Before I continue, I have to warn you that something kind of awful happened this month. My package included what was supposed to be a shelf-stable "emergency" type meal, but somehow in transit, it was damaged and became unstable. The package ripped, the food started to go bad, and mold started growing on the paperwork inside before I even opened it. This is what it looked like inside:

This was the info letter that came in the package. This month, 11 people received a FitBit in their package! Next month six people will receive a Roku in the mini box. That's so cool! But so gross.

Chef 5 Minute Meals Spaghetti with Meatballs in Sauce - Value $5.99

Here's the culprit. This is so disgusting. Fortunately, everything else in the shipment was packaged in plastic, so this was the only thing that was truly ruined. I contacted customer service and sent pictures, and they were very apologetic. They also gave me a credit for $5 toward my next box, which is half the price of the box.

LED Rechargeable Task Light - Value $16.97

This is some kind of flashlight that I don't fully understand, but my husband was very excited about it!

Chair-Mate Side Table Tray - Value $4.99

This little tray is pretty handy! It attaches to the side of your lawn or lounge chair.

As a bonus, they included this coupon for $35 off your first order from Hello Fresh.

Verdict: I have to be honest, they could have included almost anything in this box and it would not have made up for the rotten food an mold I opened in my house. I actually wish that non-food boxes would stop sending food altogether, because real food is not supposed to be shelf-stable for long anyway. The other items in the box were nice and were alone worth more than twice what I paid for the box. Customer service was very nice and helpful as well. This was my first Mini Mystery Box by Jamminbutter, so I will need to reserve judgement until I can see what their boxes are like without a catastrophe happening en route.

What do you think of the Mini Mystery Box by Jamminbutter? Am I being a baby about this?

As someone who is afraid of mould (I can’t buy fancy tupperware because if I even THINK food has been sitting in it too long… out it goes without me even looking at it!), this is basically my worst nightmare. #1 reason why I don’t subscribe to food boxes! And I hate that they put food in a non-food box.

Does anyone know when these boxes ship out ? I paid for mine on May 1st and it said the boxes ship out between the 10-15 of every month. When I checked in “my account” in the website to see if has shipped , it says that it hasn’t .

That’s pretty gross. The worst disaster I ever got in a box was a Burke Decor spa box with a broken (glass) bottle of liquid charcoal soap. Smelled great but shards of glass were everywhere and everything was coated in black goo. Never got any moldy food, though.

I love getting food and my meal was intact (and “real”…whatever that means…I’m not packing an organic salad on a 3-day hike). What underwhelmed me was the flashlight set which didn’t work and the table which I gifted but was useless otherwise. I unsubscribed right away.
