Bumby Box is a quarterly children’s toy subscription box that focuses on curating boxes to reflect and promote your baby’s new interests and developmental milestones. They also only feature items from environmentally friendly companies!

They offer boxes for ages newborn to 5 years old. You get to select your child’s age group and customize your profile according to your child’s information at sign-up.

I love how they put this on their site:

We care about connecting families and believe that play should transcend all boundaries.

I read somewhere that babies’ and children’s job/”work” is to play! It’s everything to them at this stage.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Toddler, $49.99 monthly box (no longer a subscription option.) Now, they offer only a quarterly option.

Bumby-Box-January-2017-info1

Every box includes a flooded info card that clarifies which box you got and lists activity ideas for playing with the included items.

Bumby-Box-January-2017-info2

The info card includes some very thorough information about nurturing children’s imagination through play and building a treasure box for your kids and movement activities. I love how many ideas and how much effort they put into this part.

Bumby-Box-January-2017-info3

My last Bumby Box had a list and description of all the toys featured, but this month they included information about their priorities regarding support of the community and environment.

Squeak Rumble Whomp! Whomp! Whomp! – Value $12.84 on Amazon (retail price$15.99)

This is a really cute book! It points out the sounds and music all around us every day.

Bumby-Box-January-2017-items2

The onomatopoeias are written out in a way that reflects the sounds themselves, which I like and I think adds an extra layer of fun and visual interest.

Bumby-Box-January-2017-items3

My son is only 16 months so for now he mostly likes seeing the pictures and hearing me make silly noises but I can tell this will be a book that will also be fun as he gets older, too.

Green Toys Red Airplane – Value $14.99

Green toys are made in the USA from 100% recycled plastic milk jugs! There’s no BPA or PVC and even meets FDA food contact standards. Bonus: It’s dishwasher safe from my toddler’s jam hands. The design is nice and it is lightweight – my son instantly took an interest to this once I pulled it out of the box.

Child’s Cup Full Superhero Accessories - $24?

I don’t see this specific toy set for sale, so I estimated the value based off of similar items on their site. I think this is a fantastic toy for children! Now it’ll be so easy to switch into Superhero Mode with a crown and cuffs! My son is too young for these right now but my husband and I are big into comic books and Marvel/DC movies that I know we will probably have plenty of superhero imaginative play before too long.

Also, Child’ Cup Full is a non-profit that trains and employs women in refugee and low-income communities in the West Bank. They make handcrafted toys for children to support their organization!

Hape Jungle Journey Train – Value $14.99

These wooden train pieces connect with magnets and can carry the little animals around! These are cute – I was just thinking how Gideon doesn’t have any train toys and have been considering getting him a train table. He also loves animals and likes making the noises for the tiger, lion, and elephant as he plays. I also like that I can add these together with other magnet train sets like this.

Bear Paw Creek Ribbon Wrist Streamers – Value $9

These wrist streamers are movement props to help engage and interest kids in motion and movement play! The scrunchies are very stretchy and would work on a lot of different sized wrists. Bumby Box recommended I trim the ribbons to an appropriate length for my son for safer play. These aren’t something I ever thought about before, so it’s cool to have Bumby Box introduce me to “movement props!”

Child’s Cup Full Handmade Matching Memory Game – Value $12.50?

The last item here is another handmade item from Child’s Cup Full.

Bumby-Box-January-2017-items9

It’s a gorgeous matching set! This “sample set” has 8 tiles, and the full sets on their website have 16, so I used that for the value since this nature-themed set isn’t on their website. I love the designs and that they’re three-dimensional and very interesting to touch and hold for kids.

Bumby-Box-January-2017-items10

Here’s a closer look at the work on these. The reverse side is a deep orange fabric that matches the thread on the front here. I think these are great.

Verdict: My January 2017 Bumby Box Toddler Toy Box was a lot of fun to unpack! I honestly really like all of the items and am happy with the brands and manufacturers featured. It’s great that they are supporting and featuring a non-profit and also promote great educational and development toys, too. Another thing I appreciate is how much information and how many ideas they provide parents with to help foster development and imaginative play in their children. The value adds up to $88.32, which I’m happy with for a $50 box! Especially because there are some beautiful handmade toys I don’t think I would have found on my own.

The price is so high…

I agree. $50 or $100 doesn’t seem worth it. Between toy clearance and Pinterest diy I feel like you could do better yourself. I do like all the types of business they are supporting.

I’m confused, at the top of the review you have $99.99/ quarter box, but at the end you said its $50. Are there different versions?

I went back and read it. This is the $50 toddler box that is no longer available. Now they have the $100 quarterly box.

So sorry about that! This was the last review of their monthly box, they now only do quarterly boxes which are $99. Hope that helps clarify. I’ve updated the review to better explain as well. Thanks!

Wasn’t it a $100 box?
