Dia & Co. Subscription Box Review – September 2016

Dia & Co. is a monthly clothing styling subscription service for plus sizes. When I signed up for the service, I filled out a fairly in-depth questionnaire about my likes and dislikes, my size, my price range, and other questions that might help my stylist. Every month my stylist sends five pieces for me to try out. The service fee is $20 per month, but that fee is applied to any item I decide to keep. Additionally, there is a 20% discount if I decide to keep all five pieces!

FYI - My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your package from Dia & Co. may be completely different!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Cost: $20 Styling fee (Pay for whatever items you keep minus the $20 credit)

This is the note I received from my stylist this month, Stephanie, explaining why she chose each item. I absolutely love that she refers to my style board on Pinterest! Thank you for taking the time to look at it, Stephanie!

This is the invoice for the items they sent this month. It shows each item and the cost to keep, plus the cost of the items totaled. Then at the bottom it shows the total with the styling fee credited and the 20% discount for keeping all five items. The discount this month would be $64.40 if I kept all five items. That's a deep discount!

Lyla Top by Sharagano Sportswear - Cost to Keep $49

I can totally see why my stylist chose this for me. It completely fits with my usual boho aesthetic. Unfortunately, I feel like the lower border makes me look like I'm in an inner tube, except the inner tube is made of... me... OK, it's just not flattering...

These pants are super comfy! I think they look pretty cute, too. I haven't seen pants made of this biz-casual material in a jogger / harem cut before. They don't really make 100% sense to me, but I kind of like them.

Maribel Top by Tua - Cost to Keep $40

I love this top! It makes me feel like a hippie in the Swiss Alps. I love the black and red on white pattern, and I think the open neckline and flowing cut are fairly flattering on me. It's also a great piece to transition to fall. This is a keeper!

Faye Oversized Denim Jacket by Rachel Roy - Cost to Keep $99

I kind of like the distressed look on denim, but this jacket is a little too far for my tastes. I think I look like I was attacked by a wild animal. The back has more of the same. And since this is the third denim jacket I've received in my styling boxes this month, I probably should send this one back.

Maxine Dress - Cost to Keep $85

This dress is beautiful! It's totally my style, it's flattering, and the colors are perfect for fall. Win!

Verdict: Dia & Co. is one of my favorite subscription boxes! It's true that it took a month or so for them to get my style down, but lately they have been sending me lots and lots of good stuff. I think I will be keeping the pants, dress, and Maribel top this month, but please vote and let me know what you think I should keep. I love crowd sourcing! I also love that Dia kind of makes me step out of my comfort zone and try new things. It's awesome!

That dress is absolutely STUNNING on you! WOW!

I bought a similar pair of pants that were on clearance. As someone who is also plus and short, I found that they look really good with a more fitted top, and I actually roll the hems in a small cuff to show some ankle, which I know some people think makes short people look shorter, but I love showing ankle with my slim or tapered pants. It makes me feel a little more balanced in the shape.
Also, yes yes yes to that dress 🙂

That Maxine dress is FANTASTIC on you!!! 🙂

ROFL about that jacket. Before I saw your comment about the wild animal I thought to myself, “Did she get attacked by a crazy husband wielding an electric mixer?!?” So the wild animal comment sent me into hsyterics. Thanks for the laugh.

The Maxine dress is absolutely stunning on you!! I love the cut and pattern. That jacket though is no good. I don’t like denim or torn items, so it’s definitely not my taste anyway!

The poll is not wanting to load for me, but I would vote for what you already picked. I’ve seen you model some things that look great, but I believe that dress is the best thing I’ve seen on you yet. I love it on you!!!

You are 100% cotrect this time. I would wear the dress with your hair up, though. Something about the pattern and length of your hair draws the eyes downward…or something. .heck, I can’t explain it..lol.

“Looks like I was attacked by a wild animal”…hahaha, that is so funny and I couldn’t agree more. That dress looks amazing on you!

Anna. I absolutely love the dress. How tall are you? Just wondering how something like that will fall on me?. I’m 5′ 3″

Loving that dress! Need that dress. The Maribel top is super cute too!

The denim jacket is just distressed gone wrong. Who distressed it in a way that looks less like from wear than from a physical altercation?!? I think the first top could have been fine but the sizing looks off. May be that designer’s sizes are actually smaller than typical? It seems like a fit problem.

The pants… I’m biased. I wore MC Hammer pants back in the day (heck, I saw him perform) and anything with a dropped waist reminds me of my silly Hammer pants. So they always feel dated, and not retro cool dated, to me. OK. They just remind me of bad hair and stupid mistakes. ;-). So, I can’t objectively judge drop crotch pants.

Anna

Haha! Maybe it’s Hammer Time again? Thanks Loba!

“Hippie in the Swiss Alps” cracked me up! The dress is PERFECT on you. I agree w/the stylist on pairing it with motorcycle boots. Also love the crowd sourcing polls. Very fun addition.

Anna

Thanks Amy! Lol!

I agree w/ everyone else! The top is cute and would look awesome with slimmer pants (tight jeans or a slightly stiffer fabric pants). The jacket’s cut/shape is super flattering, but the distressing is way too much – lol (can’t get the wild animal image out of my mind – hehehe). And the dress…. Swoon! It’s beautiful and you look amazing! <3 And the voting was fun! 🙂

Anna

Thanks so much Amy!

Oh my goodness, that jacket is odd. Distressed denim should look like it happened naturally, from normal wear and tear. I agree, the jacket looks like it was attacked or chewed up in an old washing machine! That dress definitely made up for it though.

I love that dress. I can’t afford this box but wish I could.

As always I love the voting thing and wish it was done more other then just you. I really think you have some good finds there. Love the dress on you and it also looks comfy. I to love jean jackets but I like a darker jean color. Thanks for amazing review.

Thank you Bwth!

I love the Maribel top (hippie in the Swiss alps?).Normally I would say keep the jean jacket(cause I l-o-v-e jean jackets) but those rips are too much.

Anna

Agreed katie! Lol
