I signed up so I could get that 12 piece free, which just arrived today. I’m pretty impressed with Julep thus far. I emailed them about my first box and they let me choose my three items instead of picking for me. I ended up getting zero polishes and picked up a eyeliner and two beautiful looking eyeshadow sticks. I was surprised at the amount of cosmetics that they have and the reviews are exceptional. I already want the blush stick and a few others.

I just signed up, I couldn’t resist that free 12 piece set. I’ve been wearing the same 3-4 colors for years. It is official…I have a subscription addiction. I do have question about this sub. Do they suggest your box then you get to customize?

You do get a recommended collection based on your profile that you filled out. If you would rather select your own products you can do that to some degree… I haven’t quite figured out what the limitations are but you do get to chose what items you want to a certain point if you decide not to take the the suggested one. Hope that wasn’t confusing.

I was going to be good and stick with a few polishes.

But I got an email this morning and they are doing a new Zodiac collection for 2017 and Aquarius is really pretty.

I love those lip balms and will probably opt in for February. But I sooo wish Julep would show real swatches and not just photoshop estimations. Drives me bananas and I have often been surprised, rarely for the good.

If you look up julep chat with Jane on Facebook they often post real swatches on there! Also on snapchat too

Love the new shades of it’s balm but I’m so excited for their foundation to come out that I’m almost a little disappointed in february. I’ll still be getting a box though, there’s plenty here that I like and will use.

I sorta was a little disappointed also, however I was like, no hearts or angels shooting their bows, lol. Maybe a mystery box on the horizon though! That’s what I was thinking, hopefully something exciting!

I’m definitely in the minority here, I love this months colors! I also want to try the lip colors so I may do the upgrade to the whole thing.

Utena

I’m in it too. I love the colors for February and will probably get all of them. I’ve skipped the last two months but I like these colors and the new eyeliners and the new lip colors.

I also like the lip colors, except the pink wouldn’t work for me. I agree with the comment that it would be nice to see real swatch photos instead of photoshopped ones. The berry looks really pretty, and I’m not sure which brown-ish nude shade would work for me. Definitely getting the berry one though.

Suzanne

I only paint my toenails (when it’s warm enough, so about half the year), so I don’t need much polish, but that free 12 piece set with a month is super tempting. Can someone explain how Julep works? Do I get to choose the colors each month? Can I opt out of the makeup and just get polish? Would I be better off just going to CVS and buying a few colors I like?

LB’s response is pretty spot on! I’ve been subbing for almost a year, and I just re-upped for the 6-month deal.

They have a lot of makeup, tools, and skincare items too – so if you never want polish you can always swap something out. Boxes are about $20 a month if you do a 3 month sub. They are also cruelty-free which I really like, plus you get free shipping from their store and they offer deals pretty frequently.

They are doing an end of year sale right now if you want to try them out. They have a mystery bag of polish 10 for $20, which might be a good trial for you. 🙂

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate the replies! I went ahead and bought the mystery bag and four add on polishes for $21 something. I’m hoping I like some of what I get. I may still sign up for a membership because I do like February’s colors. I only liked half of the polishes in the 12 piece polish gift though.

I’m relatively new to the Julep sub too (only went through one month’s cycle so far) so I may not be the best one to answer your questions, but I wanted to help out in case no one else chimes in. And not all of this may be 100% correct but it’s best as I’ve seen at this point. 🙂 When you sign up, you create a mini profile and set your preferences in colors and whether you prefer nail polish only, make-up/skincare only or a mix of both. Then every month Julep creates a few “pre-populated” boxes and automatically assigns you one based on your preferences. HOWEVER for a few days you can log in and change the setting to a different box, customize your own (swap out some items for other options they have available) or completely skip that month with no penalty. I think the boxes are based on new items they are just releasing (giving subscribers first dibs)…so new colors or make-up/skincare products…but, as I said, you can swap items out for older ones that are still available too and in essence make your own box instead. Also, you have the option to do “add-ons” of other items at discounted prices too. It actually is very customizable and I love the option to just skip if you aren’t “feeling it” that month or just don’t want to deal with it. Plus, as a member you get Maven prices on items in the regular shop every day as long as you are logged in while shopping ($14 polishes are $11.20 for example). It seems odd that I even signed up since I’m not even a nail polish fan but so far I’m really enjoying trying out Julep’s skincare and make-up options and this seemed like a good way to do it!

I’m actually kind of glad that I am not really diggin’ any of the items/colors this go round because now I can officially skip and save some money. (for other subs *ahem*) Phew!

Joanna

🙁 This may be my first skip. The colors are blah.
I do love that lip balm crayon though. Highly recommend if you don’t already have one.

Same here. I skipped January too. Maybe it’s just me having so many polishes by now but their selections have been kinda blah lately, or similar to previous colors, but like you I do like the lip crayons so may grab a couple of those when I customize my box. Then again, I don’t REALLY need more lip colors either *sigh*. Was really hoping for some more of the new Holo shades like Eliza, Ebony and Alysha. They are gorgeous! Oh well, money saved and fingers crossed for March.

I tried a few of the crayons from pre-Christmas sales and although I like the feel and colors, they don’t seem to have good staying power on me (but I do have that problem ALOT). 🙁

Ragan

I’m not so into these colors. Will probably go with the purple one and the really dark brown/red and blue.

Some months I’m like “gotta get the whole set” but this really isn’t one of them. I have SO MANY SILVER polishes. And I don’t like most pastels.

I guess every month can’t be a win.

Now I need to start painting my nails again (took a polish break to let some of the damage grow out).

I don’t know if it’s that I just have so many (100+) or what, but I’m really beginning to get bored of Julep’s polishes. 🙁 I feel like I keep seeing the same colors over and over again. In fact, I’m pretty sure I could find a Julep dupe in my collection for each of these colors.

It’s unfortunate because I do love their polishes and I love my subscription with them, but I’m just not excited about this collection. Charissa is the only one speaking to me, but I won’t take a box for just one color (and I’m not interested in the lip crayon).

I was really hoping for February there would be some fun holographic reds and pinks – or fun top coats, but this is definitely not that! Looks like another month I’ll be skipping.

Steffy

Where are you seeing the shade names like Charissa? I can’t find them anywhere.

Amber P

They were originally posted in this post, but you should be able to here (http://www.julep.com/february-2017-collection) and it will give you all the polish names!

Brittnay

Eh. I might end up skipping this one, nothing really thrills me.
