Box of Happies Subscription Box Review – June 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Box of Happies is a monthly subscription box for handmade goods.  It’s a great way to discover new Etsy artisans.

I kind of like these plastic cases.  They look to be a good size for storing beads or other craft supplies (and goodness knows, I have enough of those…).

This box was sent to us at no cost for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Box of Happies

The Cost: $29.99 (that’s $24/month + $5.99 shipping; when I played with the shopping cart I was also charged tax but I think that’s because they’re in the same state I am); save with longer subscriptions

COUPON: Use code CLOVERNECKLACE to receive a bonus Silver Clover Necklace with a $30+ purchase (including 2, 3, 6 and 12-month subscriptions)

The Products: 3-5 handmade items such as jewelry, stationery, bath/body items, accessories, and more.

Ships to: US

Included was an information card listing the items in the box.  Also there was a business card for Box of Happies.

Free Moment Earbud Pouch – Value $5.99

I think I need a few of these! It is listed as an earbud pouch, and I do have a pair of earbuds floating around in my purse, but it could also be a good change purse and I was recently able to come up with $1.75 in quarters plus a bunch of other coins just by sticking my hand in the bottom of my purse, so I clearly have the need for a change purse!

Box of Happies Keyring – Value $5.99

I am one of those people with about 100 keychains, or I used to be, but some of mine were quite old and had to be discarded because they broke. So, it is time for some new ones. I like the bright color and cut-out pattern on this.

Sewflo Button Earrings – Value $6

These are cute and I have a dress they will go with. I don’t know what metal the posts are made of so I will coat them with a few coats of clear nail polish before wearing, though. (There are currently no earrings in the Sewflo shop.)

Box of Happies Necklace – Value $10

Delicate silver jewelry is always a win for me. (Well, I will wear pretty much any metal, including mixed metals, but delicate is definitely my style.)

Cupcake Polish Mini Nail Polish – Value $5

I am a nail polish addict. This is fun – green with red glitter. And I kind of like minis because you have some hope of using them up someday. I really like “Coffin Break” and “Blood Hound” from the Cupcake Polish store. (I am not sure what this color is called and also not sure of the size so I took the value from the information card.)

Here is a swatch of the polish. It is still kind of wet in this photo.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $33 for the June 2016 Box of Happies. This was a fun little collection of gifts this month and was a few dollars over the cost of the subscription. I consider that a good value since you’d have to pay separate shipping charges from each of the artisans, otherwise. (Do be prepared for earrings with this subscription. You will get a lot of them.) I also like the curation – it can be overwhelming to navigate Etsy, since there are so many similar shops, so I kind of like that someone else picks a few shops to sample from (without me having to pay individual shipping costs for items from each shop).

What did you think of the June Box of Happies? Do you get any artisan or handmade subscriptions?

  1. I would use the Sew-Flo earrings as pins for a bulletin board,

  2. I really like that earbud pouch!
