Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 5

Good To Know: Sci-Fi Block, like all other Nerd Blocks, does not have a monthly theme - but you will know, at least, 3 franchises that will be in the box before it ships.

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 10

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 11

Each month comes with an info card with all the information you need to know about your box.

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 12

Another new feature across all blocks, including Sci-Fi Block, is that you'll receive a $10 ShirtPunch credit in every box. You'll be able to purchase shirts and toys from their site. Personally, I've been getting POPs with these credit vouchers - in most cases, I end up only paying the $6 shipping charge.

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 6

Planet of the Apes Shirt - Value $15?

This month's exclusive shirt features Planet of the Apes. It's a cool design featuring that classic scene! While I'm not a huge fan of the movies, I absolutely appreciate a classic - I usually end up watching them with my parents.

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 3

Zapp Brannigan POP - Value $8-9 on Amazon

This month, everyone received a Futurama POP! Who did you receive? My POP was Zapp Brannigan - who is new to my collection, so I couldn't have received a better POP selection!

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 4

Doctor Who Time Squad Keychain - Value $10-15

This month, subscribers also received a Doctor Who vinyl keychain. These are blind box - so you could have received numerous variants of possible characters.

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 14

I received the Weeping Angel as my blind box vinyl keychain.

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 15

You can also remove the keychain from the top of the vinyl figure if you'd like to simply display it upright.

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 7

Terminator Mega Bloks Build A Character - Value $6.99

This month also featured an item from Terminator: Genisys. Everyone received a resistance soldier build-a-character.

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 13

Here's the completed Mega Blok scene. The soldier had numerous little items you could add to him if you like - or you could store them in one of the little crates!

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 8

Lost in Space Robot Model - Value $10

The final item in the box is a plastic model for the Lost in Space Robot.

Sci-Fi Block August 2016 - 9

There are a bunch of little pieces to assemble. You will need rubber cement or some type of glue for this project - which we did not have.

Verdict: This Sci-Fi Block didn't hit many of my personal fandoms, so it's hard to call it a big win. That being said, I'll take a Futurama POP any day of the week - I love that item! If you're a fan of the more old-school Sci-Fi, this would be a really good box for you - as I rarely see Lost in Space or Planet of the Apes in subscription boxes.

I just subscribed a couple weeks ago and this was my first box. I found it kind of disappointing, it didn’t hit many of my faves either. I did like the POP and the shirt though, so not too bad. I love Doctor Who, but I got Clara…and she’s…not my favorite. I would have been happy with anyone else. Lol. Next month looks much more exciting for me!

That t-shirt is awesome, and who would not love a Futurama pop?
