I do love mascara, but none of the samples are particularly exciting. I’ve heard primarily bad things about Smashbox mascara, and the Marcelle sounds interesting, but I can buy it for $14 if I really am curious. I went with Benefit because I’ve tried it before and know at least i won’t throw it away. :/ Last month of Birchbox, here we go!

i’ve enjoyed the smashbox one actually, now that i’ve had it open for a couple weeks the formula is really great. it was a little thin to begin with.

I picked the Marcelle because that’s the only one I know for sure I don’t have sitting in my swaps profile hoping to be picked. Buuuut it will be there after I get my next box! And then I’ll probably be cancelling & cashing in my points.

I went with curated to get this over with and not really think about it…but the eye patches do sound cool 🙂

How can I choose the curated box? Sorry, new to birch

Canceled. Over Birchboxes changes.

Can someone tell me how the Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara is? Does it really extend your lashes? Or would you prefer Benefit?

I read reviews yesterday, doesn’t have any good ones at all : (

I am so tired of mascaras. I have so many. I hope Birchbox replaces the point system with something to keep me in or I too will unsub. So many other boxes competing right now I don’t think this was a wise decision.

Joy

I went with Benefit just so I don’t get stuck with the other mascaras.

I went ahead and cancelled. Does anyone know if you resub at any point if you can choose a sample choice or the curated box? When I joined they just sent me a box and I could not make any choices so I was just wondering if it’s the same everytime you resub? I would like to watch the choices each month and then if I like a choice then resub at that time.

There is usually a code that allows you to select the currated box as your first box but sample choice is not an option.

Thanks that would work 🙂

I just cancelled too. I had cancelled last year and resubbed in back in January. They wouldn’t allow me to pick a curated box or any samples, I just got a random box, but I got to choose my samples/box for month 2. So based on our experiences, I think that’s how it’s going to be going forward.

I’m staying subbed out because of that, because of their repeat items, and their changing point system. I figure I can just get what I want through swapping or purchasing items from others on here or Facebook.

What is a Facebook swap you do?

Sometimes they have new subscription deals were you can get the curated box. My first month with Birchbox was June and I joined with a code to get the Multifaceted & Might box.

Randi

I went with the curated box bc i wanted to try the oil. and the LP no frizz stuff will hopefully come in handy when I go to Florida next month.
Almost went with the Benefit mascara bc I love Benefit and that box is cute too… about 75% of the time I base my choice on which box I like better.

Choose Benefit. I got smashbox in Ipsy. I like it. Wanted to try Benefit.

A bunch of Bobbi Brown products appear in the new section. What are the odds that if I don’t pick I might get one of their mascaras?

Reply ButtonReply

Krista

Where do you see Bobbi Brown stuff??

Kelly

It’s in the shop under new. That’s where the sampler kits first appear. Sometimes though a new brand will pop up in the shop and never make its way into the boxes in sample form. That lemon rinse stuff everyone keeps raving about is there as well.

Barbie

I’m going to try to get the curated box. Yes, I will get a mascara, but at least I know what other items I’ll be getting. And, I’ve been wanted to try Living Proof. The Klorane patches look interesting too.

Amanda

I’ve decided for the first time ever to not pick. I love living proof but those samples seem small. I don’t mind getting mascara, as I’ve only been into sub boxes for about 6 months or so, but I don’t see one that stands out from the others.

My big decision is how to spend my birchbox points. I think I will have around 40 or 50 dollars worth after my last 5 reviews in July. Decisions, decisions.

Amanda, I agree with you about the product sizes. This months looks as if someone is clearing sample boxes off of shelves. Mi watched the unboxing video of the British Birchbox and the majority of their sample sizes appeared to be deluxe sized.

I am on the fence about not picking too. Although I love the benefit mascara, I just got it in my Play box and got another mascara in my Glossybox.

Marie

last month I didn’t pick because I didn’t want the brow product and I still got in it my box.

Jessy

Same here. I wonder if we don’t pick if maybe we would get benefit roller lash since they had a promo with it recently.
