Lipstick

Lipstick 2

Lip Butter by Jelly Pong Pong (0.12 oz.) - $18.95

First of all I have to say these lip butters have hands down the cutest packaging ever. This formula is very creamy and moisturizing. The color I received is called Hot Air Balloons. Unfortunately it’s way too pale for my skin. It reminds me of 60’s frosted lips though the formula isn’t frosted at all. Weird.

Strobe Stick

Sweet Strobe by Trifle (0.11 oz.) - $19.95

I like this illuminator stick from Trifle. I’ve received a lot of illuminators from my Lip Love pouches and I am happy with their formulas and colors. This one is very white and will be nice for my inner eye.

Blush

Blush 2

Blush 3

Cheek Rethink by So Susan (0.11 oz.) - $22.95

I love getting blushes in subscription boxes because blush is something I actually wear every day. Unfortunately though, these colors just didn’t work for my coloring. The red cream blush was too dark and the powder pink blush didn’t carry much pigment just a lot of iridescent sheen which I didn’t find flattering. In the photo I am wearing the pink shimmering blush so you can see the iridescence.

Eyeliner

Mesmer-Eyes by So Susan  (0.10 oz.) - $22

This waterproof eyeliner in black has a fine point for precision application. I can attest to its staying power! I had to scrub with soap and water to get it off my arm from the swatch I did below. I rarely wear eyeliner, but this is a nice staple to have in the arsenal.

Swatches

From top to bottom the swatches are: illuminator, lipstick, powder blush, cream blush, and eyeliner.

Swatches 2

I'm not really happy with these colors on me or this photo, but here goes! I’m wearing the hot air balloons lipstick here. On the left cheek you can see the shimmery pink blush. On the right cheek I am wearing the red cream blush. I’m wearing my own mascara.

Verdict: This Lip Love pouch was not a big hit for me. Neither the blush nor lipstick work for my skin coloring. I will certainly use the illuminator and the eyeliner is a nice basic to have for occasions when I wear eye makeup other than just mascara. I adore the pouch this month. I’ve always loved the Albert Camus quote: “Autumn is a second spring, when every leaf is a flower.” The value this month is fabulous at over $83 and I hope these colors worked well for the other subscribers with darker skin tones!

I wonder if I will ever get my September bag. I had this tracking number that said my address undeliverable and it was returned to Chicago. strange, because August bag arrived just fine. I emailed customer service weeks ago. no response either. Im very dissapointed with them

Min.

If I sub today or tomorrow will I still get September or are they on to October now?

Use the lipstick in the center of your bottom lip (over another color) to give dimension! I always have a pale nude on hand for this.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Maybe the blushes are meant to be used together… what would the pink powder on top of the red cream look like?

You are right the lipstick is not a hit. Please reconsider the shimmery blush. It looks beautiful on you and not at all too glittery!!

Thanks Jenn, maybe I’ll have to give it another go!

I agree!

I would use it as a highlighter, I think. I also have very pale skin and pink powders like that work well as highlighters for me (at least on the cheekbones — not sure I’d put it anywhere else).

Aw, the packaging is why I love my cosmetics! Too bad the colors didn’t work.

This reminds me of GlossyBox, not least because the price is also in lbs. I do wonder if some companies send out multiple boxes. That’s not bad – I love GlossyBox, and the European cosmetics they often include.

Hi there! Does their packaging state where their makeup is manufactured? Looks promising!

Jessica

Manufactured in Italy and packaging made in China. Hope this helps!

Libby

Yes it does! I contacted their CS to inquire a few days ago, but no response back yet. 🙁 So thanks very much Jessica!

While on its own the lipstick is a bust I like having a white lipstick to tone down colors that are too dark or bright.

I was going to say the same thing. And to create an ombre effect. It may become a favorite for special effects!

That cosmetic bag is so stinkin’ cute. Also, I think you could add a light colored lipgloss over the lipcolor–the gloss would tone it down a bit, and it would be a nice nude colored lip for a smoky eye. Just my (unsolicited) two cents!

I used to get this sub and the bags were much higher quality. Heavy metal zippers and beautiful applique. They went cheaper about a year ago. Sad. And you get the same ole same ole with this sub. But it’s great for a while.

Lately a number of subs have been sending out this terrible lip color. Its not really nude and it does look like a 60s frost color. I don’t think this is a color that is flattering on anyone. The packaging is very cute. I got a similar type lip stick and packaging in my Glossybox. I am not a fan of nude lip color – I don’t actually see the point, but I agree this is not a great color on anyone. These must be the lipsticks that no one is buying – so they end up in sub boxes. This is the time when sub boxes are not worth it because then you end up with a bunch of cosmetics no one else will buy. Sometimes, I think its better to save your money on subs and just go and buy the color you actually get to test and that you want.
