Birchbox was one of the very first beauty subscription boxes—we’ve been reviewing it since 2012! Each month, subscribers get a new mix of 5 beauty samples, such as makeup, skincare, haircare, and fragrance items. Birchbox lets you choose whether you’d like a box of items picked just for you (incl... read more.

I just cancelled both BB and Ipsy….both would send repeated items/products/brands, damaged samples, tiny samples…..(4 blending brushes out of 8 bags Ipsy, C’mon!) just not worth $20 (for both) to be frustrated with what they sent.
Cancelling the points system and not replacing it with some other ‘reward’ based system was the biggest mistake BB could have made. Ipsy, every time I go to cash in points, everything is out of stock…I don’t have time to stalk the page for new point rewards arrivals.
I don’t believe for a second our ‘profiles’ are considered when these boxes go out. They both send blush colors I would not wear, bronzers galore, mascara or eyeliner each month. I have my profile filled out and marked with what I do and do not want….I always seem to have received stuff I do NOT want! Makes no sense.
So now I’m on the Sephora Play waitlist….hopefully that opens up soon!

I had ordered the curated box on all my accounts. When I went back into my accounts, they had changed my boxes, I am now only getting one of the curated boxes. I got one of my boxes today, they are all products, I think I will be able to use. They did send me a mirror for my purse, which I needed because I didn’t have one.

I like this curated box. I think I would pick this one, I just hope they don’t change it on me again.

I. Am. So. Done. With. Birchbox.
I AM DONE!!!!
I just want to say I’ve been a first time subscriber for ONLY three months now. Let that sink in for a second, three boxes. Most of the items in this box are repeats. Repeats after being a fresh new customer. I was impressed with my first box, like it hit the spot. I found new loves I would have never tried before. Silly me I thought that this would be the pattern. I also thought the December box would be amazing because its Christmas…. Duh. Silly me.
This would be THIRD Klorane dry shampoo. It just so happens to be a dislike and a cruddy regift. That alone would make me hit the cancel button. (I’m cancelling immediately after this comment!) But two other products here I have already had.
How is this possible??? Like, are they just giving me left overs from old boxes? That’s what I feel like is happening to me and maybe they just don’t check who gets what and when! I think this beauty box was an awesome deal for trying new things. But now I am just paying for samples and travel sizes that I’ve already had. On top of that, the value scale is very low for the products that aren’t repeats.
Birchbox is making hella money off of me right now and I’m DONE! I’m sure this doesnt happen to most people I guess I am unlucky but I can go on just thinking “next month will be better!”. This is a freaking Slot Machine if I’ve ever seen one! I’m gonna put my money into a better beauty box and that’s not saying much because pretty much any beauty box is better than this. Top of my list is Boxycharm. I already have Sephora Play!, Allure Beauty Box and Beauty Box 5. Anymore suggestions?

Take a look at ipsy and what the bag varieties are like. They now have more customized settings and finally allow you to opt out of certain items you won’t use. (Dry shampoo here too!)
I am letting my birchbox sub run out. I cancelled Beauty Box 5 recently, and I LOVE ipsy. I get a lot of make up and full sized products. I generally LOVE some things in my bag and like at least 4/5. Bonus that I adore the tiny makeup bags they send the products in, and I use them to store EVERYTHING and organize my larger bags, drawers, kids toys etc, gift them to others too. Have fun! It should feel like a gift every month!

I thought it was just my boxes. That liquid eyeliner is busted and I have gotten it 4 times in the past year and a half!! I’ve really been thinking about unsubscribing. It really getting bad. Hardly any product to test and samples
that do not fit my profile at all!!! They need to revamp ASAP!!!

I just canceled. The last few boxes have underwhelmed me. I keep getting perfume and I’ll never use it. I don’t use eyeliner, but at least my daughter will like it. The samples have gotten smaller and just not worth the $10. Now to figure out what one to try. I did Ipsy and moved on from them. Maybe retry?

I was with Ipsy for the last year and a half and just ended my subscription because of this same reason. All the samples were tiny and useless. I think Ipsy is getting worse, in my opinion I would not retry.

Play by Sephora is better than both Birchbox and Ipsy. I get all three but Sephora sends better and bigger samples.

I agree. Love my Sephora Play sub! Higher end stuff too.

I’m always down for some eye pads. Everything else I either already have from other boxes or don’t use at all.

The only thing I like is the chella and it probably won’t be the correct shade. I’ve gotten 2 Eyeko liquid eyeliners in the past 4 months from birchbox and I’ve gotten more from other subs. I’m not feeling January at all. Might be time to cancel.

I got the chella gel this month. Its a clear gel.

I just got my December box today. It’s my last box and I’m not renewing. I have been subbing to Birchbox from almost the beginning, like 5 years. I have seen huge changes in the boxes over the years. The product sizes are so small now. I remember looking forward to receiving this box every month, not anymore. There are so many sub boxes now, it’s time to move on.

I just cancelled as well one more box. I subscribed for two years.

Here’s what disappoints me… it’s not that these products featured in the box are bad. It’s that I’ve received those same items in my boxes several times throughout one year I’ve been subscribed.
I’m tired of the Eyeko eye liner (which is not even good, fyi), of a mountain of dry shampoo they send me, plus all the unwearable mascara. I want to have something new to try out and then possibly by a full size. I thought that was the whole point.
My subscription just expired and I’m not renewing it. Without the points system, they needed to step up their sample game which, for me at least, they haven’t done.

Please stop with this Eyeko liquid black eyeliner. I have 2 or 3 of them already from other boxes/bags. I hate liquid eyeliner. I had cancelled Birchbox back in 2015 when they stopped with the 2 full size makeup and nail products for an extra $20 a month. I recently resubbed because it’s only 10 bucks, and while most of what they send does not excite or impress me, every once in a while they send me something that becomes a favorite! For 10 bucks, I’ll take the risk.

I did cancel but I’m getting Decembers still. I believe I’ll resubscribe just because I want the box with the design.

Can someone please tell me how to cancel? I can’t find anything on the app nor on the website.

Log in, hover over your name, and click on “Account Settings.” There’s a “cancel” option under “Subscriptions.” It’s right above the shipping info.

Love this box. Finally feeling vindicated after resubbing; I was on the fence but I am glad I held on for another year.

I cancelled before December and only plan to resubscribe if I see a good curated box or sub offer but neither of these will do it for me. I would actually use most of it but just seeing a black eyeliner included turns me off. If they get a better joining deal then maybe.

Birchbox is going downhill fast or should I say has been going down hill for how many months now? Doesn’t it seem like they keep rotating the same samples through every few months? Tired of consistently being disappointed. I hate, hate liquid eyeliner and can’t even count how many I’ve received that go right in the trash can. And I think I have enough dry shampoo to start supplying my neighborhood. Think of other NEW, impressive and beneficial samples to send out. I’m done wasting my money on this junk.

I guess I’m in the minority that likes this one! All stuff that goes into my daily usage rotation or stocking stuffer fuel. I love getting a steady supply of practical (for me) items at a discount.

Yes it’s only $10.00 what do you expect. Stop being so ungrateful! Be happy or unsubscibe.

I’m glad I canceled my subscription. I’ve only been getting beauty boxes for about 6-8 months now, but I have so many repeats that I just cannot keep getting the same stuff with Birchbox over and over. I was ready to cancel Ipsy too, but my variety got a little bit better, so I’m hanging on there for a while.

I love this box! I haven’t ordered a curated box in some time but I am really excited for this one. I have been looking to narrow down my subscription boxes (at an all time high of 12!), but Birchbox will be making the cut.

I’m thinking its time to cancel, I’ll hold out to see the sample choice before I decide. And how many liquid eyeliners are they going to send out? Between Birchbox and Ipsy, I’m drowning in liquid liner that I don’t even use.

I was waiting to see what Jan had to offer…I’m done. I have enough dry shampoos to last a lifetime. Doesn’t anyone wash their hair anymore??? I hate that stuff. I’ve seen those other products at least 3 times. Too many brow products and liquid liners.
