Here are the items included in the Basic level ($24.99 cost / $79.44 value):
Bastion EDC Utility Wallet – Value $39.99
As usual, we start Battlbox off with a really cool item. This aluminum utility wallet is light and unlike most wallets, has a ton to offer! Screwdrivers, a can/bottle opener, and a file are all built into the wallet itself. It is large, so actually utilizing some of these may be a little cumbersome, but they’ll do in a pinch, especially if it’s all you have on you. The wallet is designed to hold 6-7 cards in its elastic strap. In addition to the extra built in tools, the wallet itself provides RFID protection to keep your data safe. This also comes in a presentation case, so if you’re not feeling it, it would be perfect for gifting!
Battlbox Zippo – Value $14.95
I used to collect Zippos and carry them as a fidget toy, so I was really excited to see the familiar logo when opening up this box. The Battlbox logo is on the front of this one, and without text the logo is pretty perfect for a Zippo. The lighter has a worn finish so it looks like it’s seen some stuff but rest assured it’s brand new. And of course it carries the lifetime guarantee! You could drop this off the space needle, send it back to zippo, and they’d get it back to you in working order.
Swiss+ Tech 6-in-1 Utilikey Multitool – Value $7.50
This is a neat little tool that packs a ton of functionality into a tiny key sized package. It splits apart to make it super easy to latch on or take off of a key ring, and it locks into place to make sure it’s not going anywhere you don’t want it to. The six tools are:
- Flat Screwdriver
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Micro-Sized Screwdriver
- Straight Blade Knife
- Serrated Blade Knife
- Bottle Opener
It’s a little difficult to get open, but that surely has to be the design. You wouldn’t want a blade to open very easily.
EDC Belt Sleeve – Value $7.00
This little sleeve is perfect for carrying a knife, a clip, mints, a cellphone, you name it, right on your belt. It would be great on a backpack strap too if you wanted to keep something at chest level! I show it here with the Bastion Braza Folder (more on that later) but it could easily store some wound-up cables, a couple of pens, etc. It’s a great item and very thoughtful curation in an EDC box!
Readyman Basic Membership – Value $10.00
Included for free is a basic membership to ReadyMan, a community founded by US Special Operation Forces veterans and skilled outdoorsmen. With the basic membership, you get the following:
In addition to the items included in the Basic box, here are the items included at the Advanced level: ($49.99 cost / $189.43 value)
Smith Optics Hudson Elite Sunglasses – Value $80.00
This was definitely the WOW item for me this month. I did not expect to see a really nice set of sunglasses in here! These Smith shades are super light, sleek, and provide 100% protection from UVA/UVB. There’s an included pouch to keep the lenses from getting scratched up and it doubles as a wipe cloth, at least for me.
Battlbox Larkin Tactical Pen – Value $29.99
This pen has so many features! First, you’ve got the Battlbox logo on the cap, very subtle, and that’s the only branding you’ll find. Next, the cap screws off revealing o-rings, so you know it’s got some good water resistance. Next, the ink insert is the kind you can write with in any direction (think space pen). Finally, at the opposite end, you’ve got a glass breaker/striker. Battlbox also markets this as a Kubotan though there is no keyring attachment. I’ve been carrying this pen since opening the box, and I couldn’t be happier with it! If you’re not into this pen (how could that be?) this also comes in a presentation box, so you can gift it!
In addition to the items included in the Basic and Advanced boxes, here are the items included at the Pro level: ($99.99 cost / $274.37 value)
Olight M1X Striker Flashlight with 18650 Battery Included – Total Value $70.95
My wife will tell you I have a growing obsession with flashlights, and while I’m not as extreme as some, I will admit I probably have more than is really necessary. So when I saw this light at the bottom of my box, I was ecstatic! The Olight M1X can blast out 1000 lumens for about an hour on full charge. That’s crazy! And the beam can be thrown up to 623 feet. It’s really bright. Plus it has a striker tip, so it can double as a self-protection weapon. It comes with a 18650 battery, which looks like a long C-size battery, and it’s rechargeable, which is fantastic. It’s not too heavy but it is made of metal so it feels like a solid, well-built light.
18650 Dual Battery Charger – Value $3.99
And you’re going to need one of these chargers to get repeated use out of the 18650 battery that came with the Olight M1X. I haven’t had to use this yet, but I’m really glad Battlbox included this with the box.
Readyman Premium Membership – Value $20.00
Pro and ProPlus BattlBox subscribers automatically get access to the Premium side of ReadyMan, which includes the following:
In addition to the items included in the Basic, Advanced and Pro boxes, here are the items included at the ProPlus level: ($149.99 cost / $404.36 value)
Bastion Gear Braza EDC Folding Knife – Value $129.99
Daaaang, look at that knife! This folder from Bastion Gear is solidly built, it feels heavy in your hand even though it’s not very large. The handle is titanium coated stainless steel while the blade itself is D2 tool steel. It has a locking mechanism of course, and a built-in belt clip and the folding action is super smooth. When the blade is extended the knife measures 8.25”. This knife is really handsome, and would be a great addition to an EDC kit!
Verdict: Wow, I was really excited when I heard the theme for this month’s BattlBox and I was not let down in the slightest. Every item in here is high quality and would be excellent additions to anyone’s EDC kit. The value here is $404.36, which is amazing for a $149.99 box! Every month Battlbox blows me away with their thoughtful curation and amazing value. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for next month!
