Just got an email saying “Because we’re all about no excuses, we wanted to give you an update on your order. You have not been billed for your August beauty box because we’ve had a small hiccup in the production of No Excuses. Since we want to get your order to you as soon as possible, we will be sending out the other items in your box with upgraded FREE expedited shipping. You’ll get a shipping notification with tracking information soon. We will be billing your order on Friday, July 29th….. Very disappointed since my last months box was delayed bc of the lip shade with spf (which I did LOVE). I don’t like the idea that items are being selected in place of the No Excuses and I had no say so in it. Hoping for really good items 🙁 🙁

i really hope i get the august box. i just signed up today (which is apparently billing day). I’m not to sure how this works. do we get all the polishes or only a few of them or? I’m really excited, especially after hearing opi & essie test on animals (which I’m very against) and Julep doesn’t. it’s nice to switch to a cruelty free brand.

Has anyone noticed the size of the sunscreen – 1 oz!!!!
That is absolutely absurd! It’s a sample size! I was all about trying it until seeing that…

Hmmm on the fence here… I like a few of the polishes but need more sunscreen like a hole in the head. Maybe just a basic box this month for me (unless they have the polish thinner back in stock) or a skip. We’ll see how it looks when the customization window opens.

I wasn’t pleased with how they handled the issue with the lip sheers with the dodgy expiration dates – acting like they did us a favor by letting us have ‘lab samples’ we paid for and saying they didn’t know how much the SPF would matter on a product called ‘lip shade’. I found it ironic that they were promoting ‘no excuses’ sunscreen and then gave a whole list of them. I’m going to ask for my jules back, since I used them for this box, and if they don’t refund them, I’m skipping this month and using the money at Sephora.

Jane Park addressed the issue on her Live with Jane video on Friday. She said it had to do with the fact that they hadn’t had the product in testing long enough to tell how long the sunscreen was good for, and they decided to put them out now instead of waiting for a year of testing to see if the sunscreen still worked. Which I would have been fine with, if they had told us upfront. I think that was a real lost opportunity to show themselves as an ethical company on their part, especially on the heels of Birchbox’s recent missteps (since there are a lot of people who sub to both.)

But, good news, they put the full 2000 jules back in my account, which was more than I was expecting, so I’ll be happily taking the (now free) August box. I’ll probably pass on the sunscreen – I’m pretty happy with the supergoop serum & eye sunscreen I’m using (full-size purchases after getting both in my Birchbox.)

Huh I must have missed this entirely… got the email about the delay and then got my box, nowhere did I see or hear anything about them being lab samples.

Same. Details please!

Carolina

Was there a thread about the expiration dates/SPF? I’m finally receiving mine today and it would suck for it to expire shortly after.

The colors are cute, & I’m intrigued by the idea of sunscreen gel.

I love all the nail colors, and I like the lip color. Don’t need any more sunscreen, especially since my busy season starts next month and not only won’t I be leaving the house at all, it’ll be hard to leave my desk. Besides, I have a ton of sunscreen from other boxes piled up.

Jennifer @tearapache

I am interested to see the ingredient list for the sunscreen! If it proves to be gentle, fragrance free and full of beneficial ingredients I might get a box this month. Otherwise, I will skip.

I’m assuming you went to their website and checked out the ingredients, right??

I love julep products but I was really offended with their practices during their last sale. On the julep app, it very clearly indicated the sale was 50% off off all items, and it showed my Maven pricing on the listings all of the items. However, when I put them in the cart, the prices were raised to the non-Maven prices and the 50% was off of the higher price. I called customer service and told them about that and they said yes they were aware of that problem w the app but they did not correct the pricing on my order. I think that was so sleazy and misleading. If that’s the sale they want to offer, fine, then tell people 50% is off the original prices. But don’t change prices as people put items in their cart. I’m off julep for now!

Oh my, I like all of those polishes. Sunscreen maybe, but only if it’s mineral (can’t do chemical sunscreens, they sometimes give me rashes).

I’m excited to try their sunscreen. I’ve been using several SPF 50s this summer (most from sub boxes) but they all end up in my eyes. I’m interested to see if the gel stays put. If it does, I’ll settle for the 40 SPF.

I’m still waiting on my July box, glad I won’t be rushing to get the August box.

Utena

I’m actually just getting my July box this week (after nearly a month of waiting). The shipping confirmation came last week. I love all of the colors in this collection so I’ll still get them. I’m hoping the August collection doesn’t take as long as July to ship out. It’s been the longest wait time for me so far when waiting for a Maven package.

Same here! It’s supposed to arrive today.

I think it was just the lip shade that made them this late this past month, but it was all handled very poorly. It was my last month on a 3-month subscription so it might just be a sign to take a break anyway!

Bets

Love the pinks! ♡♡♡

That green and gold nail art is screaming “Zelda” to me.

Utena

Love it! Need the green to complete the tri-force.

Love it! I think you just sold me on those decals!

The new shades are all gorgeous looking, even that orangy yellow one.

This is my third month of a 3-month subscription and I never dreamed I would want to skip a month but I’m not wowed by any of the new products. Last month I loved the Fleur polish so much I bought a second one. Bummer but at least I get another month on my subscription?

You can customize your box with the Maven window opens (20th) and pick products that aren’t from this collection.

Lydie

only thing I am disappointed with is that they are not ALL truly holographic.. there’s really only three of these polishes that are holographic. The others do dazzle but are not holo. I guess I’ll go with the three holographic one 😀

Reply ButtonReply

Amber P

As much as I love Julep polishes, they don’t nail holographiscs, I’ve got two and you wouldn’t know they were holographic when they’re on your nail. Because of that I’m not thrilled with any of these colors. Sads.

Reply ButtonReply

Christina

Which three?

Reply ButtonReply

Lydie

Alysha, Eliza and Zori are the true holographic ones.. the others are just sparkles.

Jenn

It looks like the blue, pink, and purple are the true holos to me, but I agree with the comment below that hurls doesn’t nail holos overall.

sarah

yeah, I thought the same thing. If you love holos, check out ILNP – they have some great ones! More expensive though. 🙁
