Although this is April’s box mine actually arrived in May. Looks like shipping from Singapore takes several weeks.

The box came with a card advertising Blippo, the Japanese goods shop associated with Kawaii Box, and an info card listing the contents of the box.

Oekaki Sherbet DIY Candy Kit

Hooray for DIY candy kits! This is a kit that mixes together different powders to create cool animal shapes. Since the info card offered no English instructions, I shouted “YOLO” and winged it with their illustrations on the packet alone. I got almost all of the steps right except for the very last one, where I cooled mine in the fridge instead of the freezer. It never solidified. Needless to say, please don’t be like me and just Google the kit online or watch a YouTube tutorial.

Kawaii Face Mini Purse

Cute! This has a faux crosshatch leather exterior so no worries about stains and spills. I also like that it includes a keychain and a lobster clasp so you can easily attach it to things.

Documenting the sherbet DIY process. I won’t show the final result because they didn’t turn out well.

Jewelry Seal Deco Stickers

Pink stickers be great for bejeweling phone cases or scrapbooking, but they’re not really my type of decoration. Maybe nail art?

Egg Highlighter Set

These are the cutest highlighters! Each egg opens up to reveal a little highlighter pen in various neon colors. The tip is pretty tiny so you can get neat, thin lines onto your pages.

Anpanman Ramune Candy

These taste exactly like Sweetarts but are shaped like Anpanman. His cheeks are very shiny and plump, aren’t they…

Emoticon Squishy Charm

The best part about this charm is its soft squishy body. I only have one large charm on my keychain at a time though, so this will have to wait its turn.

Bonjour Envelope Set

Although I wouldn’t pick out this design at a stationery shop, it’s cute! The opening is on the narrow end instead of on top. There are five envelopes total.

3D Panda Sticker

This was gifted to a panda-adoring friend almost immediately! It’s cute and was great as a pick-me-up present.

Ghost Family Pen

I’m not seeing a “ghost” here, it looks more like a nesting doll to me. Maybe this is a series of characters (like Hello Kitty) that I don’t know about, though.

Glow In The Dark Stickers

These are squishy, 3D stickers in the shape of candy and hearts. They indeed glow in the dark! My only small concern is that this is a Chinese product rather than a Japanese or Korean one. There’s nothing wrong with Chinese stickers per se, but I just wasn’t expecting it because Kawaii Box didn’t mention it in their initial description. I also know China gets a bad rep for selling counterfeit goods so there’s always an air of skepticism or negativity surrounding Chinese-made stuff. Stickers are totally fine, of course, but it’s still something I should point out.

Pastel Hair Loops & Pins

I used to wear cutesy stuff like these as a child but definitely not anymore. I will send them to my sister!

Korean Deco Tape Set

This is a set of mini washi tape. I adore the designs but don’t do crafts or decorations, so I’m not sure how to use it other than as boring old tape. Any thoughts?

Verdict: My first introduction to Kawaii Box was pretty good. I did have one small concern about them sending items from China, as mentioned above, but it’s not a deal breaker or anything. Other than that I liked everything they sent! For $20 the box breaks down to about $1.67 per item. I think this would be a good box for youngsters. I’m interested in what the next box will bring!

  1. Aww, the little purse looks like a sad Hello Kitty! 🙁 I don’t feel like there’s actually $19 worth in there – the stickers are cute but aside from that, nothing too special in there – I kind of feel like this is all dollar store stuff.

  2. Most shops are stationary. 😉

  3. I use Washi to wrap gifts instead of using ribbon, makes for cute decoration and less frustrating trying to tie the bows.

  4. I laughed out loud at your description of making the candy. That totally sounds like something I would do. This is a really cute box. I think I’ll get it, and keep the things I like, and use the rest as little gifts for friends and the children in my life, like my niece, nephew, and goddaughter.
