Bullymake Box is a monthly subscription box for power chewers.  You all have heard about (and seen) some of Nyx’s exploits with plush toys from dog subscription boxes so when I heard about this one, I had to sign up immediately.  Nyx is definitely a power chewer!  You pick your dog’s weight in 10-pound increments so this is a box for an 80-pound dog (Nyx weighs about 84 right now).

My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Bullymake Box

The Cost:  $39 a month (save with 3, 6, and 12 month subscriptions)

COUPON: Save $5 off your first box by joining their mailing list (it is a pop-up when I visit the site).

The Products:  Toys and treats specifically tailored for heavy chewing dogs (no plushes).  You can also choose a “toys only” box.  Because of Nyx’s dietary issues, I went with the “toys only” box.  You can also enter specific allergy information in a box on the checkout screen.

Because Bullymake Box is customized based on your dog’s size, not every item will be the same.  But, the information card lists one of the items you will receive.

Jolly Pets Jolly Bone (size L/XL) – Value $8.21

Nyx enjoyed tugging on this and chewing on it although it didn’t keep her interest for too long when she realized she couldn’t destroy it.  I think this would be better if there was a hole or pocket for a treat or something on the end.

Yup! Marrow Chew Bone (size L) – Value $7.95

Nyx has been enjoying this in short bursts.  She has been known to completely demolish toys of this sort before, and she is really into this one, so we are taking it slowly.

Rope Tug Toy – Value $7 (?)

Nyx liked this.  I have no idea what the brand is or anything like that, since it came without a tag.  But rope tugs are usually a good bet.

Spunky Pup “The Hydrant” (size L) – Value $11.99

This has a big hole in the bottom, similar to a Kong.  This would be a nice alternative for a dog that’s a little tired of the rounded Kong shape.  I’m saving this one but will probably put a bit of Nyx’s wet food inside it to keep her entertained sometime (she only gets one new toy per day).

bullymakebox-may-2016-soccer

Petsport Turbo Kick Soccer Ball – Value $13.59

Nyx was not super into this but she didn’t hate it either.  It seems to have held up to her so far so I may put it into the rotation of toys she can have in her pen while I’m gone during the day.

Here are some photos of Nyx enjoying one of the toys from the box:

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $48.74 for the May 2016 Bullymake Box.  All the items were new to us and most of them were hits with Nyx.  No dog is going to love every toy, but these were all size appropriate, which is a big plus.  The toys seemed fairly durable for our purposes (your mileage may vary).  So this was another good month for us.

Ongoing billing issues. Would like to receive the $78.00 refund due me. I can again, provide you with the documentation to show the double billing as I have twice in the past. Hope to hear from you soon.

I am not sure whether someone from the box reads this page. Have you tried contacting them directly? I have generally gotten responses within about a day of sending them a message.

Yes. I have tried calling, but they refer you to their e-mail. I have tried e-mailing with no response. I contacted my American Express card, and they refunded me $39.00 but then Bullymake said they didn’t owe it to me. I had to cancel my American Express card because Bullymake continued to charge my card. I am not the only one having billing issues with this company. I referred a friend and Bullymake had charged her debit card twice even through she only ordered a one month box. I found out that Bullymake is not a member of the Texas BBB, and there have been complaints other than just mine. Do you have any idea how to resolve this issue? Thanks so much for your time.

Ragan, I’ve loved reading your pet box reviews since I joined and especially all of the precious pics you include of your beautiful Nyx. They would help me decide which boxes would work for my sweet Rottie mix, Luci. My precious girl left me for the Rainbow Bridge April 8 so now I read them just to see the pics of Nyx enjoying her new toys. My Luci always loved pulling the stuffing out of things (in her younger days even my new furniture lol). This looks like the perfect box for big babies. 🙂

Sorry for your loss. My last Rottie died in early December of 2012 and I got Nyx before the end of January of 2013. I just couldn’t go that long without a dog — there was a big empty space in my life (and I drove all the way to Tennessee to get Nyx…though that’s not so far for me). But I guess we all deal with these things differently and I am glad you are enjoying the photos.

It is strange, but I don’t actually think all Rotties are destructive! My last one, Jet, was so gentle with plush toys and never destroyed a single one. But wow, Nyx is always looking for the weak spot.

Finally a subscription box for my 100 plus lb rottweiler and mastiff!!!! Although my mastiff baby sucks on plush toys she is a chewer otherwise! My miracle mastiff has chronic issues with her digestion to the point she survived a colonic torsion and the surgery. so I empathize with dietary and other restrictions! Thank you so much for your awesome dog subscription box reviews

I finally trained my power chewing pitbull Nala not to eat pieces of tennis balls (her fav!) or be possessive after she destroys them – after letting her rip them up a bit I started trading her a rawhide for the tennis ball. Now whenever she’s done killing one she takes the half that’s still intake and finds me to trade for her rawhide – she’s even waited patiently in the bathroom for me to finish showering lol…gotta love our power chewers!!

This is the first dog sub box that’s actually tempting! My 65lb sweetie can destroy a plush within 2 minutes (and a Tuffy toy plush in an hour or two).

Though she’s also quite adept at destroying rope toys and the rubbery Nylabones, so I’m not really sure any box would work well for her.

Ragan, is there a hole in the top of the fire hydrant? If not, it’s dangerous. Nyx’s tongue could become stuck, suctioned into the toy.
I noticed there are no treats in the box. Was this your request?

Aimee: Could you please reply to my request regarding the double billing on my account? I have tried to reach your company many times with no response. I would appreciate hearing from Bullymake to resolve this issue.

Aimee

Leslie,
I’m sorry I do not work for this company. Good luck

Haley Faye

Leslie, I don’t think Aimee is part of BullyMake; I’m pretty sure she’s just a fellow reader.

I’m so sorry you’re having so much trouble with their billing and customer service! That’s so frustrating! Unfortunately, I don’t think we really have any way to help you other than to encourage you to keep trying to contact them (and contact your credit card company, which you’ve already done, so that’s good)… Their website says to email [email protected] – have you emailed that address directly? If so, have you checked your spam folders for their emails? Maybe they went there.

**They also have a live chat on their website you can use – this is the orange tab that says “live chat” on the bottom right of their website. I tried this chat (at 4 PM, so during business hours) and someone responded within seconds. I recommend you try this.

You also said that the money you’re due is from returning your boxes… I can’t find anything on their website saying they allow subscription box returns or how to file for an RMA/what their protocol is for returns, so they may not even allow for returns at all. (Also, just to maybe help communication, generally being “double billed” means that a company charged you twice for one box, not once each for two boxes. It sounds like you paid for and returned two boxes, and are looking for the total amount for two boxes back, if I understand correctly – just wanted to clarify that terminology in case it helps your communication with them a little better!)

Also, a good tip (in general with online purchases) to use PayPal whenever there is an option to. This way, instead of the BBB like you were looking for, PayPal can act as your advocate if there are any issues with charges and billing. I don’t know if BullyMake lets you pay with PayPal, so this is just a tip for anytime it’s an option for your future online purchases. 🙂

Hopefully some of this helps, Leslie. I really recommend trying the live chat if you haven’t already – looks like during business hours you’ll get a very quick response! Good luck! Hope this gets fixed for you.

Ragan

There a hole. You can see it better on top if you click the link for the toy (where part of the packaging extends down into the top hole). I am generally pretty fond of the non-plush Spunky Pup toys.

Yes, I requested a no treat box because of Nyx’s IBD. But, you can get this box with treats if that is your preference (it is actually the default to have treats included).
