Men’s Health Subscription Box Review – Winter 2016
The Men’s Health Box is a quarterly box from Men’s Health magazine. They set out to include a set of life-improving products that were featured in the magazine. It includes everything from small snacks to the latest in fitness tech.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Box: Men’s Health Box
The Cost: $89.99 + $8 S/H To US
The Products: a mix of fitness, food, tech and grooming products four times a year. The content of each box is selected by Men’s Health editors, represent best-of-class products that have been tested and, in most cases, featured in the magazine.
Good To Know: For the review, I’ll pull the values from the card, but also check some websites for more pricing information.
Men’s Health Box is a lifestyle box for men that sends items from 5 categories – Fashion, Grooming, Nutrition, Fitness, and Tech.
You’ll get an info card in your box. This will give a brief description of your items along with the retail value. I’ll be using these values in the review.
Stance Socks – Value $18
There are two pairs of socks this month – which had me a bit giddy as I’m still in my ‘excited for socks’ phase.
These are performance Run Wool socks from Stance. These breathable socks are made to keep your feet cool and dry during any activity. These are some of the most comfortable socks I’ve worn. The fit is perfect, it almost felt like it snapped into place once it hit my heel.
Moustard Dress Socks – Value $15
The second pair of socks are graphic dress socks from Moustard.
Mine have little sharks on them, but I’m not sure if the pattern is the same for every box. These are your typical dress socks – thin with extra padding at the heel and toe. Compared to the Stance socks, it’s no contest, but I’m not sure it’s a fair comparison.
Moustard Pocket Square – Value $25
The next item is also from Moustard – it’s a pocket square.
If you’re looking to step up your wardrobe – this pocket square is ready to help!
DIBI Magnetic Lapel Pin – Value $36
Now here is something I have yet to see in a subscription box!
These unique lapel pins are both magnetic and 100% vegan leather – very cool! I’ll be saving this for the next time I’m in need of a lapel pin – I love that it’s magnetic and you don’t have to fuss with an actual pin.
DIBI Shoe Laces – Value $48
These show laces are also from DIBI – but I haven’t found them available for sale on their site.
This 5-pack of polka-dotted Oxford show laces are finished with gold tips! I love it!
Degree Active Deodorant Dry Spray – Value $5
While this is a basic item from a name brand – I’ll never have enough deodorant, and after using it this morning, it might become a favorite.
Taconic Shaving Soap – Value $10
This is a premium lather for your next shave.
I also love that it’s in bar form – kind of perfect for the shower.
Marlowe Men’s Facial Moisturizer – Value $8
One item that I used this morning was this Marlowe moisturizer. Wow – It smells good and moisturized incredibly well. Another new favorite!
Das Book Shampoo + Conditioner + Everything Wash – Value $62
Das Boom just happens to be my favorite soap/shampoo brand, so I was over-the-moon excited to see these items this month! I discovered this brand in Bespoke Post and have loved them since my first sniff – this will be your new favorite!
New Zealand Beef Jerky – Value $8
Not much to say other than delicious!
This isn’t a chewy jerky, but it’s also not rock hard. It’s also more on the citrusy side than spicy. Overall, just good, basic, jerky.
Detour Bar – Value $2
This is another name brand item this month.
I received Salted Caramel Cookie Dough – and yes, it was as good as it sounds. Typically, I find bars like these to be a bit dry and leave a bad aftertaste – but this Detour bar did neither.
Pro Hand Exerciser – Value $25
This grip exerciser is a bit newer than ones I had used in the past. I’m used to the single bar, and not the individual finger works outs. This is nice to have at my desk, working and typing so much can really put a damper on my wrists – so this should help.
Riptensity DVD – Value 11? (based $69.99 6-DVD set)
This is a single workout from the 6-DVD Riptensity set made by Men’s Health. As you can tell, it’s pretty paired down from their actual DVD set offering – but is a nice sampler to see if you’re interested in getting more workouts.
Outdoor Tech Minnows Wired Ear Buds – Value $19
The last item in the box was a tech item for your workouts.
These ear buds are designed to be sweat resistant, lightweight, and come with a built-in microphone.
It’s got the audio controls in-line as well. The sound deadening was really good for earbuds, while the sound was a bit muddy. But, for the $19 price tag, it’s a really good set of ear buds.
Verdict: This is only my second delivery of the Men’s Health Box – but it sort of feels like FabFitFun for men! I also feel like I’m enjoying this as much as Liz enjoys her lifestyle boxes, too. My values came to around $293, too, which is excellent for the (almost) $100 price tag – I’m loving it so far!
