Rika Bootie in Taupe - retail $59.95 (VIP price: $39.95)
This month I was immediately drawn to these faux suede, taupe peep-toe booties. ShoeDazzle has started to roll-out their spring assortment so there were a lot of great choices, but I really liked the color and details of this shoe. The taupe is a warm shade that pairs well with some of the blush-toned clothes I have in my closet. This particular dress is a tad short in the front, so I layered the pair of faux leather leggings I kept from last month's Trunk Club. I love this look!
In past ShoeDazzle reviews, I've mentioned that I stick to wearing shoes that have a 2-inch heel or less. However, this bootie has a 4-inch heel, which I totally underestimated when perusing the new arrivals! Since there is no front platform, the heels feel particularly high. They fit true-to-size and are comfortable while standing, but I will reserve wearing these shoes for a night out that won't require walking at great length.
I really like the modern design of this shoe. The faux suede is soft and of good quality, and the brass grommets contrast nicely. ShoeDazzle also offers this pair in Black and Denim (a fourth color, Sand, is currently sold out).
The ankle straps are faux leather. I really like the texture of the strap and think it works well with the suede. The straps are also adjustable and create a cool zig-zag in the side cut-outs. I can easily wear these with or without socks or tights depending on the season and outfit.
I love that these shoes can also be paired with skinny denim, which I basically live in. The top of the shoe hits an inch or two above the ankle and I think they would also look awesome with an ankle-cropped pant. To finish this look, I wore the top I chose for this month's JustFab (review coming soon!) and statement accessories with a similar neutral tone. So fun!
Verdict: I liked this month's ShoeDazzle pick, but I'll probably wear them less than any other pair of shoes I've received so far. They are great quality, but the heel is just too high for everyday wear. These booties retail for $59.95 and have a VIP price of $39.95, which I am happy with.
