Good to know: The books were individually wrapped (at no extra charge) and it felt like unwrapping a special gift. I think this is a nice touch, especially for a kid’s box!
Freckleface Strawberry by Julianne Moore - $12.59 on Amazon (retail price: $17.99)
I love this story by actress Julianne Moore, maybe in part because I have quite a few freckles myself! My son thought it was very funny too. This story is about a little girl with red hair and tons of freckles and she doesn’t like all the attention (mostly negative) that her freckles receive. She tries everything she can to get rid of them and then finally comes to accept them. I think stories for children about self-love are so important and this one was well done.
Snuggle Up, Sleepy Ones by Claire Freedman - $16.00 (no longer in print in hardcover format)
Snuggle Up, Sleepy Ones is a sweet, gentle rhyming book about wild animals getting ready for bed. This is a soothing book for a nighttime routine. It wasn’t a hit with my 5 year old son, he prefers something with more humor or excitement. I think it would make a nice baby shower gift though and it is still available for purchase on Amazon in Board Book format.
Verdict: Lil' Bear Book Club does a nice job sending quality hardcover books each month. We love that they come wrapped which makes unboxing this subscription extra fun for my kids. The retail value this month is hard to pinpoint since one of the books is out of print (in hardcover format) but I always feel that this subscription is well worth the price. Adding new books to our collection each month is exciting!
What do you think of this month’s Lil' Bear Book Club? Would your children love unwrapping new books each month?
