I can not get the code to work for me at all, and never subscribed to this box ever. It keeps saying cart empty and when I try to add a subscription then the code it says not valid

The links on this page don’t work. Does that mean the promo code is FIRSTBOX is used up?

Liz Cadman

Links still are working for me, and I just tested the coupon code as well. You’ll need to enter it at the checkout page once you select the 1 or 3 month offer. Hope that helps! 🙂

Weird! That’s what I did with the coupon code 🙁 Something must be weird with my settings. Drat.
Thanks for letting me know!

Victoria

There’s a link to the product swatches and descriptions on Julep’s facebook page.

When I try to use the FIRSTBOX code, the Julep website is telling me it isn’t valid. Did anyone else have that problem?

I have so many sub boxes and this one never exited me but I caved and joined ( due to the free 8 piece set) now I’m so excited for my Julep!!! I feel like I am part of a special club!! I cannot believe this never intrigued me!! I cannot wait for my box!!

I hope you love it. Julep skincare and makeup products are particularly good and I love that you can swap out products. Enjoy!!

Nice! Much better than this month’s box which I skipped. Looking forward to July and it’s gonna be a tough choice, I like it all! Purples and blues are my weakness 🙂 and sheer spf lippies? Yes please.

Jen

Oh, I love the nail colors this month. I like the lipsticks, but lordy if I don’t have enough lippies…

Reply ButtonReply

Ragan

I have like 300 lippies and 300 bottles of polish and I’m still taking a box this month…

I just donated (through the swap site) about $500 worth of gorgeous polishes (without boxes, and some used once) to a swapper who will be using them as art supplies. I can’t wait to get them in the mail today so I can’t change my mind 🙂 But now I won’t feel like I have a problem every time I open my polish draw! And now I can restock!!! Julep has gorgeous colors, new ones all the time, and a really great formula (I’ve only been disappointed with one particular color formula out of the hundreds I’ve tried).

Lee

Yeah! Someone that doesn’t make me feel so bad about my massive lip product collection! I love Julep. I am very glad I signed up for this box. I was just looking for lip tints with SPD. I am glad I held off on buying anything.

Marion

I’m excited that the lip product is sheer and has SPF! The colors are pretty too, and a little more edgy than I’m used to seeing from Julep — I like it!

I like the polish colors, but my favorites look veeeery similar to Julep products I already have, so I’m not sure if I’ll be getting any of those.

Love the purple lip colors, also most of the nail polishes. Does anyone know if I can just have a paycheck direct deposited to Julep? It would eliminate the middleman and make life so much easier, , ,

Carolina

Those purples and the blue polish are calling my name!!

Jinytte

I’m liking the two red lippies on the ends and the pale purply blue shimmer polish. But I have almost 20 reddish lipsticks I haven’t even touched yet. (Only 2 from sub boxes, the other 15 or so I bought over the last 7 months. Darn irresistible sales!) None have spf, but I figure I’d just slick some of my Fresh balms on top since those do have spf.

Must resist… but so pretty!

Well, I did some research, and I think the Julep has found a hole in the market the size of the Grand Canyon. Here is an (obviously not comprehensive) list of SPF lipsticks in order of SPF strength (strongest to weakest) with approximate prices:

Australian Cancer Council Lipstick, SPF 30 $15.00
Almay Stay Smooth Anti-chap Lipcolor Lipstick, SPF 25 $20.00
Sheer Shine Stylo Argan Oil Lipstick, SPF 25 $10.00
Lip Rewind Advanced Peptide Lip Treatment Broad Spectrum, SPF 20 $24.00
Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Sheers, SPF 20 $15.00
Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Smoother, SPF 20 $6.50
Sephora Collection Rouge Balm, SPF 20 $12.50
Sonia Kashuk Satin Luxe Lip Color, SPF 16 $10.00
Almay Hydracolor Lipstick, SPF 15 $10.00
Avon Beyond Color Plumping Lipcolor, SPF 15 $5.00
Avon Extra Lasting Lipstick, SPF 15 $6.00
Bite Beauty BB for Lips, SPF 15 $25.00
Bourjois Color Boost Lip Stick Crayon, SPF 15 $10.00
Chanel Aqualumiere Sheer Colour Lipshine Lipstick, SPF 15 $18.00
Covergirl Natureluxe Gloss Balm, SPF 15 $15.00
Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick, SPF 15 $10.00
Jouer Sheer Lipstick, SPF 15 $24.00
Laura Geller Sun Kissed Color Lip Balm, SPF 15 $15.00
Lipstick Queen Endless Summer, SPF 15 $22.00
Lorac Breakthrough Performance Lipstick, SPF 15 $22.00
Lorac Breakthrough Performance Lipstick, SPF 15 $22.00
Maybelline Moisture Extreme, SPF 15 $10.00
Perricone MD No Lipstick Lipstick, SPF 15 $30.00
Revlon Super Lustrous Shiny Sheers Lip Color, SPF 15 $6.00
Treat-ur-Skin Moisturizing Lipshine Lipstick, SPF 15 $15.00
Trish McEvoy Lip Color, SPF 15 $29.00
Vincent Longo Lip Stain, SPF 15 $23.00
Wet n Wild MegaShield, SPF 15 $5.00
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté, SPF 15 $36.00
Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color, SPF 12 $12.99
Lancome Mythical Rose L’Absolu Rouge Collection, SPF 12 $30.50
Sebastian Trucco Identity Sheer Lipstick, SPF 12 $15.00
Guerlain KissKiss Pure Comfort Lipstick, SPF 10 $20.00
Guerlain Sheer & Shine Lipstick, SPF 10 $37.00
Korres Mango Butter Lipstick, SPF 10 $16.95
Ohui Rouge Real Lipstick, SPF 10 $35.00
Yves Saint Laurent Pure Lipstick SPF 8 $35.00
Chantecaille Lipstick, SPF 6-8 $36.00
Revlon Moon Drops Lipstick, SPF 6 $8.00
Clinique High Impact Lip Color, SPF ??? $17.00
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick, SPF ?? $9.00

I have not tried most of these, and I tried to find only true lipsticks. I have tried the Australian Cancer Council Lipsticks in the past, and found the colors to be unappealing and looked “cakey” and dull (but overall, I prefer glossy and sparkly colors).

But at SPF 30, the new Julep colors look promising, and I am definitely buying three to test.

I currently have the Supergoop SPF50 Shine On Lip Screen which is like a glossy top coat. It works pretty darn well. And the Lipstick Queen Endless Summer is amazingggg, I recommend it too.

Awesome. Thanks you!

Digging the lip products, but every polish color there is a hard “no” for me.

Does anyone know when the new zodiac polishes usually come out?

Reply ButtonReply

Rosemary

I asked them once, and it seems like its a bit before the 20th of the month. I think they try to bring out the new color a few days before the zodiac sign changes. They did not give me an exactly time-frame.
I bet they are wishing that the zodiac signs didn’t change so close to the Maven roll-outs.

Thanks, Rosemary!

I LOVE all those lip colors!! I like their nail polishes, but I don’t use polish much, so very excited about makeup products. This month was my first month with Julep, and when it was selection time I was able to pick two nail polishes and one blush/lipstick. I don’t know if that’s how it work every month (I hope not, lol). I got one of their “it’s whipped” lipsticks in a welcome bag and LOVE IT. So yeah, basically now I want to build a julep lip color collection, haha.

Carolina

I feel it varies with the items selected for you…one month I was able to swap to 2 of the love your bare face sticks (which are bigger value items) PLUS a polish. This past month I switched out the blush stick for the oil cleanser, kept the its balm lipstick, and swapped the polish color for a nail treatment polish.

A trick I’ve learned is to look/switch to the “curated boxes” first… if any of those have 2 big ticket items plus a polish, then the swaps for each of the big ticket items will be of higher value (lipsticks, skincare, etc.). Hope that makes sense! 🙂

FABULOUS TIP; thank you! I’m a new Julep subscriber and am looking for ways to maximize my subscription. This helps a ton!

Rosemary

I think that Julep has begun reducing the total value of you box. I noticed this about 4 or 5 boxes earlier, and then had my options further reduced this previous month. It’s still good value, but I will be keeping a lookout for further capping of total value.

Hufsa

Thank you so much for the tips!! I’m super excited for this month’s selection time now 😀

Jess

You can completely customize your box by swapping items in and out. I believe you can choose either two beauty/makeup items, one beauty/makes up and 2 polishes or 3 nail polishes and usually some nail art or tool. Though you can’t just swap for anything on their site, it will show you what you can swap for. I never keep the selection they make for me, I try and customize to recieve the most value! If your more into beauty you should try swapping for just the makeup.

Beth

I really like their skincare & makeup but don’t use tons of nail polish. So I too always swap out the selections they give. I recently learned that they have a “Maven luxe” sub option that is $10 more per month than the standard box. I think that will give better options for selecting beauty items for the box each month. I was thinking this might be a better choice for me given that I usually need to spend extra to get the skin & beauty items I want. But there is not much detail on their website about exactly what the luxe level gets you in terms of number of products. Anyone have experience with the Maven Luxe boxes?

Hufsa

That’s the thing- I was able to swap the blush for lipstick, but the nail polish options were just more polishes or skin care products, and I think a few beauty tools. Maybe it was just their options last month? I did swap my items, but since the polish swaps weren’t appealing, I was just able to swap one product to my liking. Maybe it’ll be better this month.

Jen

Omg love the lipsticks. We’re out on the boat all summer and NO lipsticks have spf. I’ve been looking. Yea!

Reply ButtonReply

Rosemary

If you like, I can post a list of lippies with SPF (in case you don’t like the Julep ones). I’ll keep an eye out for your reply.
But, YAY! I can see three colors that I “need”. I am so glad that they are listening to us about the need for SPF products and more lip products. I am excited for the 20th!

Yes please do! Thanks!
