The only thing I’m excited about is finding out what will be in the next LE box. None of the Milk products look that exciting and I’ve tried everything else in the currated box.

Milk is new to me so I’m excited to try one of their products. I think I’ll go with the highlighter since I’m a little addicted to highlighters at the moment!

I am disappointed in that I cannot eliminate samples I will never use. I do not want any type of hand products: fingernail polish, fingernail files and buffers. I am interested in lipstick, lip liner, mascara, eye shadown. I am not interested in any kind of skin care. My doctor has recommended a program for my skin. I enjoy getting the Birch Box every month.

So glad I cancelled. More of the same old for sample choice, and the curated box is just leftovers! I received 4/5 of those items the past year. Wow. I bet BB will be gone soon unless they change their business practices soon.

I’ll probably go with the curated box, because at least there will be 4/5 things I will use. Blah.

I’m only 3 months in so I haven’t gotten any of these products.any tips on choosing the curated or sample choice? I do wanna try dry shampoo n the face wash. But I do the Korean 10 step lol I’m just a sample hoarder. No-one buys me gifts ever so I like these boxes even if they are small

molly

The Not Your Mother’s Brand of dry shampoo is great and available full size at every Walmart and Target for $5. it helps a lot with body and lift too

Last time I chose the curated box because I really wanted the Stila lip stick and then everyone’s pictures of their monthly box included the Stila too so that was a bit disappointing. I would say if you would like to try the majority of items in the curated box then get it but being new you will most likely receive the dry shampoo in one of your boxes soon anyway.

I’ve not yet recieved any items in the curated box because I’m a new-ish subscriber but I also think I might like the lip + cheek product. Are the items in the curated box worth trying (for someone who’s never used them before) or should I go with the sample choice?

Sara

That Vasanti exfoliator is the best ever.

Reply ButtonReply

tpop

I really like the Vasanti cleanser but the full-size is too expensive for me. I also really like the Amika dry shampoo (have the full-size) and want a travel size – it’s $10 to buy. The BB I won’t use, and I haven’t tried the other two products so I can’t comment. One thing is, the last couple months they’ve put the curated box up for sale in their shop for $10, so if that happens again you could try those products that way. But we won’t know until after we have to choose whether or not that’s going to happen again. I’m not sure what I’ll do yet…

I have to say the vasanti sample is very generous! I used it for about 2 months, and even let my mom try it. We both loved it so much we ordered the full size even though I’d never normally spend that much on face wash. I loved too that it’s something like 99% natural products.

linda

I would say if theres one item you specifically want, go for it instead because the items in this currated box are pretty common, so if you stick around youre bound to get to try them at some point. and really i dont think this month they are anything to write home about…”another mascara”, lipgloss with spf is neat…but i feel like summer is over, “another BB cream”- again, summer is almost out the window. the dry shampoo is good, but ive only been getting boxes since like march and I have like 3 spares of that specific one. the face wash I havent tried.
Also, sometimes boxes have 6 items…this one doesnt so…its an easy skip
although this will be my first month skipping the currated box :0

Just canceled Birchbox. My daughter said she’s staying a little longer.

I’m going to cancel mine. My daughter might pick the highlight.

Can I just say, it’s distracting to see someone with lavender nail polish holding these samples. All I can look at is her nails…and I don’t think there’s any polish in the box.

Someday I’ll take a leap at the famous Birchbox, but for a gift of ANOTHER black mascara? That’s a turnoff.

August was my one year anniversary as an ACE and i was expecting to receive a gift. Has anyone gotten one this summer? I’m wondering if they’ve canceled that along with the other perks like points.

Reply ButtonReply

TK

I’ve been an Ace for almost 3 years. I think the first anniversary year I got a code for $10 off $35 purchase. I may have gotten something like that for my birthday too the first year. Nothing since then. One thing to note is you can’t use more than one code per order. I didn’t catch on to the gift with purchase thing for awhile but I always select one now. Sometimes I purchase items in separate orders so I can select more than one GWP(no shipping charge with Ace status). I’ve found some great products with BB that I continue to use and order from them. Making purchases is one of the few ways left to earn points. The monthly boxes have become disappointing to long time subscribers but if you’re fairly new to BB, I think you will enjoy it.

Kimberly

I’ve been an ace for more than two years and haven’t gotten anything. Sadly, I think those days are long past. It was easy for me to cancel this month, and definitely don’t regret it after seeing these spoilers. I really hope they turn things around and you find yourself pleasantly surprised with an ACE gift, though! 😀

I have never tried a milk product so I am really excited to get one. Now if only I could decide. Highlighter or lip/cheek……………………..

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

Me too! Never tried a Milk product before so I am excited to try the lip-cheek….
The curated box though? Meh.

Reply ButtonReply

SSM

Man, it’s almost painful to see them trying to look so excited about those samples.

Reply ButtonReply

Shannon

Wow, what a snooze-fest. I remember when I used to be excited by the curated boxes AND the sample choices — so much so that I had two different accounts so I could do one of each box. But the past few months have been so disappointing, and this is no exception. I’ve seen three of those items in the curated box several times over by now. Plus the fact that they’re no longer doing the special designs for the curated boxes…it’s abundantly clear they’re not even trying anymore. I’m riding out my yearly sub until it’s up and then I’m out.

Reply ButtonReply

TK

I have no interest in any of those products. I’ve been with BB since 2013 and after my yearly sub ends, I will probably cancel. The concept of the box is great…try new products for $10/mo. but if you keep getting the same products what’s the point? I’m tired of amika, supergoop and really tired of dry shampoos. I’ve found some amazing products thru my BB sub and the limited edition boxes are pretty great but it might be time to move on.

Reply ButtonReply

Krista

I like the Dr Jart, but this is probably not the right shade for me. The Amika and Vasanti have both been around for AGES. We just had a mascara month and now they’re putting mascara in the curated box? Blah.

I’ll probably go with the highlighter, but this is not inspiring me to stick around. BB is going to have to up their game.

Reply ButtonReply

Christine

I’m usually the lightest shade in foundations with pink undertones, and that Dr. Jart sample was slightly too dark for me if that helps.

Reply ButtonReply

Sophie

The last few months have been awful for me. I kept saying “one more month, what’s $10?” but when I think about it in the grand scheme, that’s $120 I could spend on things I ACTUALLY WANT each year. I think it’s time to finally throw in the towel, cash out my points and say goodbye.

Reply ButtonReply

Trish M.

I’ve also been doing the “one more month” vow in my head. I’ve reached the one year point with BB and today’s reveal does not give much incentive to stay on.

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

That’s sound logic… I need to do the same. I’ve been doing the “just one more month” since the points change was announced.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan

Super disappointed this month…actually for the past few months. I had planned on canceling, but I’ll stick around for the month of September since there might be something worthwhile for a subscriber (because it’s their birthday month). Plus I’m excited about the new limited edition box coming out (on my birthday!!). But so long birchbox after Sept.

heat7918

I’m a subscriber / VIP and for my birthday this month, I got a code to take $10 off an order of $50 – FYI

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

I’ve been with them for a few years and am VIP. Didn’t get a bday code this year. Emailed and asked about it and they gave me a code that wouldn’t work, then said I could make a purchase and email them for a refund of the discount amount. No thanks, hassle. Birchbox is not the same at all as when I started. I don’t really care about any of the selections this month, lots of repeats, but will probably go curated just to avoid another perfume sample. Not renewing my annual sub once it ends.

amber

None of this is exciting. It seems like they are just trying to clear out old inventory. I haven’t tried any of those milk products before so I’ll probably go with the highlighter.

Reply ButtonReply

heatherlxx

That’s what I’m thinking, too. You’d think the focus would shift toward fall to get people to buy the full-size products. I’m pretty new to boxes, though, so maybe this is just what happens in September?

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

Yes, don’t we all have tons of amika dry shampoo already???

Reply ButtonReply

Amber P

Birchbox just doesn’t cater to individuals who have been long time subscribers at this point. All of the items and brands featured this month are staples in their boxes and in their shop and have been for years.

The free gift mascara I will say is a REALLY nice mascara, but how is that an incentive when you get the option (or not and just get it anyway) to have mascara in your box every month?

The Vasanti item is something I got in my box and in TWO mystery gift packs when I was a subscriber. It’s your basic cleanser, nothing special.

Amika – standard brand for BB. I also received multiple of these in my time as a subscriber. I hate dry shampoo, but overall was never unhappy with the brand.

Dr Jart BB cream was one of the worst ones I tried. Super disappointing. I swear it gave my skin a tinge of green look to it. And while Dr Jart is also a BB staple, I only ever got the one item in the two years I was a subscriber.

Supergoop is a great brand but with painfully tiny sample sizes. I literally picture a lip balm sample of that brand to be half the size of my thumb.

Milk seems to be everywhere lately, what’s up with that?

I almost feel like at this point they’re TRYING to get rid of their long term customer base.

Reply ButtonReply

Amie

They are really trying to make Milk happen, aren’t they?

I’ll probably go for the curated box because the Dr Jart BB cream is one that I use regularly so it will be nice to have a travel size. And I can never have enough dry shampoo.

Reply ButtonReply

Aria

I’ve been so on the fence about cancelling. I was upset about how they handled the point change, and I haven’t seen any new brands in a while. However when I look around my vanity, I see a lot of great products that I wouldn’t have discovered without Birchbox. I think I stay out of nostalgia for good they used to be.

Reply ButtonReply

Natalie

And now, there’s not even special box art for the curated box? Lame. I really like the Vasanti product, but the rest of that box is a total snoozezfest and I’m pretty sure that everyone has a box full of unopened mascara samples by now thanks to Birchbox and Sephora.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

I know – I’m bummed about the fact that the curated box won’t have a special design anymore. It’s just another sign that they are getting away from the sample boxes, in my opinion.

Reply ButtonReply

Mary K

Melissa, I think you’re right. At the very least, they are shaving costs left and right, and offering two different box styles each month must’ve been too expensive going forward with their new points-stingy plan. I’ve also noticed their info card went from high-quality print stock to a rather flimsy piece of paper. It’s the little things that matter, and Birchbox is starting to feel like a sad little box in many ways…

jbear

Why include one of the sample choice in the curated box….

Reply ButtonReply

Rookala

I’ve been a yearly subscriber since early 2012, and am finally going to cancel my sub when this year expires – this curated box really made the decision for me ~ I hate everything in it. WAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Amber

I’m curious to see if the cheek color or highlighter is as pathetic sized as the trio (blush, highlighter, bronzer) i returned last month. there was probably less than a quarter inch of product in each tube! (and it cost $30!!) I’m going to pick the cheek color, because I wanted to try it before I attempted to buy. I have had enough mascara for a while, and I haven’t liked any of them.
