This month's OURS by Blackjoy theme is "Spring Forward." There’s a product card included in the boxand on the back, the products are broken up by “OUR Hair, OUR Skin, OUR Beauty, and OUR Health”. The back of the product card had a typo and reads “the February Box” at first I got confused and thought I had received last month’s box and not the March’s Box but upon viewing their posts on Instagram I had the right box.

Natural Hold Spray Gel, 8 oz. - Value $2.25 on sale (original price: $9)

This natural hold spray gel is great for straight, chemically straightened, and curly hair. It’s a fine mist spray to aid in achieving a crunchy hold on your hair style, plus it’s great as a curling spray. I currently have my hair in interlocks and usually wear my hair in a variety of braided styles, so I will pass this product on to my sister who it’s best suited for. More from Jane Carter Solution:

Natural Hold Spray Gel leaves your hair smooth, shiny, and bouncy with long-lasting hold.
This amazing water-based, alcohol-free curling spray put moisture BACK into your hair and protects your hair during heat styling. Use small amounts for springy curls, a heavier concentration for more hold.

Hydrating Invigorating Shampoo, 2 oz. - Value $1.24 based on $5 sale price for 8 oz. (original price $10)

This shampoo is great for curly, coiled, and chemically straightened hair. I look forward to using this on my next wash day. More from Jane Carter Solution:

Infuse moisture while gently cleansing your hair and scalp. This SULPHATE FREE shampoo employs humectants that helps your hair hold more moisture with an added hint of peppermint to wake up your scalp.

Nourish & Shine - Value $11.00?

This multi-use blend of butters and natural oils is ideal for my dry skin and hair. It’s suggested to use on tightly coiled, chemically straightened, medium to coarse and transitioning hair. It’s kid friendly and great for giving nourishment and shine to my hair. I used on my scalp and it worked wonders for my dryness. Also, it worked best on my dry skin, especially my hands without leaving a greasy residue.

OUR Skin:

Kaike Body Frosting, 1 oz. - Value $6.25

OMG, this smells amazing, just like frosting on a birthday cake. Its multi-use and great for my hair and body. I used as directed after I showered, so I applied to my damp skin for added moisture. As I applied it, it was greasy but once I massaged into my skin there was no evidence of a greasy residue. It’s great for makeup removal, facial moisturizer, healing balm for scrapes, cuts, and burns. Its intended use for my hair is a balm for twists and twist outs for natural or kinky curly hair and to lay down my edges.

OUR Beauty:

She’ Color’s Oh Tiffi Nail Lacquer - Value $6.00?

This particular nail polish color can not be found on their website, but there's an array of colors to choose from as well as lip glosses. This polish is vegan, free of the big 5 chemicals (‘formaldehyde, toluene, camphor, dibutyl phathalate (DBP) and TPHP Triphenyl) found in a typical nail polish. The color is perfect for Spring.

OUR Health:

Addictive Apothecary Foot Balm-Peppermint & Rosemary, 4oz - Value $15.00

This foot balm has an intoxicating aroma, the peppermint and rosemary engulfed my senses. This nourishing balm has essentials oils and mango butter and just what my dry cracked heels needed. I applied as directed and look forward to sandal-ready feet. Steps to sandal ready feet from Addictive Apothecary:

Step 1: Soak your feet and warm water along with some Epson Salt.

Step 2: Scrub your feet with a moisturizing sugar scrub.

Step 3: Rinse your feet off an apply a foot balm that includes Peppermint & Rosemary Essential oils. Place cotton socks on your feet and you’re done.

Verdict: OURS By Blackjoy has box value of $41.74 which breaks even with the box cost when you include shipping. I love this box and appreciate how they break up the products into the four categories for “OUR Hair, OUR Skin, OUR Beauty, and OUR Health”. They are catering to OUR whole self and I like that!  I enjoyed the majority of the box and will put the items to use.

Was this the first box your reviewed by this company? How long have they been around? I have to say I was not that impressed by the products in the box. As a box for woman of color I can appreciate what they are trying to do and it is hard to try and make everyone happy, but I feel that throwing hair products in takes no thought. As a woman of color I am interested in so much more than just hair products, try finding a make-up line line BlackUp or Black Opal or even Iman that can offer products for different skin tones.

I was sort of thinking the same thing. I wasn’t impressed with this box at all, and I’m very easy to please when it comes to sub boxes. The products seem fine, but the $35/month cost kills it for me. This box felt a little “thrown together”, and reminds me of the My Berry Boxx from Berry Curly I recently tried and cancelled after one box. Same price ($35/month), but it just felt like there was no thought put into the curation of it (at least for this month’s box), and it was incredibly underwhelming for the price paid.

I would still like to see this box reviewed though to see if it gets any better.
