Powered Geek Box August 2016 - 7

It was nice to see some new packaging from Powered Geek Box - they've moved away from their black boxes to a more fun box featuring some of the best characters in video games and comics.

This was also the very first month with a theme! The theme was Villains.

Godzilla Shirt - Value $12 on Amazon

This month's shirt features Godzilla. I can see Godzilla as both a hero and a villain - but in the case of this shirt, he's most definitely a villain!

The Joker POP - Value $8 on Amazon

The Joker is the ultimate villain in my book. This is Jared Leto's Joker from Suicide Squad. I've still yet to see the movie, but I've heard mixed reviews from comic fans and non-comic fans. I'll do my best to go in with an open mind!

Powered Geek Box August 2016 - 9

DC Original Minis - Value $6 on Amazon

My next item was also from Suicide Squad - it's a DC Original Mini blind bag.

Powered Geek Box August 2016 - 6

I got The Joker once again - no complaints here!

Murloc Pocket POP - Value $7 on Amazon

We got a second Funko item this month - this time, it's a Pocket POP from World of Warcraft. I got Murloc, but I would guess there's some variation with this item. Who did you get? I really like Pocket POPs - they're easily my favorite Funko item behind POPs. The keychain will easy unscrew, and you have yourself a mini POP.

Batman Villains Playing Cards - Value $7 on Amazon

It's pretty common to get a deck of playing cards in geek boxes lately - but few have been as awesome as this deck.

Powered Geek Box August 2016 - 14

Here's a small sampling of the cards. The villains are shown in all their different forms, too! Just in this picture, you'll find The Joker from the Arkham games, New 52, Animated Series, and the classic comics! These are just awesome!

Joker Air Freshener - Value $10 on Amazon

The final Joker item I received this month was this air freshener. The scent was not very good - but it's the Joker, so I'd probably still display it.

Powered Geek Box August 2016 - 11

Hydra Pin - Value $5 on Amazon

The ultimate evil organization in the Marvel Universe - Hydra! Show your allegiance with this mini pin.

Powered Geek Box August 2016 - 10

I Love Harley Quinn Sticker - Value $1-2?

The final item is a Harley Quinn sticker - I'm not a fan of Harley, but it's a cool looking sticker.

Verdict: My values come to around $57 - which is decent for a box costing me $40 shipped. This box is hard to predict, though. While this month was the first with a theme, the spoiler released included all kinds of villains, including ones that were not seen in this box - so it's still kind of a toss-up at the moment. Overall, it was a good box for me - all the Joker items probably put it over-the-top for myself, but a lot of the non-DC items we not in my wheelhouse.

I colored the Joker in the bottom left card (the image is from the DC graphic novel “Joker”). Gave me a start to see a familiar piece on here. Worlds colliding! 😀

Oops I meant the bottom right card (that’s what I get for typing while sleepy at night!) The artist on that was the amazing Lee Bermejo.

That shirt is one of the best ones I have seen from a geek box!

I personally really liked Suicide Squad, but you might not enjoy it too much if you aren’t a Harley fan: it’s primarily focused on her and Deadshot. I think it’s still worth seeing, but it’s something to keep in mind.
