My Skin Trx - Essentials Cleansing Balm in Oily/Combo Skin - Full Size - $18.00
I really enjoy this cleanser. I don’t use it alone, but I love taking my makeup off with it. The directions say to warm up your face with a wet and warm towel, apply and let it sit, then remove with a warm towel. If you’re a huge fan of Ultrabland from Lush Cosmetics, you’ll enjoy this too.
Mirabella - Lipstick in Volatile - (1oz) - $22.00 (on sale for $17.60)
I’m not the biggest fan of the Mirabella brand, but I have a few lip products now, thanks to subscription boxes. This one is a bright purple, and perfect to the summer months.
Manna Kadar Beauty - 3-in-1 Blush, Highlighter, Eyeshadow in Fantasy - Full Size - $19.00
Like its name, you can use this product at least three ways. I found it very pigmented and gorgeous on my eyes. I’m really happy that it came packaged with bubble wrap and in one piece.
Bask Bloom Essentials - Rhassoul & Bentonite Clay Shampoo Bar - Sample Size - $2.00
Unfortunately John and I were not a fan of this cleanser. It claims to cleanse hair without stripping it. I tried it first on my skin and it was drying. John tried it in his hair and he didn’t care for it either. I love trying new brands and they number of products for sale. I hope we receive other products in the future.
Curl Keeper - Total Control for Frizzy Hair in Original - (1oz) - $3.00
This is a hair gel meant to tame and define curls. I’m not a fan of this brand, and unfortunately for me, it pops up a lot in hair subscription boxes. I really don’t like the packaging either. If you’ve ever tried to open one, you know exactly what I mean.
The Doux - Shine Therapy Elixir - (.5oz) - $6.50
This hair enhancer can be used in curly and straight hair types. It also says you can use it as a heat protectant before straightening and blow drying. I don’t blow dry my hair, but I’m not opposed to trying it out. Every blue moon, I’ll apply some heat to the kiddos hair, so I may end up putting this in their bathroom for a future.
Swatches Left to Right: Manna Kadar 3-n-1/ Mirabella Lipstick
Verdict: This May, the We Are Onyx Beauty Box had an estimated retail value over $66.00. I discovered three new brands to stalk on social media. I’m really split in half over the contents this month. I’m not pleased with receiving another Curl Keeper product, apparently a lot of people love them. On the other spectrum, I’m loving the full sized cleanser and makeup products. I can’t say this is my favorite box from WAO, but I’m very satisfied with the curation and improved packaging.
