiday promotion of four months at $10 each. I didn’t even use up the fourth month, because I disliked what I was receiving that much, and now when I see these spoilers every month, I certainly don’t regret canceling.

I mean, it’s a shame, because I have really good memories of the way Allure used to be in the past, but at this point I am not holding my breath that they will ever get back to their glory days.

I first became aware of subscription boxes through a random email advertising Birch box and being a beauty product addict… I had to go for it. I had NO idea just how many different ones were put there. I was put on a waiting list for Sephora Play and switched to Allure in February this year (really disappointed in Birchbox) The 1st 2 months I was ecstatic with my Allure boxes and excited to see you get some full size products. But April’s box was the worst. Coincidentally, I am no longer on the waiting list for Sephora but I’m hesitant to give up on Allure. I like the fact that all the products aren’t tiny sizes and I think they’ll redeem themselves in May. The 3 spoilers I’ve seen have me excited and I’m so glad to be getting the Spring Eyeshadow shade for the Doucche Palette… It’s so pretty. Crossing my fingers that April was just a fluke because this box gave me something to look forward to every month!

I’ve been an Allure subscriber for over a year, and I cancelled once after receiving two sad boxes….then the boxes got awesome again and I regretted cancelling! I tried other subs, but I prefer Allure so I signed back up in December. Since then, the boxes have been good and bad. No box is perfect, but I like Allure the best. Once you cancel, they’ll be great again and you will miss out on something you really would like. No kidding…when I cancelled I kept an eye on what was in the Allure boxes and if something interested me I would purchase the travel size from the websites. I ended up spending more than if I would have just got the Allure box! LOL!…just FYI 🙂

Ugh not happy with Allure at all. I canceled immediately after the March box and yet for some reason money came out of my account last night. I did the chat and the girl said hmmm shows active and your box shipped 3 days ago. I find that strange that the box shipped 3 days before they charged me. Now I see the spoilers and yuck. It will all go up for swap.

Has anyone actually received the free eyeshadow palette after receiving their first box? If so, how long after did you get it and did they send tracking info?

Reply ButtonReply

Jill

Yes, I received mine about 2 weeks after my first box. The eyeshadow palette was actually an item in the box…so I have two now. I didn’t know at the time about the free palette so when I received it I thought it was a mistake. I did get the shipping info AFTER delivery, and then I knew why I got it.

Awesome–thank you!!!

Kris

I just received my allure beauty box. After reading all the comments I was a little worried I would really hate this month, but I’m actually really happy with it. I received:

*akar skin ruby tint lip balm. This is incredibly moisturizing with a very subtle tint and has stayed on my lips for over 4 hours now.
*Derma E Vitamin C serum
*John Frieda Volume 7 day in shower treatment
*Londontown lakur nail polish enchaned color in cheerio
*Londontown Kur nourishing cuticle oil

All in all I plan to use every single on of these items. I have never received any of these before and I’m really happy with my box.

I’m sad I have to cancel, but it’s not in the budget right now :/

I will always have a soft spot for Allure beauty box… They were like my first higher end beauty box I subscribed too. Well I think that anyway. The last 2 month I skipped. I glad I finally know how to skip because cancelling and subscribing really gets ugly. Also every time I cancel I just get jealous that I may miss out. I have been getting look fantastic now for the last 3 months and it really blows my mind.Plus I am on over load that I have become some crazy hoarder like my grandmother.blah blah blah…. Sorry

Laura r

Me too! I have to have a giant box of beauty items on hand. Weather it be for gifting, coming the rescue for beauty emergencies, etc. If the stash starts to dwindle, i panic! 😂

Reply ButtonReply

Lynn

How do you skip? I was looking for a way to cancel or skip and don’t see a way on their web page. I know there used to be a way but I didn’t see anything a day or two ago when I looked. Thanks for your help.

There should be a “Suspend” button on the left of the screen after you log in, but I read recently that some people aren’t seeing that option or the “Discontinue” button to cancel when they log in. It seems like Allure may have removed it for some reason. I read that chatting or calling gets a quick response.

Chrystal

Is this the last month of that $10 box deal they were offering? I’m hoping that the quality of the boxes improve next month. I was one of the people who subscribed during last May’s debacle. The February box has been the only one this year that has felt up to par to the Allure standard…

Reply ButtonReply

kia

They have one more month out of me. Last year May was the infamous month of the whole Foreo/your first box will be the next available box issue but that box was so good! I’m hoping this year will be the same else bye bye to Allure.

Reply ButtonReply

Resa

Meh. Still no shadow to update our pallet. The products are good brands…but just nothing that’s a hero item to me. I’m giving it until May, and then I think it’s time for Allure and I to part ways. :/

Jex

I do love allure and am still holding out hope, but I’m glad I’m not getting this one. Really hoping next month steps it up after just getting worse and worse since Feb.

Reply ButtonReply

Chris

I agree. This used to be the one box I would never give up. Now the one beauty box I won’t give up is Beauty Fix, for $9 more you get a ton more value and product. I will give Allure one more month. They are seeming more like Birchbox with the tiny samples.

Erin617

I wonder if your Browgal highlighter is a mistake. Online it says that one end is matte, the other is shimmer & it doesn’t show nude/toffee going together.

Reply ButtonReply

April Ciolek

Yes! There is nothing shimmery or gold about this pencil. Just 2 funky matte shades. Orangey beige and “tan”?
I’ve been kind of disappointed in the past few boxes.

Reply ButtonReply

Caligirl

So glad I cancelled this month no fomo..

Reply ButtonReply

Jess

I probably gift the lip liner and brow pencil. Too bad since those are the 2 full size item. Hope I can use all the items next month. I do love Dr Brandt products and like having travel size.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I’ll probably use everything but cancelled since this is my last $10 month and I need to work through product.

Reply ButtonReply

Becca

So happy I cancelled! No extra bonus item this month either.

Reply ButtonReply

catbert

Yeah, this looks scant. Happy I canceled, too.

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

Seems kinda boring this month to me.

Reply ButtonReply

Lia

Cannot wait for my box. Every time I “make up” my mind about canceling, they come back with a great box. I have way too many boxes – 10 in total and need to cut down but I don’t have the willpower to hit the cancel button.

Vianny

I am still waiting for the palette, and I been a subscriber since last year

What happened to the face mist?! That was the only reason I didn’t suspend my account this month.

Reply ButtonReply

Kate N.

Liz posted a revised spoiler a couple of weeks ago about this….sorry you missed it. 🙁 The Ahava Lotion is nice, though…

Reply ButtonReply

Jill

I know, right!?! 🙁 I guess they replaced the face mist with the Ahava Water Lotion.

I love LaRitzy products. Of the products I have used of their brand, 3 hold have the #1 spot for that genre in my book: eyeshadow (beautiful, very good pigment and staying power), blush (dreamy colors that provide a flawless/airbrushed finish), and liquid eyeliner (strong pigment, great consistency, excellent staying power and a brush applicator!!).
This lip-liner looks divine as well.
