Beautiful by Christina Lauren – Value $9.52 on Amazon (retail price: $16.00)
This paperback is the final book in the Beautiful series, which I was surprised by. I’ve not read the other books, which makes me nervous to read this one—how can I go back and enjoy the rest if I’ve read how the story ends? I do love that the book centers around a wild romp of a wine tour! It’s not super salacious, but there are still some steamy moments to enjoy.
Book Summary on Amazon:
Featuring the entire BEAUTIFUL series cast for one final hurrah!
A FREE-SPIRITED GIRL IN NEED OF A BREAK.
A MAN WEIGHED DOWN BY RESPONSIBILITY.
A ROAD TRIP VACATION WHERE ALL BETS ARE OFF.
OH, AND A LOT OF WINE.
After walking in on her boyfriend shagging another girl in their place, Pippa Bay Cox ditches London for the States to go on a drunken road trip with Ruby Miller and some of her Beautiful friends.
Scaling the career ladder is the default way to deal with heartbreak—and to just deal—for Jensen Bergstrom. Absolutely buried by his drive and workload, he rarely takes time for himself. But when his sister Hanna convinces him to join the gang on a two-week wine tour, he has a rare moment of cutting loose. Of course, it’s only once he’s committed that he realizes the strange girl he met briefly on the plane is coming along, too. She might be too much for him…or he might realize his life has become too small and needs her to make it bigger, crazier.
With this circle of friends there’s always something going on: from Chloe and Sara’s unexpected personality swaps to Will’s new domestic side to Bennett’s text message barrage and George’s own happily-ever-after. In short, their adventures in love, friendship, and hilarity are nothing short of Beautiful.
Inside the book, there’s a bookplate autographed by the author. I’ll be honest—I’m not a huge autograph person, but I appreciate that they included this little memento. It makes the experience a bit more special.
Here’s the back of the book. There’s nothing scary in this box, but the bright pumpkin orange of this cover is perfect for Halloween!
Ampersand Bangle by InitialFashion – Value $8.80
This silver bracelet is so cute! It’s made of pretty basic metal, which you can squeeze in order to hook the tension-secured ends together.
The ampersand-shaped charm is basically a little bead that slides freely around the length of the bangle. I love how simple this bangle is. It’s lightweight, too, which makes it comfortable to wear. If you didn’t like this for yourself, I bet it’d make a great gift for a friend or your better half!
The last piece in the box was this burlap bag.
Extra Large Book Club Wine Glass – Value $12.00?
I couldn’t find this exact piece, but similar items run about $12.00 (not counting the burlap bag, which I’m guessing is about $1.00). The glass reads “What happens at book club stays at book club”—a cute nod to the sassy conversation that a little wine and some sensual reading material can conjure.
This glass is big! It’s probably twice the size of a typical wine glass, but it’s still comfortable enough to hold in one hand. I’d recommend washing this piece by hand, as I’m not sure how enduring the lettering will be. It’s smart that this box dropped a little book club reference in with this item since one of their selling points is having “book club” discussions for recipients to participate in. This glass is a nice reminder that I should hop on Facebook and get in on the chatter!
Verdict: Beaulitful Reads is really cute. The value of the items in the box is around $30.00, which exceeds the $24.00 price of the box (so long as shipping isn’t too pricey for you, it’s pretty cost effective). I like that there’s a community element to the subscription, too. I do wish the book was from an earlier point in the series it’s from, but it’s still proving to be a fun book to spend an evening with!
