Included in the package was a nice welcome note. Book Bears is donating a picture book to a child in need for joining the service. What a great idea!

Share Card

I love the inclusion of the share card in the package. It listed the title and author of this month’s selection as well as discussion questions to ask your little bear during and after reading. They also included an activity idea to dress up and rescue stuffed animals, or create and complete an obstacle course at home for “training”.

Rescue Bunnies by Doreen Cronin- $16.99

Newbie is a rescue bunny in training. She is anxious to finally have her field test and finally become an official rescue bunny. When the alarm sounds she is saddled with the responsibility of rescuing a giraffe from a pack of hungry hyenas. The book is peppered with lines from well-known movies (“you had me at hello”, “you can’t handle the truth” and “here’s looking at you kid”) that sailed right over my 5 year old son’s head. We love Doreen Cronin’s books, but this one wasn’t a hit as much as some of her others.

Coloring page

This cute coloring page could be trimmed so that the bottom portion becomes a bookmark. My son colored it in and wanted to keep it attached and save these each month to keep track of what books he reads with me. We will list other titles on the back.

Verdict: Book Bears is a nice book subscription to encourage your kids to read more. I liked the addition of the discussion questions and coloring page as well. I’m looking forward to seeing what other selections they pick in the coming months.

What do you think of Book Bears? What’s your favorite Doreen Cronin book?

  1. You missed the captured in the picture above. It’s from the movie Airplane, with Leslie Neilson . “Surely, you can’t be serious”, “I am serious… and don’t call me Shirley”. One of the best lines in the movie, but definitely at least PG13 flick.
