This Book Just Ate My Dog! by Richard Byrne - Value $9.04 on Amazon (retail price $16.99)

My children just about died with laughter when I read this to them. I was barraged with “more, more” when it was finished and we promptly read it two more times. The center crease in the book seems to be gobbling up Bella’s dog, friend and more. Luckily a note appears and the reader can save the day. Short but packed with humor this was a delightful read.

A Celebration of the Seasons: Goodnight Songs by Margaret Wise Brown - Value $11.31 on Amazon (retail price $17.95)

This previously unpublished collection of Margaret Wise Brown songs and poems is illustrated by twelve different award-winning illustrators. The book also includes a 12-song CD which is a lovely addition. The songs are tributes to nature, wildlife and the changing of the seasons. Enjoying the vastly different style of the 12 illustrators was a visual feast.

Fletcher’s Big Show by Julia Rawlinson - retail price $16.99 (no longer in print)

My students love the Fletcher series and this is the one I don’t own in my school library. I’m so happy to have a copy! Fletcher’s friend Rabbit is sad that the other forest animals can make sounds and she can’t. Fletcher sets out to put on a show where Rabbit can entertain with her talents. Just like all the Fletcher books this one has gorgeous, soft illustrations.

Yeti and the Bird by Nadia Shireen - Value $16.36 on Amazon (retail price $17.99)

Yeti is a big scary monster and frightens all the animals away. He’s sad and lonely until a lost bird appears and isn’t afraid of Yeti in the least. As they become friends and start playing in the forest the animals begin to see a new side of Yeti they’ve never seen before. This is a tale of friendship and about wrongfully judging others.

Verdict: Lillypost is amazing! The value is well over the cost of the box and all the books came individually wrapped which makes it ideal for gift giving. We especially loved This Book Just Ate My Dog! and the Fletcher book this month. I review a ton of children’s book subscription boxes and for the price (plus free shipping) I think this box offers the most bang for your buck as well as a charming box, wrap, and stickers. I’m impressed with their curation and highly recommend this subscription.
