Don’t fall for it. I am a long time BB subscriber, who opened a new account to get LAST month’s curated box–because they claimed it was sold out when I tried to pick it–well, they didn’t honor their own promotion on my new account and sent nothing. When I called to complain they refused to honor any promo codes-so I cancelled my new sub. On my “old” account I also spent $50 for a promo item–which also wasn’t honored–after I called to complain and only after I threatened to cancel – they sent me two foil packets of shampoo. I have always sung the praises of BB–but right now-they are really pulling a bait and switch. Everyone in my office gets BB and we are all thoroughly unimpressed. BB is finally over. They cannot compete with Sephora–not even with their points system.

I get that the points model was excessive (there’s a reason nobody else had a program like BB’s was). That being said………the sudden exit of the loyalty program combined with the fact that they never send us coupon codes anymore (GWP is not the same) and the fact that you can’t buy the curated box flat out any longer if you want a personalized box as well is a HUGE devaluing of the subscription’s overall value IMO.
They can dance around the truth all they want, but I’m tired of them taking things away and telling us we should just smile and nod.

Too funny – I just picked this box as my selection this month. I had just glanced over my confirmation email, when I saw this posting.
I was like, wait a minute! Didn’t I JUST order this box!?!? They’re giving it away – FREE!?!?!
I thought BB started looking a little desperate when they started making comments like: “If you leave us now…” this is what you’ll miss. If they would just stay consistent, listen to their customers, and stop making freebies out of items that some of us are paying for right now, I think they could weather this rough patch. It feels like they’re making the possibility of a come back harder than it has to be…

Just so over Birchbox. Canceled when they cut the points, and this type of thing is just reinforcing that decision for me.

Last month the curated box sold out before I could pick it. I think the July box looks nicer than most birchboxes I’ve received lately. I would have picked it if I hadn’t cancelled in favor of sephora play yesterday. I get that their model wasn’t working and I hope they recover. I might come back to birchbox if they offer even more customization. Like Julep does.

So, I had a “billing issue” with my account according to BB and they didn’t honor my choice of the curated box. They also never let me know there was a problem, but whatever. So I really wanted that multifaceted and mighty box. I saw there was a code. I opened a new account and used the code and they sent it to me. I ordered it on 6/19. They were not sold out. Shady business practice if you ask me.

Lame and desperate are words that definitely sum them up now.

Sounds like many of us dropped Birchbox this month (I did), and suddenly they have more curated boxes than they anticipated.

I have been trying to stay positive and hope that Birchbox is about to redeem themselves (to some extent) any minute now, but this is ridiculous. I think it’s in bad taste to be offering it as a GWP before their loyal subscribers can choose it. It’s probably because they are hoping people who are desperate for the box will spend $50 tonight to ensure they get it since the quantity will be more limited by tomorrow. But it seems like not a lot of people even want it, so this is pointless.

I thought it was kinda lame too offering next months box for free. Such confidence in their product! lol
I’m hoping it will be available after I receive my last box, July’s, so I can use up my points and get something else for free. haha The sunshine oil looks interesting what with the rollerball and all.

They’re looking kind of desperate to be giving away next month’s awful curated box with a purchase but at least they did it so people can still pick a sample if they planned in buying something with points still or I don’t know.
