Cairn is a subscription service that delivers outdoor gear every month. They bill their service as "Your Monthly Box of Outdoor Discovery." My family loves to get outdoors as much as possible, and we love discovering new gear!

cairn-december-2016-card

When I signed up for Cairn, they asked me to do a huge questionnaire for customization purposes. It asked questions about the types of outdoor activities I like, and I chose hiking, camping (car), backpacking, and yoga. They had loads of options, though, like rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing -- just about everything I could think of! They also asked a few lifestyle questions (kids? dogs?) plus basics like t-shirt size.

All this leads me to believe that contents may vary from subscriber to subscriber, so if you subscribe but get different things, please let me know!

SegSac 20L by Gobi Gear - Value $23.99

First of all, this sack weighs absolutely nothing at all. This is exactly the kind of thing you want when backpacking. It also has all these cool compartments for keeping your gear separate, which can be very useful out on the trail. I hope it can keep smells separate, too - that would be amazing!

Zipper Repair Kit by Fix N Zip - Value $9.99

I can always count on Cairn to send something really innovative, and this zipper repair kit totally fits the bill this month! I don't actually have a broken zipper at the moment, but I can just imagine how incredibly handy this will be when we are out hiking during the winter months. The kids love to break their coat zippers!

GoBites Duo by Human Gear - Value $7.49

Another thing my kids love to do is to lose all the pieces of their mess kits, so I am always happy to get more utensils! These are pretty handy and seem very durable, too.

KarmaKandy by Play Hard Give Back - Value $3

I love trail mix, and this is a delicious blend! I also love it for my kids; it's just so wholesome. The best thing about this particular trail mix (to me) is that the proceeds support volunteer programs such as Hope Sports! Cool!

cairn-december-2016-coupons

We used to get an envelope from Cairn with lots of coupons in it, but Cairn recently switched to a card with all the promo codes printed on it. That's so much more handy and eco-friendly!

Verdict: We love our Cairn subscription! They seem to always send a wide variety of new things, and like I said, they tend to be pretty innovative. I can't wait to be prepared for the next zipper emergency! This month's value adds up to $44.47, which is great for a $25 box. Cairn's values are consistently good!

I want to resubscribe to Cairn but it’s always like I get one item that I’m excited about and the rest is kind of ehh. Out of six months, every food item I got had nuts in it (I’m allergic) and then I got eating utensils in three boxes. Idk if maybe I should just do the Obsidian boxes or not, might make more sense for me.
