We have the first spoiler for the April 2017 POPSUGAR Must Have box!

Each box will include:

MORNING CULTURE Dipped Bamboo Cutting Board – Retail Value $22

Function meets form with this gorgeous and eco-friendly kitchen addition. Dipped in food-grade paint, this pretty bamboo cutting board doubles as a space-saving serving tray.

POPSUGAR sent me this spoiler item early so I can answer any questions you might have about it!

It measures about 12 x 5.5 inches.

They recommend using the cutout handle to hold a bowl of dip:

  1. i know they applied “food grade” paint on the cutting board. but no way do i want over time, bits of paint in my food.

    • I eat not of metal from the pots anyways lol

  2. I like the idea of a cutting board, I like the color, but wish I could pass on the hole. At least make it much smaller, it takes up almost one third of the board.

    • I think I will use the cutting board in our picnic basket, it’s the perfect size, and serve cheese or something small on it.

    • You could put a small bowl of dipping sauce in the hole?

  3. Not really loving the lilac color. Will be up for swap.

I must be the only one who loved the March box. The plastic bag is great when I change out of my swimsuit for dining at the beach, already swapped for an extra bento box for daughter who says it makes her happy when she opens it at work (she’s 32 y/o). Highlighter great for inner eye brightening.
Popsugar never fails to have at least 1-2 items I like. Not bad for the bargain BF price!

    • I loved march box too. Use everything alot. I think maybe its because they arent putting that 1 super high end item (“$100” pouch, or the stuff from yrs before like fancy feb heart scarf….im hoping for luxe skincare like that pharm balm from last april 😍😍😍…since they havent done skincare in a while 🍀)

      • Uggg forgot the peel from jan…nvmd.
Fine. Idk what to wish for then 😣

    • I love this!!! Can’t wait to get it!

    • Think most people didnt like it because that red bag. That red bag. I don’t like red or see through bags lol

  4. Glad I’m not the only one who was struck by these lovely staged photos. I don’t know how long it took to do all these but either way, Emily has some serious skills!

  5. I love bamboo cutting boards! It’s all we own and we own 5 in different sizes. Nothing like this though! It’ll be our serving piece as we normally serve on the board anyway. This will be way prettier! Multiple uses as well. Much better than March already!

  6. Oh dear me! This is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
It’s too small. It can’t be put in the dishwasher.
At least the lilac paint clashes with my kitchen.
    So that’s something.

    • A chocolate teapot sounds delicious I would use that. I’m a little worried that they are leading with that item.

      • You’re right! A chocolate teapot would be a great thing to get in a Popsugar box. Set the stage for Easter’s chocolate 🐰bunnies. Yumsville.
And I sincerely hope that little wood board isn’t the best thing to come.

        • I’m down for a chocolate teapot too!

          • I would love a chocolate teapot!!!

  7. Just so you all are aware, this is the main item for the April box. Everything else will come from the Dollar Store!!! LOL 😀

    • Hope we get some gummy worms then- my fave dollar tree snack!

    • Celi, I bet we get the matching change purse and cosmetic bag for last months clear red plastic purse. Lol

      • Nooooo!! 😆

      • This made me laugh. Thank you! 🙂

  8. I’m not crazy excited about this, but it gives me a better vibe than the entire March box already.
Hoping they include a matching bowl. That would be awesome.

  9. LOVE this spoiler! I love home items and this is adorable! Cant wait for this months box 🙂

    • I can’t agree more!

  10. After last month’s awful box this is nice 👍

I just wish the color would have been more neutral since this doesn’t go with my décor. I may be able to sand the board and re-dip it in some other food-safe color. 🤔

  11. Already looks 100x better than the awful March box! It’s interesting because last April was mostly kitchen themed too.

  12. This is a total miss for me. I always want to sub to Popsugar because some of the boxes are really amazing. And then there’s last month’s box and this spoiler. I don’t care if the paint is food grade. It sketches me out.

  13. Nice! March was mostly a miss for me, so I’m looking forward to this.

  14. Great spoiler item!

  15. I love this spoiler. The cutting board is so cute. It certainly isn’t an everyday cutting board but will be great when company is over to serve apps. I like how it is style on the console table too.

  16. I like it a lot from this spoiler. I look forward to this box much more than this last month! 😉

  17. I’ve always wanted one of these! Loving this spoiler. Much better than this months

  18. Looks like they’re going to curate this box for grown ups!

    • Haha, exactly what I was thinking 😀

    • lol

    • Please, even my kids didn’t want the bag in the last box. As a matter of fact, even my usually-unaware-of-new-things hubby asked me what I was thinking when he saw it. 🙂

  19. Love this spoiler!! Last month’s box was a complete miss for me. Actually excited about receiving this one!

  20. It’s now a wow piece for me, but it is loads better than what I’ve seen from PS lately. Hopefully we are on an upward trend!

  21. I like this spoiler. I think it will be useful as I am always using cutting boards and trays.
I recently reorganized and updated my kitchen. I invested in some kitchen organizers, so this will easily slip into the cutting board organizer I got without adding any more clutter to my space.

  22. Im excited about this!

Love anything that has functionality and I can use in my every day life, this is perfect!

  23. Kinda glad I canceled after last month. It’s cute but I can’t see this being the OMG that makes me get the box.

    • Me, too! After the March box I couldn’t cancel fast enough. They are just too hit or miss lately. 🙁

  24. I don’t know, this looks really small and I stopped using the wood ones a long time ago… with the paint thing……doesn’t that make it even smaller because you can’t cut on that part? it’s not practical imo…..maybe because I use cutting boards every day and don’t have enough counter top space to have it laying out just looking cute. I’m glad i ended my sub for now….of course that will change in time.

    • The paint is food grade, so yes, you can cut on it. I think Liz’s ideas for alternative use are really great. So even if you don’t use a cutting board every day, I think this has a lot of uses.

  25. WANT! WANT!! WANT!!! I love to cook and NEVER have enough cutting boards….well, I don’t even own a wooden one….but I will!!!

  26. That’s so pretty! I also like that it stores away in very little space.

  27. Love this!!! Practical and useful! I love my beauty products but I literally have boxes of products in my closet. Nice to get a kitchen item for a change.(I’m new to Pop Sugar).

  28. Love it!! 😍😍

  29. love this. if you want to swap let me know.

    • Hi Angela!
I will be getting three, and I am already trying to reduce my kitchen arsenal (including all of my Le Cruset because of a chronic problem with my dominant arm).
      Are you after three?

      • Rosemary–if I may ask, what color Le Cruset pieces do you have?

        • Hi Mallory!
They are red with the cream interior. I dreamed of owning them for most of my life, and now I can’t use them. Sooooooo disappointed. Now I just use whatever I have that weighs the least.

          • I would totally buy some from you (red is my le cru colors!) if you were selling them, but i think they are going to a nightmare to ship cause they are so heavy.

          • What state are you located in?

          • Montana

  30. OK now this is much better already than the last few boxes. It is very unique & original. Hopefully everything else will be just as great.

  31. I stopped using wood cutting borders. They are not dishwasher safe and you have to really scrub them to make sure no bacteria grows there. I use plastic one.

    • I only use wooden ones for vegetables and fruit, things like that. It grosses me out to think of cutting chicken or something on there, because it’s so porous. I use plastic ones for meat

    • I only use wooden boards for bread or for plating a cheese board or the like. I love this one because it will easily hold a little container of oil or dip for a nice bread service.

    • My boyfriend is a chef and only uses wooden boards! He hates plastic. Uses for all food even meat. Just add some bleach to the water when cleaning.

      • Yes. Or vinegar! Then season with oil every so often. 🙂

    • Plastic boards over time end up providing more hiding places for bacteria from the cuts in the surface. Quality wood cutting boards are naturally more antibacterial, and cleaning them isn’t hard if you use vinegar to disinfect.

  32. I LIKE this, it’s really cute and versatile.

  33. With six kids, I’m cooking for eight people every day! How big is this board? It’s cute, but looks just big enough for a single-serve kinda thing at my house 🙂

    • I have five and thought the same thing haha

  34. Cute!

  35. Me before looking at your staged photos: I don’t really like this. Definitely don’t want it.

Me after looking at your staged photos: I mean obviously I need this cutting board.

    • ME TOO. When I saw this in the email I was like “eh, don’t need it. I’ll add it to my sisters housewarming gift, she will love it!” And now I saw Liz’ pictures and…. I want to keep it.

    • HAHA! Right?

    • If Liz ever wants to stop reviewing boxes, I think she has a real future in product photography!

      • I can’t take credit here – the beautiful pictures are all Emily! 🙂

        • I always wondered who takes the photos. They’re great!

          • 🙂 🙂 thank you!

    • I know, these posts by Liz make me want to buy anything!

      • I think what is nice about the pics is that it gives me tips that I wouldn’t have thought of. I see this piece in my future as more entertaining and serving small items than for cutting.

    • LOL, me too!

  36. Loooovvveee it! The only thing i hate is that its too pretty, deinitely not cutting things on it. Ill stick to my thick plastic ones…. except….isnt eating scratched off plastic ummm not good?? Do i need to go buy all new cutting bords? Oh nooooo
Ahhh cant wait…coffee and cookies on my desk without looking like a slob= yes please

  37. I love it the paint is foodgrade so it’s all good. Now I know many will still complain as normal and sometimes abnormally. This will be an awesome box wish they had home decor/functional home products because they are always so great. I can decorate the red purse however it is a new trend now I have seen many just different styles of the red see through vinyl.

  38. Already better than March, I love this! I don’t put wooden cutting boards in the dishwasher anyway.

  39. Of course. And I like it. And I need two… Because in my mind, everything is better in pairs…

  40. If anyone doesn’t want it I would love to swap or buy it from you!

    • Sorry if this double posts, I forgot to log in before trying to reply to you earlier. I’m 95% sure I’m getting this box and would be happy to work something out with you.

  41. I want this!!! I only hope that my new sub will start with the April box…

  42. I am rarely excited about the spoilers but I LOVE this. I hope it is indicative of a “kitchen-focused” box like last April!!

    • Yes!!! That is exactly what I was thinking. I am so excited for this spoiler, and the color matches my house perfectly! I hope it’s kitchen focused too. I LOVED last April’s box!

  43. Love this! Last aprils box was one of my favs! Still us everything out of it!

  44. Oh dear. A painted cutting board is not my jam.

    • I would love to swap for it or buy it and take it off your hands!

  45. you could also position it (for actual chopping) partially over the sink so you can just sweep end parts, etc into the garbage disposal. I like this a lot- it is functional and also can be a nice serving platter.

    • That’s a great idea!

  46. On the whole, I already like this much, much better than the March 2017 box! But I don’t like how the cutting board is not dishwasher safe. But still, Popsugar always churns out GREAT home items in their boxes, which I think are always a better and safer option than their sometimes (ahem awful plastic red bag from March) strange fashion/style picks! In conclusion: Thumbs up so far!

  47. LOL thought it was a door hanger at first. I like it, and it’s something different. 🙂

    • I thought it was a door hanger too lol !

    • Me too! Very cute cutting board (and so much more practical than a door hanger! 😉 )

  48. Sure, why not?

  49. Now THIS is a spoiler I can get excited about (and it will match my blue kitchen!)!

  50. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!
