Bulu Box seems to have stopped providing information cards listing the items in the box. Instead, you get a generic card. Also, there was coupons/product literature.
Neocell Beauty Infusion Refreshing Collagen Drink Mix (0.39 oz) – Value $1.10
I have read that ingesting collagen is good for your skin, but collagen is exclusively animal protein (you probably don’t want to know how it’s extracted…) so I was unable to try this.
Flyjoy Ancient Grain Energy Bar in Blueberry Almond (1.5 oz) – Value $1.56
Usually, I like these, but this one was kind of hard. Also, it didn’t taste much like blueberries or almonds. I think some of the other flavors are better.
Energems Chocolate Energy in Berry Flavored Dark Chocolate (3 count) – Value $1
Energems Chocolate Energy in Dark Chocolate (3 count) – Value $1
Energems Chocolate Energy in Mint Dark Chocolate (3 count) – Value $1
These are little chocolate candies that have B vitamins and caffeine for a boost of energy. These have pharmaceutical glaze in them and I have decided that I don’t want to consume that any longer because a bunch of insect parts end up in it while processing (the purified product is free of insect parts, but I’m still grossed out) so I gave them to my husband. He said they were all right but didn’t notice a big difference. (In fairness, he’d just had his morning coffee.)
Frownies pH Balancing Complexion Wash (0.25 oz?) – Value $0.87?
This was good for two uses or so, used sparingly. I do appreciate that it was not in a foil packet. I think Bulu Box must have some kind of deal going on with Frownies because we got another Frownies product last month. Anyway, this was a decent enough face wash but I feel like I need to use a skincare product for a few weeks to learn anything other than that it doesn’t give me a rash! (This bottle didn’t have a size on it, so I’m estimating.)
Thayers Dry and Itchy Skin Relief with Apple Cider Vinegar (0.25 fl oz) – Value $0.25
We’ve recently had a warm, rainy few weeks in Georgia (minus a day or two), so my skin is not dry and itchy right now. However, I’m saving this for when it gets cold again because my skin does horribly in cold, dry weather.
Natural Calm Plus Calcium (original, 0.15 oz) – Value $0.28
Natural Calm Plus Calcium (raspberry lemon, 0.15 oz) – Value $0.28
I’m a fan of the original Natural Calm, which is a magnesium supplement. Magnesium is good for decreasing blood pressure, promoting sleep, and promoting general calmness. However, consume too much magnesium and it can cause problems for the calcium balance in your body, so I’m happy to see the calcium added here. The raspberry lemon flavor is fine to drink in water on its own with nothing added.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $7.34 for the December Bulu Box. I only paid $5 for the box, thanks to the previous “$5 for life” coupon code (current offer is $5.99 a box for life with code MYSUB599). Plus I can review the items for points that I can use towards items like Quest Bars or PB2 I would buy anyway, so I did get my money’s worth, and this is an improvement over last month in terms of value, as well. Some of the items weren’t vegetarian but that is a risk you take with this subscription. I’m particularly happy to have discovered that Natural Calm now comes with calcium in it!
