yogi-surprise-october-2016-theme

This month's theme is "Harvest Celebration." Autumn is my favorite time of year! It's all about slowing down, reflecting, and being good to yourself.

yogi-surprise-october-2016-giveaway

Yogi Surprise has partnered with Trip Tribe to give one lucky subscriber every month a free yoga retreat! This card shows last month's winner. There' also a coupon code for $150 off any Trip Tribe retreat.

yogi-surprise-october-2016-booklet

This is the info card that was included, detailing the items in this month's package.

yogi-surprise-october-2016-sequence

Yogi Surprise also includes a sequence card every month that suggests a yoga sequence to go along with the month and the theme. I actually love this feature of Yogi Surprise! And of course, Savasana (corpse pose) is my favorite, haha!

yogi-surprise-october-2016-oil

Banyan Botanicals Daily Massage Oil - Value $12.95

I like the idea of daily massages! This oil is tridoshic, so it's good for all types, even those of us who have complex constitutions. It also has a nice warm aroma.

yogi-surprise-october-2016-coupon

This handy guide to self-massage was also included, with a coupon for 20% off Banyan Botanicals on the reverse side. Score!

yogi-surprise-october-2016-strap

yogi-surprise-october-2016-strap-2

Natural Fitness Hemp Yoga Strap - Value $17.38

I love when yoga subscription boxes include items that are directly for use in yoga! This is a nice strap, and with my odd proportions, I use straps all the time.

yogi-surprise-october-2016-candle

yogi-surprise-october-2016-candle-2

Rare Earth Naturals Meditation Travel Tin Spa Candle - Value $12

I love almost all candles, but this one smells incredible. It has a really deep, woodsy smell that's perfect for the season. I love it!

Restorative Yoga by Ulrica Norberg - Value $13.22 on Amazon (retail price $14.99)

I can't tell you how excited I am to receive this book! I absolutely love restorative yoga, and I can't wait to learn more about it. I just had a two-hour restorative yoga workshop with a sonic bath (awesome sound art performance), and it was incredible. From Amazon:

"Restorative yoga is a gentle but powerful practice that is desperately needed in todayís crazy-busy culture. It is rapidly gaining in popularity around the world because of its ability to relieve stress, heal the body, and promote overall well-being. Here world-renowned yoga instructor Ulrica Norberg shows the simple poses that will help you release anxiety, promote digestion, relieve headaches, recover from injuries, and more.

Bolster pillows, yoga blocks, and blankets are an important part of restorative yoga. Norberg shows how to get the most out of your practice by utilizing these simple, easy-to-find props. Yogis will discover the power of letting go in both body and mind, opening themselves to greater possibilities in their yoga practices and in life.

Accompanied by gorgeous full-color images that are as inspiring as they are useful, this book will change your yoga practice forever."

yogi-surprise-october-2016-serum

Kensington Apothecary Skin Serum #5 Antioxidant Boost - Value $36

Primarily because of the relatively high cost, I was excited to try this serum last night! So far, so good, but of course it takes a while to tell how my skin will respond to a skin care product like this. It smelled good, though, and left my skin feeling soft.

yogi-surprise-october-2016-truffles

Living Raw Organic Coconut Karma Truffles - Value $6.25

One thing I should never do is photograph boxes when I'm starving. I scarfed these things down without even reading the label, and they were super sweet and decadent! Fortunately, they are relatively low in sugar, plus they are organic, non-GMO, and have lots of other good things going on.

yogi-surprise-october-2016-wipe

Eat Cleaner Wipe Sample (Bonus Item)

I buy organic almost exclusively, so I don't have much need for wipes, but I still rinse and clean everything, so I can see how these would be great to take on-the-go. I wiped down an apple with this and tried it, and I didn't notice any strange flavor.

yogi-surprise-october-2016-coupon-2

This coupon was included for 50% off your first order at eatCleaner plus a free Clean Eating Handbook.

Spoiler Alert!

yogi-surprise-october-2016-spoiler

For the first time in a while, I am well and truly stoked about the spoiler item for next month. Mala earbuds! I've never heard of anything like them! I love the idea of combining two of my favorite things - yoga and jams! It also seems like it could be great for listening to guided meditation or meditation music.

The Verdict: This was another awesome box from Yogi Surprise! I am super excited about the book, and the truffles tasted amazing. The value this month totals around $98, which is incredible for a $45 box. I'm a big fan of Yogi Surprise!

This box is so tempting, but over my budget. Thanks for the great review! How did you get into restorative yoga? Any suggestions for resources (other than the book in this review which looks good) to learn more/get started with restorative yoga?

The free down dog app has a restorative yoga setting if you want to try it out without apending any money. I love it, especially when I’m sore from other a activities or when my wrists are acting up. (Carpal tunnel)

Sorry for all the typos there, I just got nextgen nails put on and cannot type with them yet.

If you go to Amazon and put in restorative or gentle yoga you will find some DVDs for it. I find it the most relaxing yoga to do and great for people over 50.

This was my first box and I was thrilled! I love everything!

If you can find the Living Raw truffles with the purple stripe on the package, those are the best ones I’ve ever had. Luckily my Whole Foods doesn’t carry them, or I’d be in trouble.

Even organic fruits and vegetables need cleaning. They are handled by others during the whole process of shipping, unloading, etc. You don’t want to actually eat some things just because they are organic. There are organic fertilizers, pest control, etc so you really do need to clean raw vegetables and fruits. I know you you said you *still* wash everything but I thought I would mention this.

This does not appear to be a review of the Jewelry box, as the title says. This looks like the regular Yogi Surprise box.
