The theme this month is “Hebrides Tweed Society.” The Menswear Club always sends a postcard with some information about the items and the value of the box; I really find this helpful, especially when some of the items are non-branded.

Frederick Thomas Check Tweed Tie – Value $24.71 USD

This might be my favorite tie that we’ve ever received in a subscription box! It is really classy, a heavier weight tie, and 100% wool. The wool is very soft, and the pattern is quite nice. The Menswear Club recommends wearing this with a Navy or Burgundy blazer, but I think it would work with a variety of other colors as well.

Keep It Simple Socks – Gray Heather Socks – Value $12.00

These socks are made with 80% cotton, 17% polyester, and 3% elastane. This is a pretty good composition for socks in my opinion. These socks are quite soft, a nice basic color with no print (a departure from normal sub box socks for sure!), and hold their shape well.

Cantucci Fine White Linen Pocket Square – Value $9.90

This pocket square is made of 100% linen, which ensures that it keeps its shape when folded. The color coordinates well with the tie included this month, so if you’d like to go for a dapper combination, I would pair these two with a gray suit. The only complication is that the pocket square isn’t quite white, so you’ll probably want to go with a non-white shirt for this ensemble!

Buckler’s Chapped Skin Remedy – Value $10.00

This hand cream is crafted from chamomile and calendula extracts, aloe juice and shea butter. I am not a huge fan of the packaging (who really enjoys dipping their fingers into narrow pots to get the product out? Not me…always gets stuck in my nails!), but the formulation itself is fantastic. There is little to no scent, which is perfect for a masculine hand cream.

Word Notebooks – Charcoal Notebook – Value $3.33

This notebook is really cleverly set up. I love the bullet points on each line, along with the use guide on the front of the notebook. The sheets themselves are nice and thick, so you won’t have to be concerned much with ink bleed through. The size is also pretty great – it would have no problem fitting in a breast pocket, or thrown into a briefcase!

Verdict: This is one of our favorite months from The Menswear Club. Each of the items was really classy and fit the theme perfectly. The value for this month is about $60.00. I thought the tie was priced really well for what it is – it’s could easily sell for $60.00 on its own. This was a perfect January box – the tweed is perfect for winter, the chapped skin remedy is also perfect for colder months, and the charcoal notebook is perfect to keep track of all your resolutions (if you’re into that sort of thing).

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane…the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane…but she’s always looking for a new subscription to try!
