This month's theme was Power!

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - all items
Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - card folded

They changed the info pamphlet a little bit from the first box. It's now this horizontal style instead of vertical.

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - card

It fully opens up to give you all the details about where to find the bonus content for the Power box.

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - card back

With all of the item information on the flip side.

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - POW pin

This month's pin is from Stan Lee's POW Entertainment. This was the first spoiler of the box, and I was thrilled to see that it simply replaces the monthly pin and wasn't one item this month.

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - skeletor shirt

Skeletor Long Sleeve Shirt - Value $15-20?

This is a 65% polyster/35% cotton mix work out shirt. I LOVE the design! This really brings me back- I like the material of this shirt, but I tend to like more breathable, performance/workout material slothing to begin with.

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - Captain America hat

Captain America Snapback - Value $15-20?

With Civil War being a big focus of this box, the Captain America item is a snapback hat. A snapback hat is my least favorite kind of hat, but I can see how it's really the only way to include a hat that fits all subscribers. having said that, the hat is awesome! I love the simple design and the protruding Captain America shield.

I also like that the back portion of the hat is perforated and breathable.

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - Hulk lithograpgh

Hulk Lithograph - Value $10?

They include am 8x10 Hulk lithograph print. It's got some cool textures since it's a lithograph - which also makes it more unique. I like the print, but I wouldn't expect a print or lithograph in a deluxe geek box.

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - street fighte duffle

Street Fighter Duffel Bag - Value $25-30?

The next item is this Street Fighter branded duffel bag. This is a decently sized duffel, I'd probably call it a medium sized bag, and I love the graphic. It has 2 outer zip pockets and 3 outer mesh pockets.

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - size of bag

The lithograph is 8x10, so I wanted to include it to show the size of the duffel bag. It's not too small, but it's definitely not big either.

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - iron man in box

6" Light Up Iran Man Figure - Value $30-35?

Right off the bat, this is a cool item - but I cannot figure out why they chose an Iron Man 2 branded item as opposed to a Civil War based item. Maybe I'm just being too critical?

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - metal Iron Man

This figure is all metal and is modeled after the Mark V Iron man suit. That's also what makes it exclusive!

Loot Crate DX Subscription Box Review + Coupon May 2016 - iron man light

There's a little button to press and light up his arc reactor!

Verdict: I really liked most of the items this month, and felt that it was a step up from the initial box last month. I really hope that they reconsider sending out prints in these high-value boxes, I have a tough time putting a value on a print in a box, but maybe I'm alone on that? Outside of that, the other 4 items were both awesome. It took a while for the core crate to build up and become awesome - so I think a lot of their new boxes are heading in the right direction - Loot Crate DX included.

After seeing the reviews for the first LCDX box, I happily and excitedly paid for this box! Then it came in the mail. I was disappointed to say the least. I like the shirt, don’t get me wrong. But the rest of the items seemed very generic to me. The hat seemed like something you can get anywhere, the Iron Man I saw at Target the very next day. The duffel bag is something I’ll probably never use, unless it’s to clean out my locker at work. And the Hulk lithograph just seemed chincy. Overall, I paid $50 for a shirt I’ll wear. I understand that it’s essentially a grab bag, but with the first box seeming to be geared more toward an adult audience, this seemed more teen to me. If the next month’s box leaves me feeling the same way, they’ll have lost my business.

I’m a sucker for anything Masters of the Universe and I like long sleeve shirts over sweatshirts so that was a big win for me. I like the duffel and hat as well. I think the box was a solid 8/10 this month for me. To me, its all about the franchises that are included. What they should do is present the franchises for the month, and let you “opt out” if certain franchises are presented that you don’t care about. $50 is a lot of money each month and I think that would go a long way to increasing the subscription base and making people happy through spending money on franchises they care about.

To “opt out” is an option on the regular loot crate. All you have to do is sign in to your account and choose to skip a month. I’m not sure if this is available on the dx, but I don’t know why it wouldn’t be.

I know there’s a difference between lithographs and prints, and that lithographs are better (cost more) than prints, but I can’t remember what the difference is.

I really didn’t like this box. The hat, bag, and shirt are all of poor quality with boring designs. The iron man figure comes from a movie released six years ago. However I actually like the print, I just wish they made them a little bigger so they could be hung.

I despise prints in all the boxes. To me, a piece of paper or cardboard isn’t worth anything. Unless it comes framed or something it will just collect dust.

I’ve been watching this box and I’m not impressed so far. Ill keep watching to see if they improve
