Box of Happies is a monthly subscription box for handmade goods. It’s a great way to discover new Etsy artisans.

Included was an information card listing the items in the box. Also, there was a business card for Box of Happies.

Rustic Bud Vase from Lynette’s Art – Listed Value $5

I saw the piece of wood in the box and at first, I was confused, but tucked in the bottom, inside a bubble mailer, was this test tube that fit neatly in a hole in the wood. How cute! It is the wrong time of year for flowers around here so I can’t show this to you in action, but I really like it.

The Lynette’s Art shop has some really cute items in it. I’ve used the value from the information card because I’m not 100% sure how the size of this item compares to similar items in their shop.

Coffee Cozy from Sew Love to Sew – Value $6

I buy hot drinks like never but one of the nice things about Box of Happies is that the items are all definitely giftable. I can see this as part of a nice set for a Secret Santa or White Elephant gift. And this owl cozy from the Sew Love to Sew shop is adorable.

Box of Happies Wishbone Earrings – Listed Value $10

This is a jewelry-heavy subscription, no two ways about it. You will get both silver-tone and gold-tone pieces. Luckily for me, I wear both colors and most of the pieces (like these) are fairly dainty, so this is a good fit for me. (I do coat the earring hooks in clear nail polish before wearing, since I am super metal sensitive.) I like that we got a matching set this time!

Box of Happies Crystal Pen – Listed Value $8

Every now and then there’s a pen in this box. This is welcome. We have two or three mugs of pens in the kitchen and I swear, only one of the pens actually works, so we do need more. My husband won’t use novelty pens like this but *I* like them, plus it happens to be very useful for me, so it’s all good!

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $39 for the November 2016 Box of Happies. Of course I had to take most of the values for the information card, but I liked the items this month either for myself or for gifting, I learned about some new Etsy sellers (Etsy can be overwhelming) and I feel like the value is at least as much as the cost of the box, if not more (don’t forget you’d have to pay shipping at all the Etsy shops).

I never knew you could coat earring hooks with nail polish and that would stop any irritation! Thanks so much for the tip. I have really sensitive ears and can only wear sterling or gold hooks. I always have to switch the hooks with silver ones.

I can only wear titanium but the nail polish trick works, at least for a few hours.

You have to redo the nail polish periodically, it won’t last forever.
