There was a standard information card in the box listing the items.

“Cats are Cool” Coozy – Value $5

This is exclusive to the box so I took the value from the information card. My workplace provides free sodas so I will take this there and keep my Diet Dr. Pepper cool.

Cat Print Zippered Pouch by Casey D. Sibley Art + Design – Value $15

I just went through my stash and got rid of no fewer than 50 cosmetics bags. But, I did keep all the ones with cats on them…No photos of the inside because it’s just plain. But this will be good for keeping lipsticks in my purse. This design seems to be exclusive to the box but similar ones are selling for this price in the Casey D. Sibley Etsy Shop.

Colorful Fish Catnip Toy by Imperial Cat – Value $1.88

The blue part of this has the canvas texture that Monkey really likes. So he licked it until it was wet. I got another one of these from Cat Claws Club this month (review coming soon).

Fruit-Shaped Honeysuckle Toy by Zanies – Value $1.99

Zanies is a common brand in cat subscriptions. Apparently some cats will respond to the scent of honeysuckle. I didn’t really notice that with mine, but I learned something new and you have to try it at least once to see. I could only find expired eBay listings for this so the value is from the information card.

Crab Catnip Plush Toy by Doggles – Value $3.89

I got one of these in another subscription box awhile back. I have to say I think they are about the cutest things ever. I like the eyes. There’s actually a whole product line of “sushi” type creatures. (The cats like it too…)

“My Cat is So Cute” Acrylic Tumbler – Value $12.99

This is exclusive to the box so I took the value from the information card. Lately they are doing some road construction around here and my commute has gotten just awful, so I will use this to take drinks with me in the morning.

Fe-Lime Lip Balm from Crazy Cat Lady Products – Value $6

This rolled away and I didn’t see it until later, so it gets its own photo. I have a LOT of lip balms from subscription boxes, but I am totally a crazy cat lady and the image on the tube even looks a bit like me when I am wearing my glasses (pale skin and black hair and all). So this is appropriate!

It is difficult to take photos of black cats. I’m just happy he didn’t have laser eyes.

I think the crab toy is seriously cute. The cats liked these toys, but weren’t really in the mood to pose for the camera when I took these pictures.

Yay, Sneaky biting something!

I mentioned this in a previous review, but Mr. Kitty was not feeling well during the early part of August (had an overnight stay at the emergency vet!). So, he is not going to be in pictures in some of the cat box reviews for this month. Rest assured he is undergoing the proper treatment and that he is feeling better (and I did get some photos of him for later reviews this month).

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $46.75 for the August 2016 The Cat Kit. That is above the cost of the box, month-to-month, and is an even better deal for a multi-month subscription. I was introduced to some new Etsy artisans and the items are all useful. I also like that the value is spread out among the items so if one thing is not for you, you can still get value out of the box. And I think the crab toy is awesome.

What do you think of August’s The Cat Kit? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?

  1. That tumbler is super cute but it’s the only thing in the box that I would want so I can’t justify the price of the box for me to get just for the tumbler 🙁

  2. Get well, Mr. Kitty! I always like seeing your pictures when you feel well enough to model for us.

  3. I miss Mr. Kitty. Sending him lots of loves and ear scratches.

  4. Many good thoughts coming the way of Mr. Kitty. It’s hard when they get old. My black cat Pierre takes the worst picture he looks like a rat. But my Louis is quite handsome in photos. Pierre was a feral so that have had something to do with it. Good healing thoughts coming Mr. Kittys way.

  5. Big cat hugs to Mr Kitty and to you during this stressful time. I’ve been on a roller coaster of emotions with my baby Tabbeze (he’s an old deaf man with lots of health issues too…currently he’s on meds for a chronic liver problem as well as some sort of respiratory issue).

    Get well soon!!
