I previously bought a couple limited edition boxes but decided to take the plunge and get a monthly sub a couple weeks ago. It initially said my first box would be the MAY box but I just checked now and it says MARCH! I’m really excited!!

I love POPSUGAR! It’s true that I receive items I won’t use, but that goes with the experience of a subscription box. There are usually more things I love in it than that I won’t use.

As far as marketing ploys mentioned in some of the comments, wouldn’t most people subscribe to a box because they think they will enjoy it, not because it sold out?

Also, after all the special deals they offered around the holidays, I think a lot of people take a wait and see approach. So many of us paid full price for months of boxes that were later offered on Gilt City or at a discount. Sept, Oct, Nov, and Jan were all sold for lower prices after the fact. You could also wait for the cheaper mystery boxes, and then they did that HUGE Boutique sale where you could actually buy specific items at a 75% discount. There’s not much of an incentive to subscribe monthly if you think you wait for those kinds of deals. But if they tell you all the future boxes are already sold out….That’s why it’s shady.

Don’t underestimate the motivating force of FOMO haha

So I cancelled after receiving the February box because I was getting out of hand and needed to cut costs. Then I started seeing the posts that the next box was May so I finally caved in and resubscribed – then it indicated that my next box is April. However, when I checked my account it stated March. I guess they are trying to please their avid customers and did everything possible to meet the customers’ demands. I would like to take a positive spin on this – given that their boxes are one of my favorites and they always delivered on value as well as creativity in curation. I am wondering though why there aren’t any spoilers for March given that it is already March! Well then, it would be a lovely surprise I am sure.

I think this is very shady business. I think they put out that announcement to get people to subscribe, like if no boxes aren’t available until May, I better subscribe today or else I might not even get May! They caused hype and “panic”. I cancelled my sub last July because April-July sucked for me. I resubbed in January & January was a total no go for me. I did love February, but honestly the business is so sketchy now.

Sorry but panic over a sub box selling out is over the top dramatic and ridiculous. Fomo yes but panic?! Hardly.

Sera

That’s why panics was in quotes!

Sera, I used that exact same word, “shady,” in my comment two weeks ago on the post about March and April being sold out. I knew it was bogus. Well, perhaps it was plausible at the time, if they were counting on all current subscribers renewing, but that’s an unreasonable assumption.

Yes! I just feel like it’s a bad marketing ploy and one people can clearly see through. I wanted to purchase for three months but wasn’t sure how I would get out of getting duplicate boxes. With that announcement it seemed like if I cancelled and resubbed I wouldn’t get the next box until May so I just kept it at a monthly, for no reason apparently🙄

also, if I find one possibly two things on the review I really like, I almost always find a person who will swap with me.

Honestly, I’m not that impressed with popsugar and have cancelled.

I signed up earlier today when it said April. And I just checked my account and it says I’m getting the May box. That’s not a great way to keep a new customer.

When I signed up lat week it said my first box would be May. I just looked at my account and it says first box: March 2017. So excited! This will be my first Popsugar box!

It still says May for me…

This is the first month in a long time I won’t be getting a box. I clicked the gift check box when I signed up for the better than black Friday deal so that means I couldn’t add on to the deal. 😥 Serious FOMO cause I am too frugal to pay full price.

I had a three month sub that ends with March, so I just cancelled mine, which opens up another spot in April. I’m assuming I’m not the only one! I like the Popsugar boxes for $20ish, but not for $36ish.

The March box just showed up in my Fed Ex tracking. 3.4 lbs!

Mine has been delivered today but I can’t pick it up until Saturday. The suspense is killing me!

Linda

Ohhhh im so jealous!!! Hoping now that im back in ny mine gets to me early 😉
And hoping for a body wash or candle causing that weight, and not a book 😈
It has to be a “hop into spring” theme…but have got no clue what a march box can look like…now im excited!

Marissa

Wow that’s heavy! February was only 1.8lbs!

Any spoilers yet Liz? For March? I still have Prepaid through August thanks to the black friday deal so I LOVE looking out for these spoilers. Whole box seems free every month lol (Though I paid about $20 a month for them I think)

I believe we should be getting a spoiler this week! 🙂

When we will see spoilers for March box? Last month we saw spoiler on the 23 and this month nothing yet 🙁

Ugh. I signed up for 3 month deal during nov. specials and for some reason I was thinking I was getting jan-feb-march, but it was dec-jan-feb, I just upgraded but now i’m probably going to miss out on march. Super bummed!

Reply ButtonReply

stfne

Don’t get too bummed. Just two weeks ago they claimed March and April were both sold out and new subs would start with May. Clearly that was bogus. I’d bet money you’ll still get March.

With the surge in subscribers due to Black Friday deals, Christmas presents and people wanting February boxes they probably maxed out their subscription capacity limit. As people cancel and fade out, more spots open up.

Pilar

Didn’t you posted this at the beginning of the month?

If I signed up last week when they said I’d get the May box, will I now get the April box automatically?

mtvb

Hmmm… Maybe cancellations have been far higher than they expected. I thought is was discouraging signing up for a monthly (!) subscription in Feb when the first delivery was mid-late May. For me, that was a huge turn-off. I’m glad they are now offering boxes earlier. Hopefully, they will be good! Feb wasn’t nearly as good as other Feb boxes.
