Julep Maven July 2016 Box Delay + Coupon

  1. The coupon was utterly useless as a customer relations effort. I would rather a free polish coupon like they did before.
    However, I finally received my box on July 21, 2016. The Lip Shades are lovely. OK, I’d prefer it if some had some sparkle, but overall they are a really nice product that I am going to use. I was going to get some more, but they don’t seem to be in stock at all.

  2. July 12th and this still hasn’t shipped. I got the e-mail and the coupon but some people have already received theirs and the box was supposed to be shipped the week after the e-mail arrived. At this point it’s technically only 3 days past the “week” mark but an update would be nice. I wish they had given me the option to swap it for another item so I could have just avoided this whole thing.

  3. It’s Jul 12 and no box and no shipment notice yet. Likewise no response to my CS email inquiring about the status. I didn’t even get the delay email letting me know they were shipping late. Just a bit concerned since others seem to have already received theirs and mine isn’t even in the shipping queue yet. Are others still waiting? I’ve been an active Maven since 2013 and have never once had this happen so it just seems odd.

  4. I received my box today (first one ever). I’m happy to report that my lip butter (Poppy) WAS included! Yay!

  5. My Julep Maven box just shipped this morning, 7am PST July 6, and the order details show both lip butters that I ordered are included. So, based on this I assume they got their stock in and are back on track 🙂

    • …lip sheer, lip shade, lip butter…. whatever they call it lol! The ones causing the delay I meant.

  6. Oooh thank you for this! For some reason I didn’t get an email though I did order a Lip Sheer (maybe it’ll come later?) and I did want to get that new Zodiac polish in the Secret Store! 🙂

  7. I got this email yesterday and was pretty stoked the coupon works in the Secret Store! I picked up a two-pack of konjac sponges and the Fresh Cut Grass mystery polish with it. It was great of them to let us know about the delay.

  8. As long as they tell us, OK with it.

    • This! I mean – shipping delays happen – they can be caused by anything, lack of staff, loss of product, natural disasters, what’s important is they’re relaying the information to their subscribers and cushioning the blow with a discount code. My June Allure box was SUPER late which I was already annoyed with, then when it arrived damaged and lacking an advertised item I was REALLY unhappy. They knew that the box was shipping late because I chatted with them about it on the 20th. So why didn’t you bother to tell me? Just poor CS IMO.

      I don’t expect free product because of a shipping delay, but I do expect acknowledgement and if a replacement does need to happen (because of a lost or damaged item) then I expect that to be taken care of also.

      This will be my first box as a Maven and I was shocked that it shipped before the month of July even started (I’m not getting a lip product) and is due to be here tomorrow. I didn’t even know when they typically ship so I wouldn’t have been concerned one way or another.

  9. I don’t think this is a huge deal. There’s no guarantee of exactly what day the boxes will ship, anyway. What annoys me so much more is when there’s a guaranteed ship date and the shipping labels are created, but the boxes just sit in pending status for eternity.

I find it funny that we sub-box folks are so demanding that a mere one-week delay in getting a lip gloss was predicted to be such a problem that the company felt that they needed to give us an I’m Sorry present. And you know, they’re RIGHT! Remember the kerfuffle a couple months ago over the Allure box, when people didn’t get their little battery-powered rubber face scrubbers? There were practically riots in the streets! You would have thought somebody died!

    I wish we could channel all this consumer power into something more constructive, like curing cancer or something…

    • Birchbox points, man. It’s literally the end of the world.

      (Still, totally used that 20% coupon even though I skipped my box this month. I love Julep!)

      • Right!? Haha, totally. Those major first world problems ya know….

    • I’d be upset if gifted this box to someone and the contents were incomplete. No it’s not life or death issue but the idea of a subscription box to me is receiving your box as described (i.e. all at once). Julep doesn’t seem stingy with the freebies they give w/addons. A bonus polish sounds like a reasonable concession to me.

    Yikes I found this to be a poorly executed email.
    I didn’t know if it meant:
    – That the full box with the lip butters would just be shipping late
    – The shipment was going out without the lip butters and the coupon was to purchased something as a replacement
    – a partial box would ship out next week and that the lip butters would be shipped in a separate box at some later time
    Maybe it’s just me but it seemed very ambiguous Or maybe I just needed to gripe about something after a long day at work

  12. I’m sure they will send the Lip Butters separately once they are in stock. I think they want to stay on track with the Maven boxes and are shipping them out as usual next week.

    This is my first Julep Maven box and I’m kinda bummed. I was looking forward to getting my complete box!

    To me, it’s lame that they gave out a generic discount code that anyone can use despite ordering the Lip Butters or not. I feel like they are pretty much saying “Hey, we messed up but here’s a measly 20% off code so you can buy more of our products.” I’d have appreciated a bonus free item for anyone who ordered the Lip Butters as compensation instead.

    • Totally agree. I don’t want to spend more money for their mistake. Problems happen, but give us a bonus, not a code.

      • Totally agree and why I’m not using it to give them more money for their error.

    • Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion but I think this is really interesting because all people were saying with the allure mess was that they wished that the company had just owned up to their mistake. Julep always ships very early and here we aren’t even into July and they are apologizing and letting us know that there will be a small delay and people are complaining that they want more.

      And to the earlier comment about this not being life or death everyone commenting here is completely aware of that, when you complain about one thing it doesn’t negate everything else. This is a place to talk about subscription boxes so people come here to talk about subscription boxes- things they are happy about and things they aren’t. I’m sure the people who were very upset about not getting the May Allure box also care about curing cancer.

  13. We had better otherwise we aren’t getting the same amount of product for the same price and I always seem to have another discount code I can use I don’t need the code I would rather have the product

  14. Will we eventually be sent the lip sheers? Or were they cancelled from our orders? I got the email and wasn’t sure what they meant!!

    • I have the same question! I read the email a few times and I’m still not sure if I’m getting the lip sheer or not.

      • I read it as there is a delay and they won’t have them until next week to ship them out but the boxes will include the lip sheers. In the mean time here is a coupon to apologize for the week delay in getting your box.
