This is the information sheet that came with my family's package. We let the chef choose our meals, and this is a list of what we received. It also has instructions on how to prepare the meals.
Before going any further, I wanted to apologize for something I said and did last month. I misread the directions! The four minute cooking time is for *thawed* dishes, not frozen. I complained about the 9+ minute cooking times, but I was totally wrong. This time I cooked them when thawed, and everything came out piping hot after just four minutes.
The meals arrive in an insulated container as seen above, with plenty of ice packs inside to keep them cool. By the time I pull them out of the box they are no longer frozen solid, of course, but so far they have been just fine. The top picture shows the pesto chicken and roast beef packets, and the bottom picture shows the chicken cutlet and jambalaya packets. We received two of each meal. We also received two packets of pulled pork with collards and sweet potatoes, but somehow I failed to photograph those before they were devoured!
My younger son and my husband both selected roast beef for our frozen dinner night adventure this time. My younger son is in that phase where he hates everything, so we don't ask him any more. My husband thought this was delicious! The servings are a little small for an adult dinner, so I suggest supplementing with a nice fresh salad if you have some vegetables on hand. It rounds these meals off nicely.
On the other hand, I have no idea what a good serving size for a ten-year-old boy really is. He ate both of these pulled pork meals in one sitting. He said it was the best thing he ever ate. Then he ate a huge bag of popcorn.
I chose the chicken pesto because I love pesto, and it looked so inviting! The spinach was good, but everything else was a little flavorless, to be honest. I was surprised; I thought the mozzarella and tomato with the pesto would be nice and zesty, but the tomato didn't have any flavor, and there wasn't enough pesto to flavor the chicken and the quinoa. It was fine, I just think it could have been a lot tastier.
This jambalaya, on the other hand, was amazing! These last two meals I took to work with me, so forgive the paper and plastic. I was a little skeptical that frozen jambalaya could be any good, but this was really delicious. It had chicken and a little sausage in it, and the seasoning was just perfect.
The chicken cutlet was also very, very tasty. It was packaged with a squeezed lemon in it, which I also heated up, and I wish it had been just a little more present throughout the dish because the hint of citrus was divine. I didn't think a frozen breaded meat could be good reheated, but I was wrong! It was quite good! And the potatoes were great as well.
In addition to all our meals, our box came with a bonus dessert for two, these chocolate krispys. This time, because it was chocolate and I was having a serious craving, I tried it. It was so good! It didn't have too overwhelming of a marshmallow flavor (like I feared it might), but the chocolate flavor was good and rich like I hoped it would be!
Verdict: Meal Time Box is a little more expensive than the frozen meals you typically find at the grocery store, but they taste much better and seem to be much healthier. I really like that there aren't a bunch of added preservatives, colors, artificial flavors, added sugar, etc. I think if you routinely cook frozen meals, or are looking for a fast and reasonable healthy option, Meal Time is definitely worth checking out.
