The founders of LitJoy are passionate about books and literacy. Plus, for every box purchased, they donate a book to people who have none, or to help stock libraries!
This month’s theme is “March To The Beat,” and the box is all about music!
The card also lists information and pictures of each item.
The first item I pulled out of the box was a coupon card for Storiarts.com for 30% off. I love their products – they’re all literature and text prints and look like book pages. They sell items like baby blankets, gloves, scarves, t-shirts and more. So cool!
Echo Microphone – value: $2.50
As soon as I saw this I knew my son was going to love it! Bonus: no batteries required! I had one of these when I was a kid and loved it, too.
I was right – my son carried this around for like an hour after I handed it to him. Here he is in action:
Skip Hop Egg Shaker – value: $2.50
This shaker toy is sold in a set of three different animals, so my guess is that these will vary across boxes in the case that LitJoy bought the little trios and put one in each box. Either way, I love this little hedgehog. The colors are great and the bumpy back makes it super easy to grip for my toddler.
Exclusive Children’s Classics Book Spine Bookmark from Sweet Sequels – value: $2?
This is the parent’s gift this month. It’s a bookmark that features book spines of many different classic books. I like the art on this for sure. Also, this shop has super cute book cover ornaments!
Copper Robin Aztec Print Socks – value: $8.95
These socks are fantastic! Aside from them being adorable, they actually stay up on my son’s legs.
I love the longer length on these, especially for Fall/Winter.
Guitar Bibdana – value: $8?
FYI – I got my value based on what seems to be the average price listed on Etsy for handmade bibdanas. This is adorable! So cute and stylish but functional. My brother in law plays guitar and I think I’m going to gift this for his baby to wear.
I Love Music: My First Soundbook by Marion Billet – value: $8.19 on Amazon (retail price $9.99)
I love this book! LitJoy says that it’s a sound book that won’t drive parents crazy, and they’re right! Each page (6 total) has a little button to push that plays music specific to the type of instrument that’s shown.
The clips of music are really pretty and a good volume so they’re not annoying at all. And my favorite part is that the buttons aren’t hard to push – you barely have to press. That makes it super easy for my toddler to use this book by himself.
Music Is… by Brandon Stosuy - value: $8.99
This book has a very interesting art style and describes music through eyes, ears, and emotion.
It’s a really cute book! I like the art a lot, and I think it’s really helpful for connecting emotion and mood and style to music for kids. I can see reading this book and then playing some happy, sad, slow, fast, loud, quiet, etc. songs and learning about each one. (that part will come when my kid is a little older, though – that’s okay because it means this book will be relevant for a while!)
Verdict: I really loved unboxing this November LitJoy Crate. My first major was actually voice performance so I have a special love for making sure my kid also loves music. Between this box and my October Bumby Box we’ve been playing with so many musical and rhythmic toys lately. As far as value goes, I got $41.13 in value from this box, which I’m happy with!
