Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth - Retail Value $22.99 (On Amazon for $13.85)

Lit-Joy-Crate-January-2017-0011

Book summary from Amazon:

On a planet where violence and vengeance rule, in a galaxy where some are favored by fate, everyone develops a currentgift, a unique power meant to shape the future. While most benefit from their currentgifts, Akos and Cyra do not—their gifts make them vulnerable to others’ control. Can they reclaim their gifts, their fates, and their lives, and reset the balance of power in this world?

Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra’s currentgift gives her pain and power—something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother’s hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.

Akos is from the peace-loving nation of Thuvhe, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Though protected by his unusual currentgift, once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive—no matter what the cost. When Akos is thrust into Cyra’s world, the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. They must decide to help each other to survive—or to destroy one another.

Galaxy Bracelet - Value $12?

Lit-Joy-Crate-January-2017-0016

LitJoy does an amazing job of tying in all their bookish items to the featured book, and this bracelet is no exception. It's a fitting accessory for this sci-fi book!

Blooming "Hush Flower" Tea - Value $2?

Lit-Joy-Crate-January-2017-0019

This green tea is inspired by the "hush flowers" in the book. (Plus tea and books always go perfectly together for me!)

Lit-Joy-Crate-January-2017-0020

It came with tea prep instructions, too.

Fingerless Gloves - Value $14?

Lit-Joy-Crate-January-2017-0024

These gloves connect to the story as well. (Cyra uses gloves to cover her marks.) These are really practical for me, and they're in my favorite color to wear - black!

Elle Pea Tea Sugar Lip Scrub - Value $6

Lit-Joy-Crate-January-2017-0018

This vanilla bean flavor is delicious! And I love the lip scrub in a tube instead of a jar. So much easier to use!

Verdict: I think LitJoy Crate is such a delight to unbox! You can tell that a lot of thought and work went into this box to tie all the items in with the book, too. This box is about $40 shipped to the US, so I think the value is there if you enjoy the bookish accessories and items as well. The value for this box came to about $47 (including the Amazon sale price of the box).

And I think LitJoy does a great job of picking popular new books each month. This one has been on my list, and while I'm finding it slow to start, I'm determined to finish it!

Is this for children or adults? Most of these boxes seem to be geared toward women. What is you have a son that really likes to read?

It makes me sad that pretty much all of the “nerdy” boxes all include metal jewellery in almost every box. I’m very allergic and can only wear fabric/leather stuff, sucks cause these boxes are amazing other wise.

This box is consistently a winner. It is my favorite YA box and my second favorite over all book box out of all the book boxes.

What’s your number one book box? Just curious!

Beautiful Madness Bookcase.🙂 My Lit Box is great too. They promote people of color. It is a smaller book box however, it is always tastefully curated and the books are phenomenally good. FYI, I am 49 but I love all genres.

Michelle

Jessica I just got my first Thrill Club book box and I love it. You get 2 books plus a DVD in 1 of I think 5 genre picks. Mine is horror but I was so impressed I think I will get the mystery one too.

Janie

Wow this is an awesome box! The first book box I’ve seen in a while that everything is a hit for me. Might have to get this one!
