kitnipbox-october-2016-card2

The information card included a list of items in the box. They included values and I have used a lot of these below because KitNipBox toys can be hard to find for sale online.

kitnipbox-october-2016-bat

Safemade Catnip Bat – Value $5

Safemade toys are hard to find online so I took the value from the information card. This is a cute toy and also seasonally appropriate. (Plus, it came in the beginning of the month, so we had it for Halloween.) The wings are felt but my crew hasn’t destroyed them yet.

kitnipbox-october-2016-food

Marquee Kicker – Value $5

No idea on a brand for this so again, I’ve taken the value from the information card. Sneaky rolled around with this quite a lot, and Madison liked it too, but I couldn’t get good pictures.

Wellness Trufood Flaked Salmon and Tuna in Broth (1.75 oz) – Value $1.17

I think Wellness is a good brand and although I’ve received some products from this product line before, I am pretty sure this is new to my guys and gal. Sneaky and Madison thought it was pretty awesome, anyway. (Monkey just wanted to lick the broth.)

Mouse in Ball Chase Toy – Value $4

This worked best on the hardwood floors in the dining room, where it got batted around quite a bit. I’m not clear on whether the cats are supposed to be able to get the toy out (mine couldn’t). But they seemed to have fun with it.

kitnipbox-october-2016-ghost

Eeks! Flower/Chic Mouse from Fat Cat – Value $5

Monkey loves the texture of toys from this manufacturer. Something about that canvas he just wants to lick. Sneaky liked this one too. So I’m always happy to see these. (I can only find these for sale in Europe so I took the value from the information card. This brand is available in the US, but I guess this item isn’t.)

LEAP Pet Products Spooky Dancer Catnip Dangler – Value $5

This was the winner of the box for Sneaky. She thought this was great and she bit it and clawed it and rolled all over (see below). She didn’t manage to tear it apart, either!

kitnipbox-october-2016-treats

Simply Nourish Freeze Dried Treats in Turkey (0.49 oz) – Value $4

Monkey and Sneaky and Madison all liked these. It’s funny, they never used to eat freeze dried meat, but now they think it’s great. I don’t know what changed with them, but I do like that this only has one ingredient. I know I have seen this brand in stores before but the only commercial results I am getting for this flavor are in Canada so I took the value from the information card.

Safemade Popcorn – Value $5

This is a little larger and is very soft and lightweight so cats can actually snag it with claws and toss it.  Plus it goes very well with this month’s movie theme!  I keep thinking it is a boot, though, because of the shape…

Gratuitous cat photos ahead:

Madison never wants to participate in photo sessions. Unless I feed him.

Here is Monkey with some of the toys from the box.

kitnipbox-october-2016-monkey2

And here he is taking a treat. He looks so gentle here. He really isn’t. He bites in such situations.

Sneaky had a good time with the ghost toy!

Mr. Kitty didn’t feel like playing, but I had to get some photos of him in here.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $34.17 for the October KitNipBox. That is better than last month and also a few dollars over the cost of the box, although I did have to take most of the values from the information card. However, most of the items are not easy to find and buy on your own, so there is some value in the curation, as well. I think my favorite item this month was the ghost, simply because of Sneaky’s reaction. It always makes me happy to see her play with toys that way.

I got this box and my guys seemed to enjoy it. No “hard” toys though, just soft toys for solo play like the bat and the popcorn. I really didn’t want to leave my teenager alone with the ghost as the string looked like something he could eat. Treats were popular! I just got the November box – and just cancelled. More soft catnip filled pillow like toys. Nothing “hard” to bat or chase. A single wand toy with a fabric streamer and some feathers. Not worth the money.

I haven’t opened the November box yet (it is a rather involved process for me!). But I am excited about a wand with fabric and feathers. That will make for some great pictures.

I never leave my cats alone with any toys that have strings on them. (Monkey has eaten some of my hair elastics in the past. They passed through, but I also learned a lesson there…)

My cats usually like soft toys. The only one of mine who is big into hard balls and such is Monkey. Put him in the (dry) bathtub with a few of those and he enjoys himself for like 20 minutes.

Hi Ragan I have two girl cats one that looks just like sneaky her name is (molly) and I have Daisy they loooooove eeek cat toys. I live in Wisconsin and they sell these toys at Pet stores.

I’ve gotten a lot of toys like that Eeek one in cat subscriptions before, and I’ve been able to find all of those online. I thought it quite strange I couldn’t find this one (except like in the Netherlands). Unless my Google skills were majorly off the day I wrote this. (Monkey thinks those toys are awesome.)
