Wet n Wild ProLine® Graphic Marker Eyeliner – Black - FULL SIZE! Value $4

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0012

This liquid eyeliner has an angled felt tip so you can get a fine or fuller line:

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0013

It goes on smoothly and stayed put until I used makeup remover. (Swatched in lower photo.)

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0014

Laneige BB Cushion – Value $6.80 (Or $2.27 if you only count the shade that works for you).

This sample includes three different shades:

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0017

Light, Medium, and Medium Dark. I appreciate that they send out a sample that works for more than one skin tone! It still only covers three shades, though.

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0015

This formula provides a good amount of coverage while still looking like you aren’t wearing makeup – I love that aspect of it. My only gripe is that the formula has a perfumed scent, but that fades pretty quickly.

Here are the three shades swatched below the eyeliner swatches:

ChapStick® Total Hydration 3 in 1 Tinted Lip Balm - Value $5

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0019

The Chapstick Total Hydration Lip Balm has been one of my favorite subscription box discoveries this year! It's super hydrating, all natural, and I'm always happy to find a drugstore item I love!

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0020

This is my first time trying the tinted version, and no surprise - I'm a fan! It gives you a hint of color, and pretty much the same moisturization as the original lip balm.

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0009

Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer – Coconut Oil - 2 oz Value $1.20

This moisturizer is designed to be applied immediately post-shower before drying off. It's an interesting concept, but I would have preferred it if the formula was paraben-free, and I was so-so on the scent.

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0006

EDEN BodyWorks Peppermint Tea Tree Shampoo - 2 oz Value $2

EDEN BodyWorks Peppermint Tea Tree Conditioner - 2 oz Value $2

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0008

This shampoo formula is SO minty - I love it! And both the shampoo and conditioner are sulfate and paraben free!

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0007

This conditioner is slightly less minty, but still smells really refreshing - this set is one of my favorite items in the box!

target-beauty-box-october-2016-0010

Derma E Hydrating Day Crème with Hyaluronic Acid - .5 oz Value $5

I like Derma E because they make fair-priced skincare items that are 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten-free, GMO-free. They work well for me, too. This day creme absorbed easily into my skin and was gentle, too. I just wish it wasn't so strongly scented!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $26. I think that's a great value for a $7 beauty box. This wasn't my favorite Target Beauty Box, but it's still impressive, and the lip balm and shampoo + conditioner set alone make it worth it for me.

How do you know when there is a new beauty box? I looked tonight and it’s sold out. when are the boxes available? If I signed up for emails from target will they alert me about the beauty box? does anyone know?

Target may (or may not) send an email if you’ve ordered a beauty box from them before, but for my money, your best bet is to sign up for one of MSA’s email alerts.

Even if Target does send out an announcement that a box is available, MSA’s alerts almost ALWAYS arrive first.

Also, as a general rule, these boxes appear to go on sale the first Monday of the month. (May be some variation on this, so I’d sign up for an alert if you haven’t already.) I think they usually sell out by noon (EST). You’ll want to check early!

If there is a problem with your Target beauty box, it’s worth contacting customer service. I’ve been buying every box for the past year and have rarely had an issue. However, I once got a credit back on my card for a missing item, and this time my box had no info card with the $3 coupon. I e-mailed Target customer service, and they sent me a $5 e-gift card. I figured they would credit my card $3, so the extra $2 is greatly appreciated, though they have to know that $5 will lead to more and more spending!

I love the box its my first one but the shampoo was leaking inside the box when I received it. Looking forward to the next one.

Nan

I had one that did that a couple months ago. I emailed them a pic and they sent me a new box.

When I bought this one, I was sort of on the fence, I didn’t feel it was a great box, but not a bad one either. But now that I’ve tried the items, I’m really glad it got it. The shampoo and conditioner smelled a bit strong out of the bottle, but in the shower, they were minty and refreshing and helped wake me up. I’m wearing the eyeliner and chapstick today. The eyeliner is great, and even though I don’t love the color of the chapstick, what’s not to like about chapstick?? The Derma E moisturizer felt nice and I liked the smell. The one thing that really surprised me was the Laniege foundation. I really really liked it and was surprised that even though it is supposedly a tinted BB cream, I found it gave nearly full coverage. And I liked that there were three shades. I gave the light one to my daughter, who’s paler than me, gave the darkest to my niece, and kept the middle one for myself. The only thing I didn’t use myself was the Jergens In-shower lotion, which I gave to my sister because she LOVES that stuff.

I liked this box. It was better than the walmart box. The chapstick tinted balm is great. I got it in shade coral blush which goes good with my skin tone.

That Jergens shower lotion must have been created for me. I have a broken leg that keeps swelling and then shedding all the skin. I have tried everything these past nine weeks. What finally worked? This sample. May not be for everyone but it is a lifesaver for me. And the thing is – I never would have bought it for myself. It’s finds like these that make me stick with the beauty box.

Ouch!!! So glad you found something that works for you……hope you feel better soon!!!

I passed on this month. Maybe next month will be better.

I just received the October box today, but wondered if anyone could help me about the coupon enclosed in each box?

September was my first purchase and I’d read on here, you could use it on the next box. Didn’t work in ordering it online, so then I tried to use it on items I was out of in the categories listed. That didn’t work either. I believe it said the code was not valid for the purchase. Can these coupons only be used for full size products of the items in that particular box?

Any help anyone could give me will be greatly appreciated.

Natalia

The box and anything to reach the $15. Although they charge u shipping on the cosmetics (beauty box ships free ) unless you have over $25 in the cart or target red card.

Reply ButtonReply

Natalia

It didn’t work for me either, so I contacted the CS via chat and they honored the coupon. You give them the cart # and coupon code and they will apply $3 off. It should be for any merchandise in that category.

Eyeliner didn’t last more than 2 hours for me, but most don’t. Loved all the other items in the box.

Rookala

This is a boring box. It wasn’t a hard choice to pass on it when it came out.

I am happy with my target box. It seems like a lot of ppl are disappointed this month but I was more so with my birchbox. My target box made up for the the variety and size of products compared to bb. Thinking I may cancel bb and stick with target, walmart, & allure

I signed up for your newsletter mid last month to get notified of when the October beauty box would be available! I’ve read every email and didn’t see you post about it till now but this is just a review it’s not telling me available. Did I miss the email that said the beauty box was available? Can you tell me which one it was in? I’ll go back and look. HELP

I wish target would step it up. I dropped one of my subscription boxes so I could grab a target box when I liked what they were offering but for a few months now they haven’t been making me want to buy a box. A lot of repeat products or things I don’t want to pay for like chapstick and those cushion foundation samples. ?

Reply ButtonReply

Sherry

Passed on this one but regretting it a bit! (I don’t like that Jergens lotion and don’t need another black eyeliner – but the other items would have been a great deal)

Reply ButtonReply

Emma

I got the shade Coral Blush in the chap stick, it’s an ok for a color on me. When I opened the box, the lotion was cracked open and leaking. oh well I guess…..this box was just ok for me. I’m already looking forward to next months box 😉

A couple months ago I had a shampoo bottle that leaked all over my target box. I contacted cs and sent them a photo. They sent me a new box which arrived 4 days later. They might do the same for you.

I nearly missed getting this box because of the checkout issues but I’m glad I was finally able to. I love this box! I use the Jergens daily so that was my favorite item. The chapstick is awesome and I love the shampoo/conditioner. I have the eyeliner on today and actually like it because it doesn’t budge (like other expensive ones do). Haven’t used the moisturizer yet but I have tried it before and liked it. All in all a great box this month!

I’m not gonna lie, I’m disappointed by how many products have aloe. I can use the shampoo, but not the conditioner. I can’t use the day cream either. Ugh. Oh well.

Reply ButtonReply

Annie S.

Thanks for the heads up on the products with aloe in them- I won’t be able to use them, either (I will pass then along). I spend many hours looking at ingredients in beauty products, trying to find the ones without aloe.

Reply ButtonReply

Lainey

Do you have an aloe allergy, too? My husband does and it’s maddening trying to find everyday products that don’t have aloe in them.

I’m glad you mentioned that the conditioner has aloe. I gave the shampoo and conditioner to him, because he liked the smell, and all of the ingredients were listed on the shampoo but not the conditioner. One of us was planning to look up the conditioner online, but you saved us a task – thank you!

Got a box for me and one for my daughter. We loved the tinted lip balm, so-so on the eyeliner. Love the face cream and the Jergens moisturizer – worked great after shower. I didn’t like the foundation at all. Way too much yellow undertones for my complexion, but a nice sized sample. Haven’t tried the shampoo/conditioner yet, but they smell great and will try them soon. This was my first time trying beauty box and hope to try more in the future.

Jane

the eyeliner I received was dried out, nothing I can do to make it work, In fact half of the tip is white.
I received the chapstick in Merlot, it is not a color I would normally choose, I love it!
I like the the BB makeup, I will probably purchase it in “light”

Luna

You may also want to try exchanging the product for a new one in the store. I read all the time about how people exchange products in their boxes for a product they prefer in the store (due to a color variant they don’t like). I think it would make sense that you could exchange a defective product in the store as well. It wouldn’t hurt to try!

Reply ButtonReply

Sue

Fyi, I exchanged an item in store for another color, and the cashier said it was a good idea to keep the email receipt of the box purchase.

MzBev

Contact Target about the defective eyeliner. They will probably give you a partial credit on the box for it – usually in a Target e-gift card, but it’s something!

The scent is my favorite part of the Derma E! The night cream also smells like that. So nice!

Reply ButtonReply

Stacey

I liked the box! The derma E moisturizer doesn’t feel greasy and it absorbs so quickly. I also loved the chapstick and shampoo/conditioner. I’m a little scared of the eyeliner because it seems like it will stay on forever and if I mess up putting it on, I will look like that forever! 🙂 Definitely worth $7 – glad I got it.

Susan

That Shampoo / conditioner set are my favorite too! I’ve been looking for a new set forever and I LOVE the way this made my scalp feel and the conditioner really moisturized my hair. I went to my local super Target last night to buy full sizes and they didn’t carry it 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

You might want to try Sally Beauty Supply. They have a pretty decent selection of Eden Bodyworks products. 🙂

Susan

Thanks!!

Amber

I got the Coral Blush Shade in the ChapStick, which is fine, because I like peachy shades, but I really like to load on lip balm, so this ended up a tad dark. I’ll have to remember to go easy on it in the future. Would have liked to see what your shade looked like swatched, in case I want to go snag that color too

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

I got Coral Blush as well. I am not big on lip balms, but I do appreciate tinted ones, especially on days when I’m not wearing full make-up but don’t want to look like a zombie.

Unfortunately my box was missing the info card with coupon, but I’m waiting on a response from Target Customer Service about that.
